Wishing on a Wishing Well.... Kiss and Tell ;)

The fact that you don't know PM Dawn makes me want to know you more.

Are you older? Are you younger?

What other songs do you like from that era?

You can say any pop songs of that type, but you'll forgive me if I keep it "Romantic", won't you?

These (mostly) white boys from the early 90s made plenty of B-Sides that children shouldn't have listened to if their parents were doing their jobs.

They're all 30+ now....

When I was 11 years old, I weighed 74 lbs. No joke, every time I stepped on a scale for like 2 years in jr high, without fail, 74 lbs no matter how much i exercised or ate. And I ate a TON.

My problem was that I directed these types of feelings toward girls who would never recriprocate them to a dorky 74 lb weakling who wore glasses and braces and never tried out for track even though he was super fast, or never did chorus even though he had a gift of song and especially never did drama even though he was probably a born actor.

Even though by 23 he had long shed the glasses and braces and spent countless hours and hundreds of dollars on GNC supplements and became a 5'6" Beast of a man, he was never happy. In fact, since he was never an "Alpha Male" in the first place, he got even less dates by the cute girls because he was so imposing...

I dunno. I loved "Color Me Badd" back then. I even thought the lead singer was George Michale back then. We didn't have an internet or IMDB or whatever so we couldn't check things like that.

Wishing Well was always great. Reminds me of the few good times me and my bros had with my mom. She already had a good job back then, but it was before she got promoted and got all Workaholic and crazy about things.

I remember saying things to her in the late 80's like "You're the best mom a kid could ever have" before giving her an eskimo kiss at night.

Before "The Man" turned her into a Godzilla Monster of a woman.

I love that I'm cool with both of my parents and step parents today. I just am kind of shitty that I didn't get that cool upbringing by both of them together that all of my friends growing up with did.

Looking back, that's kind of funny. I was the only kid from single parents in my entire "Stranger Things" group of friends.

I'm not, however, the only one who didn't get married.

Of the two that did, only one of them, I believe, did it for True Love.

And the moral of that story is, Even if your odds are only 1/5, True Love is still Happy :)

RIP Robbie.....

This was released just about that time too.... Too old for Roller Rink Parties, not old enough to pay the bills yet :)

Sorry Brenda..... But I just keep talking.... :)

I thought I had first heard this song while working at KMart one night...

But looking it up I realized that it was by a white girl group "Expose" from the 90's with a lot of familiar tracks. Even looking up Expose on youtube won't yield this song as a hit if you don't ask for it.

For whatever reason, here I am, a man in my mid-30s, working a shit job for shit pay, but whenver this song came on I was just happy doing it.

(sorry.... talking to myself here...... WHY CAN'T I FIND THE SONG????? EVEN A GOOGLE SEARCH WITH A TOP 8 LIST DOESN'T SHOW IT!!!!)

.........
......
....
...

..

.

Sorry.... Had to really internalize and get to my inner White Boy Chi there....

This is seriously one of the best songs EVER MADE by any "band" ever, and a F'King youtube and Google Search for Expose doesn't even list it on their top 8 or 10.

I know they had more than a few hits in the early 90s', but this wasn't a B track and it was pretty awesome.

I guess, here's Jack, Bringing it back! :)

I hope you love it too, Brenda :)

This will probably be the last one....

But at this point, It's like an "Impress Brenda" thread for me ;)

Not that I'd know it because my split parents never sprung for the Disney Channel, but Markita was one of the original real life Disney Princesses....

She was just another voice on B96 to me, and I was like 6 or 7 and totally in love with just her voice alone.

I'd sing along to the song until my younger brother made fun of me for singing a girls song. Never did it out loud in front of company since then...

I don't want to be one of those old people who talk about how good things used to be.

I'll just ask you if you find this as hauntingly chilling as I did.

I just don't think a song like this would ever be made today.

Maybe a remake, but it would be vapid and soulless.....

Forgive me for hijacking my own thread, and I seriously do hope you're enjoying it Brenda ;)

But I have come to realize that although I really do love a lot of Male Lead Music, many of my favorite songs ever made are also by females of any generation.

I know that "It's Hard for Me to Say I'm Sorry" by Chicago is the first song I actually remember because my parents split when I was 5.

But really, if I looked back on it, was it the first song? There are two other songs that I remember from that time, and I remember enjoying them with my parents together in the car. One is "Hungry Like the Wolf" by Duran Duran, and the other is "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper.

Cyndi would be my first female favorite song.

