I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Well, it depends. Trump is not a hero personified; there are people behind him who we don't see.

NO, NOT RUSSIANS.

I've been posting over and over that there is a group of security people - especially the DIA and FBI - who have been fighting with neocons and corrupt assholes in the CIA and State Department, so Trump is not a lone gunman (so to speak), he has "his people". He also has his "enemies list" which include Republicans, and he has a good memory. He will need that, because he will have to fire about 1000 people if he's going to be ab;e to impose his new policies, whatever they are.

Most immediately, the stock markets are already crashing. Since banks have lent to hedge funds and have themselves bought stocks I hope that the losses can be limited to stocks and real estate, and not turn into a giant financial contagion. Either way, when it hits bottom will be time to buy, although it may not go up again for 15 years.

In CA, the market for counterfeit green cards will go up. If I wanted to make a lot of $$, that would be where to plunk down some cash.

Russia has been holding off bombing Aleppo in light of the USA election. Since Obama is still the CIC, I expect he will try some sort of "hail Mary" (maybe Raqqa) ... in addition to Mosul ... before he leaves office. And the Russians will go full-bore, before Obama leaves. After that, I hope to see a real "peace dividend" from The Donald.

I expect that a number of fine EPA (and for all I know, other agencies) staffers will retire, or at least mark their retirements on their calendars. EVEN UNDER OBAMA the EPA was never fully-funded; I'm sure it will be worse after January. Same goes for a lot of Federal regulatory agencies.

The States will have to be prepared to carry health insurance forward without Federal subsidies. For many people, Obamacare is a dire necessity, so I hope the states will craft something better. I know that CA was thinking about creating a single-payer plan: Taking all of the $ currently being poured into CA healthcare from a variety of sources (MediCal subsidies, employer-funding, Medicare (?) subsidies, county ER and hospital service etc) and applying it to all citizens and greencard holders. They held off because Obamacare was waiting in the wings.

If the states want to make "progressive" progress on things like healthcare and climate change, they will have to either go it alone or create some consortium of states.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I gave dumbya up until 9/11 and his phony claim to 'have proof' al Qaeda did it within a day or two of the attack.

I gave Obama about a year and a half to start to think about making good on his promises - yanno, close Guantanamo, be the most transparent government ever, increased whistle-blower protection, and so on.

Mostly I wonder how deeply Trump's agenda and the republican agenda directly coincide. Where they differ I don't expect much to get done. Where they coincide, it could be like grease through a goose. And what would it take for Trump and the professional republican politicians to start negotiating deals - my support for this for your support for that.

I am both stunned and elated. For me, it's not so much that Trump won but that Hillary lost.

And the truly best part last night and this morning was watching the moaning, squirming, and world-shattering disappointment of all the media libtards on CNN and MSNBC ... just priceless!

We've seen the last of the Clintons, except when they're put on trial, and all of Obama's treachery can now be undone. Christmas indeed came early this year!!

Oof, yeah, this is a big one. Intelligence agency meddling in this election was very obvious, and we know that they lean right wing, so they can get enmeshed in the tribalistic "my team must win no matter the cost" mentality as much as anyone. I think they were more strongly implicated than Russia, the only thing Russia was involved in as far as I can see was the wikileaks.

Which leads to this:

My concern is that the agencies will turn on Donald real fast when they see that he doesn't entertain their paranoid Russian Cold War rivalry. They might have put Donald up as a scapegoat, and the fool doesn't even know it yet.

Yeah, some of my friends are poor and have a lot of medical problems, so this is going to hit them hard too. They're pretty scared.

Islamist extremists welcome Trump's victory

Abdullah al-Muhaisny, a key authority among radical circles in Syria, says Trump presidency will sow division and expose west’s hatred of Muslims

Jihadis have welcomed Donald Trump’s surprise victory in the American presidential race, saying his election would sow greater division and expose what they described as the hatred and racism of the west towards Muslims.

The endorsement of the election result by extreme Islamist figures highlighted fears that Trump’s divisive rhetoric and call to ban Muslims from entering the US could empower radicals who have argued that the west seeks Islam’s destruction and is at war with its adherents.

The idea has been central to Islamic State propaganda – at its height the terror group called on Muslims to abandon life abroad and flock to the territories it controls or risk indignity and oppression in western societies.

“Trump’s victory is an important step towards the victory of the Sunnis,” said Abdullah al-Muhaisny, a key authority among radical circles in Syria, who is believed by the US to be in league with al-Qaida.

“We have long tried to explain that the fight is not against terrorism, but against the Sunnis, and the mujahideen are just the frontline,” he added in a series of tweets on Thursday. “The American strategy will not change much, what has changed is that the war is open and not secret, and that is a good thing.”

Muhaisny said Trump’s victory will lay the groundwork for “bloody battles and great chaos,” saying he hoped the president-elect’s strategy of “exclusion and crushing opponents” will sow greater division in America.

Abu Muhammad al-Maqdisi, a key intellectual figure in al-Qaida who once shared a cell with Isis founder Abu Mus’ab al-Zarqawi, said he hoped Trump’s election would herald America’s ruin.

“Trump reveals the real mentality of the Americans and their racism towards Muslims and Arabs and everything,” he said in a tweet. “He only reveals what his predecessors have kept hidden.”

Rita Katz, the director of Site Intelligence, an organisation that tracks jihadi chatter on social media and online forums, said militants were predicting that Trump’s election would unite the ranks of jihadis and expose latent hatred towards Muslims.

Katz tweeted: “Pro-#ISIS & #Jihadis say they “prefer” #Trump to #Clinton because he is “telling Muslims what half of America thinks of them.”

Hamza Caribi, who runs a Twitter account affiliated with Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, the former al-Qaida wing in Syria, said Trump proved the failure of democracy. “From this day forward we will no longer need videos explaining the west’s plots,” he said. “We will only need to retweet what Trump says.”

Let us celebrate a new holiday -- the coming to power of Goldman Sachs:

Today, Trump adds another Goldman Sachs lawyer to his Wall Street dream team

Trump succeeded at portraying himself as a populist scourge of international finance — a line he sold to the media and to many voters, but which Wall Street itself swiftly debunked by sending shares of major banking conglomerates soaring on the news that he had won the election.

The stock market rally that has continued since Election Day has been overwhelmingly bank-led, with Goldman Sachs taking the lead.

Jay Clayton, a veteran Wall Street lawyer, will serve as the new chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Clayton works for, among other clients, Goldman Sachs. Which makes a lot of sense since Trump’s National Economic Council director will be a top executive from Goldman Sachs and his Treasury secretary will be a hedge fund manager who got his start by working at Goldman Sachs.

To those who listened to Trump on the campaign trail loudly and repeatedly denounce Goldman Sachs, which he said had “total control” over both Hillary Clinton and Ted Cruz, the sharply pro–Wall Street tilt of his administration may come as a surprise.
