The Republican party leaderz are reaping the reward uv pandering to the stupid peepl uv America. Trump will be their nominee.

They dont like it, but if they were 1/4 az smart az they thot, they woud hav realized that being the Party uv Stoopid openz them up to any opportunistic shyster with enuf money to operate without their help.

I'd like to extend my congratulationz to them with a perfectly appropriate
Nelson Muntz HA HA!

So now we get into the "which party is more stoopid" argument?

I disagree with Libertarians 150% on their economic policy, but you have to admit: Their foreign policy is a damn sight better than either Dems or Repubs, and they don't believe in militarized police. They may believe in an impossible-to-implement vision of a society which interacts only along "market forces" but they also don't believe in using weapons to implement their vision. And since the current system relies HEAVILY on the US military to enforce currency primacy and corporate supremacy, you'll notice that TPTB do everything they need to (which isn't much) to minimize/ trivialize the Libertarians.

Republicans have been riding the evangelicals for three decades. The GOP has used the religious mega-churches and other organizing-power to capture votes. They've also fanned anti-gubmint, pro-white sentiment. Obviously, they have no interest in educating their blindingly stupid voters into 19th century scientific and economic realities, much less 21st century. Unfortunately for the GOP, they've actually created the division that is splitting their party: The original "establishment" Republicans (educated, wealthy white men, heads of companies and banks) are the natural targets of these 18th-century know-nothing voters who want to just "bring the whole thing down".

Those wealthy people, seeing which way the wind is blowing, have jumped to the Democratic Party, which (since Clinton, at least) started representing the wealthy. Democratic voters - liberals, for the most part- tend to start out with more "reasonable" positions. They tend not to fight science on issues like global warming, they don't think "trickle down" is a good plan, they tend to be more pro-government, and they don't believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible. On the other hand, my experience here with liberals is that they are just as unlikely to re-examine their positions when new data comes along. They hold just-as-reflexive foreign policy positions, and while they cloak their willingness to destroy other nations with nicer-sounding names ("freedom", R2P, etc) they're just as likely bomb and invade others as their pro-war GOP counterparts. Also, they tend not to have noticed that their party no longer represents them. And when challenged, they can be just as nasty as the rightwingers.

For many years, I argued vociferously against the rightwing here. There was a lot to argue about! Afghanistan, Iraq and the phantom WMD, 9-11, mass surveillance and militarized police, torture, loosey-goosey authorization of use of force and the blurry-lined "Glabal War on Terror", GITMO, historical wealth inequality and impending economic collapse, pro-rich tax policies, so-called "free" trade agreements, the racist (yes racist) criticisms of Obama ... At some point, I decided to try arguing with the liberals here, and I find many are JUST AS HIDEBOUND, JUST AS IRRATIONAL, JUST AS NASTY as the conservatives. But ... and ... they think they mean well! So they're all self-satisfied to boot!

Eight years of Democratic Presidency (two years of absolute Democratic control) and nothing has changed. The needle hasn't budged in any real way, and the Democrats in charge are still destroying nations, the wealth gap is even greater than before, TTIP and TPP are still on the table, the banks are still unregulated and still too big to fail (only now we have a formal "bail in" procedure where your savings are forfeit) ...

At this point, I don't see any big difference between parties. The Democratic party has changed under the feet of its constituency, and its constituency has not kept up with that realization. So, who's more stupid?

Yanno, this whole RvD argument is stoopid, and anyone who engages in it is stoopid too.

The reality is that as long as you vote for the establishment, you're going to get hosed, whether a D or a R wins. That's the politics of divide and conquer: make up stoopid divisions and get ppl to fight over them while you make off with the loot.

If you can't tell which party is stupid, check out their debates.

R = Clown show. D = Actual debate. Done.

The Rs talked about their pee pees and ate boogers and called names, like a bunch of toddlers.

The Ds debated important issues and actually answered tough questions instead of whining about the tough questions.

You'd have to be blind to not see the difference.

First of all, did you know that I'm a registered Democrat?

Secondly - and more importantly, YOU'RE "rong". I don't paint "everybody" with the same brush. In this thread, didn't I post

Quote:

There are some honorable people in the Republican party (Rand Paul) and some honorable people in the Democratic Party, but except for those few people, BOTH parties are the party of stupid.

