Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

She definitely used the wrong word. I would be more worried if this became regular policy in referring to jihadists, and if the words 'TERROR ATTACK' hadn't been loudly shown on screen at the moment she'd said it.

It's not personal. It's just war.

Just as Chris Cuomo called the 1 necro-Muslim " African American ", reporters are having to dodge through an ever increasing number of verboten PC landmines, as they try to deliver " the news ", and it's getting them tongue tied.

The real problem is, the lack of distinction goes both ways.

According to David Cameron, UK PM, there is an especially dangerous brand of person out there, and that is the nonviolent extremist. Because everyone who espouses "radical" views, even if they don't promote or support violence ... yanno, Like Martin Luther King who believed that all people should have the right to vote... is dangerous.

Quote:

If you question the government narrative about terror attacks like the one that occurred on September 11, or believe in religious prophecies about the end times, or dispute the legitimacy of your rulers, or hold any sort of views that politicians consider “extremist,” watch out. Last week, U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron told the United Nations and its largely autocratic member regimes that the perpetual terror war requires far more than just crackdowns on violence and terrorism. Now, as the terror war becomes increasingly globalized and fanatical, what Cameron described as “non-violent extremism” all over the world is in the crosshairs, too.

Domestically in the United Kingdom, authorities are also plotting an intense crackdown on speech and ideas, with official plans that have been widely criticized and ridiculed by opponents as extreme, counterproductive, and repressive. For the fortunate “non-violent extremists,” authorities are planning to impose a censorship regime further curtailing free speech, in addition to close monitoring. Under an upcoming set of new “rules” to be inflicted on British subjects by Cameron’s self-styled Conservative Party, people considered to be “extremists” will have to seek approval from terror police simply to post messages on Facebook or Twitter.

According to the U.K. Telegraph, the so-called “Extremist Disruption Orders” will also prohibit “extremists” from speaking at public events if authorities decide they might represent a threat to the vaguely defined “functioning of democracy.” Top government officials said “extremists” would be barred from speaking on television or radio, too. If a group promotes or spreads what politicians consider “hatred” — biblical notions of marriage, perhaps, or the speeches of former U.K. Prime Minister Winston Churchill — its members and donors can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. The so-called “banning orders” purporting to prohibit organizations and speech the government disagrees with are reportedly part of a broader strategy dubbed “Prevent.”

I have no idea why Christiane said what she said. It's clear she's trying to follow a PC book of protocol, and not refer to them as Islamic. But they were funded by a radical Militant Islamic group, no doubt about it. They reportedly said " we're al qaeda " . Least there be any confusion.

And yet, the world MSM types like Christiane , went w/ the ' activists ' card.

She does a grave disservice to both groups, terrorists and activists, imo. Of course, it actually benefits the cause of the terrorists to be elevated to the status of 'activist', because it assigns legitimacy to their cause. And a legitimate cause must be respected, and not exterminated.

Activists and "violence" are the Obama line, and CNN carries his water, and she works for CNN.

But you cannot be jumping to conclusions about the terms being correctly applied. Next you know, the Newspeak Nazis will hear you claiming the world is round. Or the sun rose in the East recently.

PARIS, France – President Barack Obama will not join other world leaders at Sunday’s Paris march in tribute to the victims of this week’s Islamist attacks in France, a US official told AFP.

Ever since the bloody shooting that killed 12 people at satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday — followed by separate attacks that left five more people dead — Obama has made repeated declarations in support of America’s “oldest ally.”

But he will not join other leaders including British Prime Minister David Cameron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, all set to attend the march.

The rally will put Netanyahu in the same event with Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas.

More than a million people are expected to go.

“I want the people of France to know that the United States stands with you today, stands with you tomorrow,” Obama said Friday, following three days of bloodshed.

On Thursday, Obama wrote the Gallic slogan “Vive la France!” in a condolence book during a visit to the embassy in Washington.

Here is a list of world political figures who have confirmed their attendance:

Albania — Prime Minister Edi Rama

Algeria — Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra

It may very well be exactly that, but it also does serve as a very visible shift, at least initially, in the mindset that Europe has been operating under for the past several decades. The open borders, multi-culturalism views of inviting the world in, damn the consequences , may have come home to roost.

But you're right. Unless laws are changed and borders are more tightly controlled, it's all just for show.

“The enemy is pre-ordained. It's us. Which means Howard Dean is right. This is a cult, a cult of apologists. But Dean is also right when he says this is not a religious issue, which means, if I don't see Islam when I fight terror, then you cannot see Islamophobia when I fight it,” Gutfeld remarked.