Madonna gave my my first boner with Lucky Star. ;)

Laura Brannigan made one of the best songs ever made...

and I thought it was a Halloween song about monsters... ;)

as an older teen and into my 20s, I'd be lying if I didn't say that Britney Spears didn't make me hard and some of her music wasn't extremely titillating.

But even in the mostly male-driven "grunge rock" phase, I loved bands like Garbage and Fiona Apple and Sneaker Pimps and Veruca Salt. (There was a gun named after them in Borderlands 2, BTW.)

IMO, Fiona Apple was particularly talented. It's a shame that nobody really took her seriously when she started to age. I know her last album, "When the Pawn" actually had 150 words in the title, but people just shit on her and called her crazy. She won an award and in her acceptance speech, she basically shit on everyone that gives awards.

Then She was never heard from again....

At least not in any way that would make money.

She would have been AWESOME in the Youtube Generation.

Since then, Taylor Swifts' "Trouble" and Sara Bareilles' "Brave"

Honestly, if you really boil it down, I'd much rather listen to a talented women sing than a man any day.

(Just keeping it real, but it's most likely because I have a dick)....

I am not a Feminist.

I am an Egalitarian.

May we all come together one day without our biases and Bullshit and insecurities and actually come to Copacetisism.

I know it's not a real word, even though it was coined in the mid-90s and Websters just added Emoji, but the fact that it's not a real word 20 years later makes me love it even more. :)

Love your Brother and your Sister. Keep it Copacetic. :)

I felt that I should actually post Sara's lyrics because I think that everyone would be a better person if they enjoy the song and try to live by it.

There's actually a lot of wrong lyrics on the internet. Maybe mine is wrong too. It's amazing what you can think what is "right" in music if somebody says it is the actual words.

Although I believe all of these lyrics to be correct after hearing this song countless times, I welcome any differing opinions to them.

You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody's lack of love
Or you can start speaking up

Nothing's gonna hurt you the way that words do
And they settle 'neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you...

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave

Everybody's been there, everybody's been stared down By the enemy
Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing
Bow down to the mighty
Don't run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there's a way out of the cage we live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
and show me...
How big your brave is!

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave

And since your history of silence
Won't do you any good
Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty
Why don't you tell them the truth?

Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
See you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you

I have no idea if Sara even knows of the word Copacetic, or if She made an entire song making up the very concept of it.

Either way, She's pretty awesome.

Everyone over 25 I'm sure grew up with MTV and knows Fiona Apple's "Criminal", so I won't bother posting that here.

Of Her many, many amazing songs, two of Her songs that got heavy airplay for the time are still my favorite.

The first was "Shadowboxer". It might be conjecture, but I believe she wasn't even "legal" when it was made. I wasn't, but when I fantasized about being Her lover I wasn't going to tattle.

Think about that for a moment after watching this video.

Not "legal" or barely legal when She made this. She only wrote her own music. Everything about Shadowboxer was Her baby. She wasn't faking playing that piano that well to accompany Her voice....

I was younger than Her when She did this song, and now I'm twice Her age when She did it and I don't have a single thing I've ever done that would matter 2 weeks from now if I died tomorrow.

I haven't seen Fiona in years and she's probably just as old and relatively unnattractive as I am almost 2 decades later.... but I'd love to be her friend and just bullshit and have coffee once a week with a mind like hers.

She did some other songs here and there that got airplay, and Criminal was Her "Sexy" one....

But my personal favorite was called "Sleep to Dream".

It's one of my favorite songs ever made.

Taylor Swifts song "Trouble" was one of my top 5 songs made by mainstream in the last 5 years, but Taylor always sings about somebody breaking her heart. Like seriously, 4 out of 5 Swift songs are about love and heartbreak....

Sleep To Dream was about that too, but in TRUE 90's Feminist Fashion.

I abhor 2016 Feminism and SJW bullshit, but 90's Feminism was something I could always get behind. When Fiona sang Her songs, they were so easily interchangeable with He and She that a man could sing her song karaoke with only adding a letter to a single word and making it from a male point of view.

Here it is..... Sleep To Dream.

And if anybody thinks I liked Her because She was just another submissive female in my youth, Google "When The Pawn" and "Fiona Apple".

You're bound to see a lot of hate and critiques her way. You'll probably see a few videos of her Grammy award when she basically told the committee to fuck themselves without saying it. She rejected the Disney Princess Image in full view of The Public a full 2 1/2 decades before my niece was born into a "Frozen" world.

Outro...

Not one of my favorites by Fiona, but maybe you like it more than I do. It's still pretty awesome.

She says "I'll give you love, if you say it's okay", submissively....

If you were a man and believed that...
