Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

"Turkey has accused Russia of bombing a hospital and a mosque in the Syrian city of Idlib."

Yep, that's all the evidence THETHREESTOOGES need. Somebody somewhere said so.

Here ya go: another something somebody somewhere said for you to believe in http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/cms/

Let me just point out that the author left out vital relevant facts in the opinion piece. Doing that is known as cherry-picking. And whether you do that in the news, in discussion, in debate or in opinion, when you distort the facts, you've changed the nature of your communication into propaganda. But WE don't have any of THAT in the US, do we?!

Wow, so many threads, so many strawmen.

No one here has said anything about Turkey. We've linked to the BBC, Guardian and Washington Post, all reporting on attacks confirmed by the UN.

Are you pulling a random quote out of one of the reports, an accusation made by Turkey, and trying to pin it on us even though neither of us have even mentioned it?

Yes - and?

Here by the way, is how I introduced that link:

"Reported airstrikes on residential areas in rebel-held Idlib, dozens of civilians killed"

You realise the fact that these were airstrikes against a rebel-held city implicates Assad and Russia, don't you? Or do you imagine the rebels bombed themselves with their non-existent air force?

These are two different posts by KPO that are getting confused by you. One was posted on the 31st at 12:30 pm. And the bottom one on June 1st at 4:30 pm. KPO described what he said in each post accurately. The one you say starts with Turkey actually starts off "The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Russian aircraft targeted various positions overnight."

Then it suggests Turkey believes the same.

Turkey has accused Russia of bombing a hospital and a mosque in the Syrian city of Idlib. line 1

Activists say at least 23 people died in the air strikes but Turkey puts the figure at more than 60. line 2

Russia has denied its planes carried out the attacks. line 3

Reged Ahmad reports. line 4

So, when ONEOFTHETHREESTOOGES said neither of us have even mentioned what he meant was that he and the other person posting under his name cross-posted.

This is completely out of context. Did you notice KPO posted a video link to follow? His post "Footage shows child being pulled alive from the rubble of the Idlib strikes" says nothing about who did it.

Did you watch the video? You quote one of three sentences about what Turkey thinks written below the video. That's the whole thing, three sentences and only one mentions turkey.

The video talks about the bombing as viewed by the UN and watch groups as well as Turkey. You dismissed the BBC video apparently without watching it. You jumped instead to a headline below the video that reports about Turkeys claims against Russia.

Sorry to burst your bubble 1kiki but KPO directed us to the video, not the headline about Turkeys accusations.

Again I quote KPO's post.

"Footage shows child being pulled alive from the rubble of the Idlib strikes"

Like I have said before, you and SIG twist what others post so you can throw lies about them back.

It's unbelievable and shows the desperation felt by Assad and Putin. You only manage to bomb the amount of hospitals they have if you are searching them out and targeting them.

A lack of appropriate outrage allows this to continue.

Been away myself, still away. It has been fascinating. Big city, first time using Uber. 10 rides so far, all the drivers have been from outside the US. Gay, straight, who knows, Jordanian, Ukrainian (I should start a thread from what he had to say - "I am more Ukrainian today thanks to Putin than I have ever been... he has done more harm to his own people with his propaganda and lies than Stalin..." !), Indian, Italian , men, women, young people, every color - incredible diversity and lots of stories. Totally inspiring.

Must have been good for that Ukrainian to encounter an American who was well informed about events in his country. I wonder if the guy was a Russian speaker - I get the impression from his words ("I am more Ukrainian today thanks to Putin...") that he might have been.

What he says about harming the Russian people through propaganda is dead on - but it also applies to millions of Western Russophiles, like our two Putin fangirls, whose brains have been thoroughly addled. I often imagine people on this site from 4-5 years ago, in Signy's saner times, coming back and shaking their heads in disbelief at her shameless support for figures such as Putin, Le Pen and Donald Trump.

You don't drop barrel bombs from "planes", only helicopters. So somebody is lying or confused.

Also, "barrel bombs" are a very low-tech weapon which exposes the bomber to ground fire, since they need to be dropped from relatively slow-moving, low-flying helicopters. They also tend to be low yield. Anyone who is using a "barrel bomb" is scraping the bottom of the barrel, so to speak, weapons-wise.

Stop sigging*. Only dropped from helicopters? Low yield??

Quote:

A barrel bomb is an improvised unguided bomb, sometimes described as a flying IED (improvised explosive device). They are typically made from a large barrel-shaped metal container that has been filled with high explosives, possibly shrapnel, oil or chemicals as well, and then dropped from a helicopter or airplane.[1] Due to the large amount of explosives (up 1,000 kilograms), their poor accuracy and indiscriminate use in populated civilian areas (including refugee camps), the resulting detonations have been devastating.[2][3][4] Critics have characterised them as weapons of terror and illegal under international conventions.[5]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrel_bomb

Needless to say, a metric tonne of high explosives is not low yield.

Dozens of U.S. Diplomats Press Obama to Strike Syria's Assad: Reports

Dozens of U.S. diplomats have reportedly called for airstrikes against the government of Syria's President Bashar Assad in an internal memo that amounted to a scathing critique of White House policy.

The "dissent channel cable" was signed by 51 State Department officers who have been involved with U.S.-Syria policy, an official familiar with the memo told The Wall Street Journal.

Russia's State TV Airs Evidence Of Russian Cluster Bombs In Syria

Oops

Russia’s state-run RT network has broadcast footage appearing to show Russian jets in Syria armed with cluster bombs, weapons which are widely condemned for their indiscriminate nature and which Moscow has denied using during its intervention in the five-year-old conflict.