Gutfeld said that we should see “a death cult, one that needs no understanding, just eradication.”

Gutfeld wondered where this cult has learned to punish language.

“How about Harvard and our modern cult of hate speech activists, who see language as violence, creating speech codes with penalties? Seeing ‘activists’ silence critics so easily must make them drool with envy.”

I kinda see where Rappy learns his stuff from, people who can't string coherent sentences together, but speak in speak in a series of platitudes that don't actually MEAN anything.

How this man has the nerve to criticise the language code of others is beyond me. It's projection at its finest.

First, you'd understand better if you watched the video of Greg Gutfeld saying this, on The Five.

Second, you'd understand better if you realized Greg was responding to remarks Howard Dean had said, that the " terrorists " weren't part of any religion, but instead were just a death cult. ( not to be confused with Islam proper )

Third, the code in which Greg is criticizing is that of the MSM, and more specifically, Christiane Amanpour, for calling the sub human Necro-Muslims " activists ".

Greg then goes on to turn the 'death cult ' term back on Dean and the apologists, as THEY are the mindless drones who refuse to accept reality, and just react. So afraid of the " over reaction " from the right, the one which has been all but imaginary and non existent, while they refer to cold blooded murders for allah as " activists " , instead of calling them by their real name.

Radical Militant Muslim terrorists.

Pretty straight forward and simple to follow, if you ask me.

*ETA*

Also, Greg later goes on to mention...

whether they kill editors, massacre school kids, or use children as bombers - you will get this response

I think that a lot of the far right hyperbole loses its meaning in translation. It also loses its point.

As far as I can see the MSM does call them terrorists. I haven't seen one single news item that has referred to them as anything else, so I don't see MSM being apologists for terrorism, so I fail to see how this is some sort of MSM conspiracy. If one person has referred to them as 'activists', its all kind of 'meh' to me as it doesn't represent the tone of anything I've or read which has been suitably horrified and outraged.

Gutfeld isn't " far Right " .

As stated in this very thread, Christiane Amanpour called them " activists ". She's hardly just ' one person'. She's considered by many as the queen of international reporting, at least as far as the US press are concerned.

It's far from " meh ".

And while the world calls them Muslim terrorist, this President, the admin and the Dem party refuses to do so.

President Barack Obama voiced continued support for France following Friday’s hostage-taking standoffs and the killings at a publication there earlier this week, pledging that the United States will do all it can to help a key ally.

“I want the people of France to know the United States stands with you today, stands with you tomorrow,” he said at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The president said he’s been briefed on the latest developments by his counterterror adviser, Lisa Monaco, and has made clear his willingness to provide “whatever support our ally needs.”

The world has been reminded that terrorists have “nothing to offer but hatred and human suffering,” Obama said, but the response in Paris has shown that liberty will prevail.

“We stand for freedom, hope and the dignity of all human beings, and that’s what the city of Paris represents to the world,” he said. “That spirit will endure forever, long after the scourge of terrorism is banished from this world.”

President Barack Obama promised to give France the full assistance of the U.S. in hunting down the gunmen who attacked the Paris office of a satirical magazine, leaving at least 12 dead.

Obama denounced the mass shooting as a cowardly act carried out by terrorists who fear freedom. He vowed U.S. counterterrorism officials would work hand-in-hand with authorities in France, which he called one of America’s oldest and strongest allies.

“The values that we share with the French people, a belief, a universal belief in freedom of expression, is something that can’t be silenced because of the senseless violence of the few,” Obama told reporters at the White House before meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry and Vice President Joe Biden. “We will provide them with every bit of assistance we can.”

Obama later called French President Francois Hollande to offer condolences as well as assistance.

Quote:

President Barack Obama made remarks about the shooting that took place at the headquarters of Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris on Wednesday before holding a meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry and Vice President Joe Biden.

Obama said his “thoughts and prayers” were with those affected by the shooting, saying his administration is doing all it can to “remain vigilant” against threats to Americans in France and in the US.

“I’ve reached out to President Hollande of France and hope to have the opportunity to talk to him today, but thought it was appropriate to express my deepest sympathy to the people of Paris and the people of France for the terrible terrorist attack that took place earlier today,” Obama said.

But you know, whatever...

Only that with what he's guilty of, nothing more.

Quote:

U.S. President Barack Obama faced sharp criticism from some American media on Monday over not attending a huge Paris solidarity rally in the wake of deadly Islamist attacks.

"You let the world down," blared the front page of the New York Daily News.