So, in the Democratic Party I can count Russ Feingold, WI (who is running again for Senate. GO RUSS!), Alan Grayson FL, Tulsi Gabbard HI (who is an Iraq war veteran and perfectly unflappable in interview as a result) and Elizabeth Warren MA. In the past, I could point to Dennis Kucinich and Marcy Kaptur.

Tulsi, among other things, just left the DNC to endorse Bernie Sanders. Among the Republicans I count Ron and Rand Paul as worthy of a vote.

So clearly, I DO make distinctions between politicians and the party that they belong to. I also distinguish among females, and among people of color.

Do you? No, you don't. Your thread title paints an entire political party and all of it's members as "stoopid".

-----

Yanno, I get a fair number of election mailers from the Democratic Party (being a registered D) from people running for office, like Tammy Duckworth and Maggie Hassan (who was even endorsed by Warren). But before I part with my hard-earned dollars, I like to see what they have to say on certain subjects, so I do a google search.

If they were in office at the time, how did they vote on the bank bailout, the Iraq war, Obamacare, and the Patriot Act? How did they feel about military intervention in Libya (a clusterfuck if there ever was one) and how do they feel about military or covert intervention in Syria? What is their stand on global warming? How did they vote, or what do they feel, about "free" trade? Do they they think abortion should remain legal? What about net neutrality? Money in elections?

I was disappointed to learn, for example, that despite Warren's endorsement of Hassan, Hassan is no bank-averse governor: She appointed a former long-term bank lobbyist as chief regulator in her state. And Tammy Duckworth ducks (ahem!) quite a few issues.

It's quite an eye-opener, learning about a politician's stand on various issues. I recommend it before you donate or vote.

OK. I agree that you dont make that mistake. But...

Quote:

Rand Paul iz an idiot, plain and simple, so I say you are painting peepl with the rong brush and not properly interpretting the topic title.

The Republican party iz actively, openly, consistently and BOLDLY oppozing everything Obama iz for. Sins Obama iz very smart and trying to help America and the world, by default, the GoPs must favor bad ideaz, stupid choisez and counterproductiv actionz. Even if you can find 'good' Republicanz who arent stoopid, wether they are politicianz or voterz, they are not the majority or even uv any effect on the overall stoooopidity the party iz working for. The politicianz RELY on their voterz being stoopid enuf to believ their liez.

At sum point, perhaps a year into Obamaz 1st term at the absolute latest, a reazonable person who valuez their reputation woud hav had to quit identifing az Republican.

And, any 'new' politician running az a Republican coud be safely labeled az stoopid (Joe Walsh) or a con man cashing in on stoopidity (Ted Cruz).

Quote:

I dont hav any spare money. Even if I did, I woudnt waste it on campane contributionz.

I'd expect everybody to do sum research befor forming an opinion... if I didnt alredy know most humanz are idiots.

So, you are alwayz rite about everything, therefor anybody who voted agenst your opinion iz bad or stupid. Maybe you shoud run for office.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

... how did they vote on ... ? How did they feel about ... and how do they feel about ... ? What is their stand on ... ? How did they vote, or what do they feel, about ... ? Do they they think ... ? What about ... ? ... ?

Jo

I'm seeing a lot of questions, and no claims about right or wrong.

If you're not voting for candidates whose history and positions are congruent with your own - whatever they are - then why are you voting for them? And why are YOU specifically criticizing Signy for checking that out before voting? Isn't that just doing the homework and not being an idiot like you claim most humanz are?

What are you saying ... that I should vote for somebody else's opinion?
That I should vote on blind faith?
I mean, what are you advocating, really? It doesn't make any sense; I can't even comprehend it, so please explain it in more detail.

Quote:

The Republican party iz actively, openly, consistently and BOLDLY oppozing everything Obama iz for. Sins Obama iz very smart and trying to help America and the world, by default

REALLY??? Does that explain why he destroyed Libya and destabilized Syria and the Ukraine, and is pushing for MORE "free trade"?

By the way, I thought the Bill Maher segment was sarcastic, condescending, and untrue. Also, he's doing exactly what you accuse me of, and what you tell others not to do: paint everyone with the same brush.

BTW, Ron and Rand Paul aren't total idiots; as far as I'm concerned they're only half-idiots, but the half that's smart is REALLY smart.
