Another day, yet another Ben Carson story uncovered as a lie. Looks like he's just been making up his entire life story all along.

I have to wonder if he was ever really a doctor, or is that yet another fabrication?

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/ben-carson-west-point-admission-
fabrication

He's already been caught fabricating stories about his wild and rebellious youth - not one person who knew him growing up can verify any piece of his claims - and now his BS story about West Point is uncovered as yet another in a long string of lies.

http://www.politifact.com/personalities/ben-carson/

Politifact has rated his other statements and found 0 true or mostly true, and all of them either "half true", mostly false, false, or "Pants on Fire."

No wonder conservatives like him so much - he's a reflection of their own lying selves!

BTW, the thread title was lifted from one of Al Franken's books.

Figured I'd better put that out there before one of our local liars started whining about it (not that many of them have ever read a book...)

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Oh, I was going to post this as "Houston, we have a problem: Ben Carson lied"

I see Ben Carson's cartoon-airplane spiraling downwards, with smoke coming out of its engine. Dr Carson has ZERO political experience. Whatever pull Dr Carson has with the Republican voters is because

1) He's a black man who made good in the American system
2) He's technically competent, dispassionate, and objective.

It sure doesn't help his campaign that lying about his inspirational background pretty much torpedoes his appeal on both counts! Because while he may be a neurosurgeon, he's now looking like a flimflam man.

I think you mean "in the American welfare system."

Carson conveniently leaves out his hand-outs and hand-ups he received along the way, instead trying to convince everyone that what he did, he did all on his lonesome. It's yet another lie in an ever growing web of deceit.

Obviously the man has some intellect to have accomplished what he has accomplished,
but, oftentimes, people like that lose touch with reality. And what I mean by "people like that" both people with above average to superior intellect and rich folk.

Let me also say, not in every case.

But look at what critics and "experts" have been saying about the Republican presidential race. People who support Trump and Carson do so because they are "outsiders" - they are tired of the professional "lifers" who inhabit the Washington scene.

Why do I bring this up? Because the two gentlemen have absolutely no experience in government politics, and because the "insiders" have lost touch with the people. I watched a report on MSNBC about the Dems failures in the deep south, and how they have merely paid citizens in the south lip service and little else when it comes to addressing their concerns. But there is a price to pay for that lack of commitment,
just like there is a price to pay for going in the other direction when it comes
advancing the body politic with amateurs. You get Trumps and Carsons (and Cruz's, Rubio's, etc.)

So, we get a Tea Party candidate, who polled horribly, win by a large margin in
Kentucky. My guess is that it won't be the last surprise.

Ben Carson is forcing people to rethink their ideas of how smart someone must be to be a neurosurgeon.

Why is it assumed that one must be some kind of intellectual giant to operate on a brain? It's not like he was particularly good at it. Have you seen the people he deformed with his "expertise"?

his-background?cid=sm_fb_maddow

"Media Matters pulled together a sampling of reactions from media figures on the right who seemed rather alarmed by today’s revelations. Erick Erickson, for example, called this “the beginning of Ben Carson’s end”; Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich described the news as “very bad”; and Breitbart News’ John Nolte wrote on Twitter, “If this is true, Carson is done.”"

Carson himself is walking back his story, now claiming that the offer was "informal" (a qualifier that never seemed to make it into any of his books or speeches when talking about this thing that never happened).

Quote:

“Because I had done so extraordinarily well you know I was told that someone like me [could] get a scholarship to West Point,” Carson told the New York Times. “It was, you know, an informal ‘with a record like yours we could easily get you a scholarship to West Point.’”

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I'm curious if Uncle Ben's lies will do him in politically.

It always surprises me what manner of things are acceptable and what ends up being (finally) the last straw.