A news segment aired by RT on June 18 showed two canister-like attachments under the wing of a Russian jet that bear codes identified by independent activists as those of Russian cluster munitions.

It's a wonder there are any civilians or hospitals or children left. I guess when they are all gone Assad/Russia will have won. Guess they'll celebrate the victory then.

I find myself wondering if Russia signed the Geneva convention. If so Putin needs to be declared a war criminal because he and Assad are clearly targeting hospitals.

A "human rights activist" in the part of Aleppo that has been controlled by al Qaida for over a year? And I suppose this "human rights activist" was protesting the trampling of human rights by jihadi terrorists that whole time, correct?

Uh huh.

Quote:

"Really Aleppo is just another scale entirely," said James Sadri, the director of The Syria Campaign in Beirut, an advocacy group that calls for humanitarian action in the war-ravaged country. Mr Sadri said it was unjustifiable that the world had failed to act to help protect civilians in Aleppo.
"You know we have got four of the five permanent security members that are now flying in Syrian airspace and yet none of them is doing anything to stop this aerial war on these civilians which is now focused on Aleppo," Mr Sadri said.

There was a cessation of hostilities a month and some ago. Russia was pushing for a full cease-fire, it was the USA who was hanging back.

al Nusra, al Qaida, ISIL, and their various affiliates weren't part of that cessation of hostilities, but any Syrian rebel who laid down his or her arms nad was willing to separate out from foreign jihadist would have been accepted into the cessation of hostilities. Russia repeatedly asked the USA to provide coordinates of "loyal opposition" rebels so that they wouldn't be targeted, which the USA repeatedly refused to provide. In fact, the jihadists and their Turkish, Saudi, and USA-suppliers used that time to regroup and re-arm. Jihadists and Muslim extremists have been holding part of eastern Aleppo hostage for over a year. They're about to get their comeuppance.

So why don't you bitch about those fucking terrorists who are holding eastern Aleppo hostage? They had a chance to give up their arms a month ago. All they had to do was separate themselves into rebel and jihadi factions, which they failed to do. Instead, you repeat terrorist symp propaganda. That seems to make you terrorist symps too.

I think it's time you disabused yourself of that pleasant little fairy tale about our fearless leaders being some sort of surrogate daddy or mommy, laying awake at night thinking about how to protect the kids. HA! In reality, they're thinking about who to sell them to so that they can get a few more shekels in their pockets.

Uh huh.

If they didn't want to give up their arms, why didn't they take the second option? Instead, they soldiered on under the FSA-banner: a mixed bag of Turkish, Chechen, Saudi, and Tunisian terrorists and their so-called "pro-democracy" Syrian brethren.

I'm going to point out, once again, that this "Observatory for Human Rights" is one guy in London. That's about as credible as asking one anti-Castro expat in a Miami condo about the situation in Cuba. But western media rebroadcasts his shit without question.

Sorry, I thought you would address Russia's use of cluster bombs and targeting of hospitals. Silly me

SIG, you have nothing but an Ideological perspective if you don't address all the facts. And that is what my posts are generally about. Pointing out when you start another of your endless threads, that you are as always, posting to your agenda. Russia good west bad, and perpetuate a feeling of doom about America's actions and prospects.

Syria conflict: Rebels 'filmed beheading boy' in Aleppo

Quote:

Videos have emerged online that appear to show Syrian rebels taunting and then beheading a boy they say is a captured Palestinian pro-government fighter. One video shows five men posing with the frightened child, who could be as young as 10, in the back of a truck. One of the men grips him by the hair. The same man is later filmed apparently cutting the boy's head off. The incident is reported to have taken place in Handarat, north of Aleppo, where there has been heavy fighting.

... A report published by the human rights group Amnesty International earlier this month detailed a series of violations allegedly committed by Nour al-Din al-Zinki Movement fighters, including abductions and torture.

The group is reported to have benefited from financial and military support from the US, UK, France, Turkey, Qatar and other Gulf Arab states in the past.

Another French success: France bombs 120 civilians in Syria - 'retaliation' for Nice?

Quote:

Just days after Tunisian-born French resident Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel drove a truck into a crowded Bastille Day celebration in Nice, France, killing at least 84, a French-led bombing attack on the Syrian villages of Tokhar and Hoshariyeh today has reportedly killed more than 120 civilians.

Mainstream media and even the rebel-friendly Syrian Observatory for Human Rights have confirmed the killings and the civilian victims.

Well, even the State Department says they've been backing this particular group.

Another epic fail on your part.

In reality- the reality that you try so hard to deny- a large part of the "FSA" consists of Wahhabi Sunni extremists - many of them foreign- fighting under the "FSA" flag. Whatever pro-democracy elements may have made up the FSA in the beginning have been overwhelmed by Sunni extremists, both foreign and Syrian, and the "FSA" hardly deserves your continued devotion to the fiction of "pro-democracy freedom fighters".

Well at the moment you disbelieve all SOHR/monitoring groups' reports that speak of Russian/Assad civilian deaths, but believe without question their reports that speak of US coalition civilian deaths. You underline the words 'mainstream media' - yes mainstream media reported this instance of civilian deaths in Manjib, but what sources do you think they were quoting? The SOHR, and other similar monitoring groups of course. There's no deal I can strike with you that will get you to have intellectual standards, if you fail so utterly to impose them on yourself. Nor am I willing to compromise my own intellectual standards for such a bargain.