Numerous world leaders came to Paris Sunday to lead a march in support of victims of Islamist attacks killed during three bloody days in France.

The violence began with a gun attack on the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and ended up leaving 17 people dead.

Millions turned out on Sunday in the biggest protests in French history that included around 1.6 million people rallying in the capital.

But Obama was not among the leaders who walked arm in arm at the head of the procession in Paris, with Washington represented by its ambassador to France Jane Hartley.

"As an American, I do wish that we were better represented in this beautiful procession," said CNN's Jake Tapper from the rally in Paris.

Attorney General Eric Holder was in Paris but did not walk with the world leaders while Secretary of State John Kerry was on a visit to India.

Obama and Vice President Joe Biden had no events on their public schedule for the day.

Kerry announced he would visit France later this week and he downplayed criticism of the administration.

"This is sort of quibbling," Kerry told reporters in India.

"The relationship with France is not about one day or one particular moment," said the top US diplomat.

Political-insider magazine Politico wrote a story about the administration missing the rally under the headline: "Barack Obama's French kiss-off."

So does the WH.

They admitted it was a blunder.

Barry was just too damn busy to even be bothered w/ the whole ordeal. I bet he had a big NFL viewing party over at the WH, and just wanted to be left alone.

So much so, he didn't even THINK about sending Joe 'Bite Me' Biden or John Kerry.

Sure as hell couldn't ask Hillary and Bill to go. That'd make for some really bad optics.

Jake Tapper: I'm ashamed by U.S. leaders' absence in Paris

Paris (CNN)"Thank you," said the man. I was standing outside of the offices of Charlie Hebdo covering the aftermath of the terrorist attacks for CNN. He was thanking me just for being here, just for covering the event and its aftermath, what Le Monde referred to as France's September 11. And his appreciation was echoed by French citizen after French citizen.

The rally Sunday for unity drew 1.5 million people in Paris and more than twice that nationwide; it was like nothing I've ever seen or covered. Our nation's oldest ally stood firm. A young Muslim Frenchwoman held a sign saying "Je suis Juif."

Who ???

That was Chani's line, to Paul. Who the hell is Alia ?

I know who spoke the line. I was providing an updated answer. Alia was Paul's sister, played by 5 year old Alicia Witt.

OK... so I'm not as Dune knowledgeable as I am w/ other stuff, but that's just creepy.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

Irony: Netanyahu, one of the world's leading terrorists, responsible for the deaths of dozens of journalists, participating in an anti-terrorism free-speech protest in support of journalists.

Fuck that guy. Fuck him and fuck ISIS. They're flipsides of the same coin.

Apparently, the Rap has such a need to believe in "Good Guys" that he overlooks pesky little details like, oh, say, murder, torture, terrorism, racism, illegal wars, etc...

Nah, he just buries his head in... a dark place, and denies that such things could ever be done by the "good guys". We don't "torture", he says - it's just a harmless frat prank!

France Arrests a Comedian For His Facebook Comments, Showing the Sham of the West’s “Free Speech” Celebration

The day before the Charlie Hebdo attack, I coincidentally documented the multiple cases in the west – including in the U.S. – where Muslims have been prosecuted and even imprisoned for their political speech. Vanishingly few of this week’s bold free expression mavens have ever uttered a peep of protest about any of those cases – either before the Charlie Hebdo attack or since. That’s because “free speech,” in the hands of many westerners, actually means: it is vital that the ideas I like be protected, and the right to offend groups I dislike be cherished; anything else is fair game.https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2015/01/14/days-hosting-massive-fre

No. Around 20,000 people in Britain have been investigated in the past three years for comments made online.

But the persecution is by no means viewpoint-neutral. It instead is overwhelmingly directed at the country’s Muslims for expressing political opinions critical of the state’s actions.

To put it mildly, not all online “hate speech” or advocacy of violence is treated equally. Facebook users who sanction violence by the UK in Iraq and Afghanistan, or who spew anti-Muslim animus, or who call for and celebrate the deaths of Gazans, are not prosecuted. -- http://firstlook.org/theintercept/2015/01/06/police-increasingly-monit

I wonder why? Consider how exemplary the Israelis have always been: There was the King David Hotel bombing. Menachem Begin, Israel's sixth Prime Minister, carried out the operation. All the Jewish bombers dressed as – Palestanians! – to shift blame upon those not involved. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_David_Hotel_bombing

But that's old news. More recently there are reflections on the activities of the Shin Bet and their ethical and strategic impact on the State of Israel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gatekeepers_%28film%29
