Trump’s chief strategist Steve Bannon is calling for a war to reset the entire world, a war bigger than Vietnam or Iraq.

Steve Bannon’s advice is that America can return to its previous Greatness only after a devastating war. Do you remember “Make America Great Again”? That is how Bannon does it.

Before he worked in the White House, Bannon was writer and director for nine “documentaries” propagandizing his theme of redeeming America with a World War.

You can watch a 9 minute video about the themes within Bannon’s propaganda films at https://qz.com/933459/to-understand-steve-bannon-you-need-to-watch-thr
ee-of-his-movies
/ or on youtube.

Trump is nuts for hiring Steve Bannon. If Trump starts Bannon’s War for the good of American Christians, Trump is extra nuts.

Trump's first budget proposal will call for $54 billion increase in defense spending. It's a step toward war. The budget could be indicating that Bannon has already convinced Trump that war will fix everything, make America great again.

I'm not happy seeing an increase in military spending, but 54 billion is a drop in the bucket really...

http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/defense_spending

After inflation that's about a 4-5% increase, and still well under its peak during the early Obama years.

Second,

the video strikes me as mostly honest, except the bit about the necessity of war and that bannon is the at the center of power. Bannon is there to get people on board, not because Trump believes in him.

That said, bannon is a little distorted. here's some origins of that kind of thought.
Winter is Coming. LOL.
The Crisis Prosperity Decay. this is a take on the stand conspiracist model
French Revolution IS the beginning of evil, it's the dawn of rationalism
Socialism soon follows, and those "evils" are a result. That's just a common conservative perspective, which I agree with. I'll go so far as to say nazi in japan were part of it, but not japan by itself. I happen to think we were wrong to go to war with japan, we should have just tried to cut off german control of japan.
Cold War=Third world war. that's a neocon thing. Neocons themselves are commies, and this is a way of them saying "but russia"
islam? no, we created radical islam using religion, that's just a bogus idea. I think that along with the pro-christian thing is a snow job, probably of zionist origin, to lure people into a crusade.
However, we've been in that crusade for some time. We've been at war all over the muslim world since 2003.
When did these movies come out?

I'm not convinced that this is calling for a new war, but maybe just setting up to claim victory over radical islam to get that reaganesque glow of herosim.
just my spot thought on the video

Drop in the bucket my ass. $54 billion is enough to build Trump's Wall two and a half times. Trump border 'wall' to cost $21.6 billion. Trump can build a wall, then another behind that, then another behind the second one. Some places along the border really won't need a third wall for triple redundancy.

And $54 billion is not a onetime increase. Next year there will be another $54 billion or more. And if Trump starts the war Steve Bannon wants, a World War that resets everything, there will be emergency appropriations. Iraq cost $823.2 billion in emergency appropriations. Steve Bannon is selling Trump on a War bigger than Iraq. Is Trump nuts enough to buy what Bannon is selling? Maybe.

I’ve got proof Trump is nuts. He can’t show that Obama used Americans to spy on Trump, so now he is claiming that Obama asked the British to do the spying. Trump is certifiably nuts.

Trump needs to get it through his head that he's now the president of the United States. When he tosses off random crap because he's bored and wants attention—and then refuses to back down because Trump never backs down—as President he is wasting everyone's time and risks far more than just his own tattered reputation.

The result so far of Trump's nuttiness is that the House and Senate are wasting time pretending to investigate Obama for a crime worse than Watergate; the Justice Department is wasting time responding to the House and Senate; the conservative media is wasting time inventing ever more crap to defend Trump's original crap; the White House communications shop is wasting time desperately trying to research spin to back up their boss; and the prime minister of Great Britain is pissed off. All because nutty Trump got bored one morning.

I spent less than $5,000 last year.

The amount of money the Government spends on anything is ridiculous. It's all just made up 1's and 0's at this point. More than 90% of the US currency out there today isn't even backed up by worthless paper anymore.

I love the knobs that think increasing the military by $54,000,000,000 is somehow a peace initiative. They're either lying or just like the guy from Memento. You don't give the military $54 billion dollars of new toys and think they won't want to play with them.

Congratulations! $5,000 per year places you high up in the world's elite since 71% of the world's population lives on less than $10 a day or $3,650 per year.

Bringing back gold as currency is very appealing to Trump. If he does it, the dollar will be more than worthless paper. The reason why they stopped using the gold standard is that people who already own all the gold would end up owning everything else in the USA, too. Leaving most gold-less Americans owning nothing might be less than a good idea, but I would like Trump to try. The chaotic aftermath could be nutty & funny. Or depressing & starving. Who's to know which without trying? Trump will try anything at least once just to see what happens in order to satisfy his curiosity.

You are a silly, silly woman.

More than 1/5th of that $5,000 was property taxes. If I lived in Illinois in the same house, 15 miles west of me, I would have paid $5,000 in property taxes alone.

The 71% you speak of don't have the high cost of living that is a built in part of the American "dream".

"Elite". That's funny. My income in 2 years has been $0. My income since 2009 has not come close to what I used to make in a year.

You think I'm silly, do you? Then you will be thinking that Paul Ryan is wise and serious.

Ryan is passionate about the idea that the government helping low-income people such as yourself can actually hurt them. As he explained, social assistance programs make it less painful for people to be jobless.

“The left,” he said, “thinks this is a good thing. They say, ‘hey, this is a new freedom — the freedom not to work.’” But they’re “making a big mistake here. What they're offering people is a full stomach and an empty soul.” Under Ryan’s health bill, strongly endorsed by Trump who in my opinion is a nut, but perhaps not in 6stringJoker's, if you want medical care then you’re going to have go out there and hustle and make sure you find yourself a soul-filling job.

Buying power of currency and international exchange rates are totally differnt things. A family living off of $2000 in Moldova is potentially better off than a family living off of $20000 in the US.

I agree with Ryan. I haven't gotten any foodstamps or any other assistance since my unemployment ran out. I'm not of retirement age, so the government shouldn't be subsidizing my choice not to work. And yes, it is a choice. I don't want to work another part time bullshit minimum wage job, but there are plenty of them out there. Eventually I will have to accept one of them if nothing better pops up.

If Obamacare hadn't come out I wouldn't be getting health insurance either, but because of the mandate I file for it because I'll be damned if I have to pay an extra $695 a year in taxes for not accepting free healthcare.

That's not why you were silly.

What's Trump going to do to fix you?

In a 2015 paper, “The Growing Importance of Social Skills in the Labor Market,” Deming writes:

High-paying, difficult-to-automate jobs increasingly require social skills. Nearly all job growth since 1980 has been in occupations that are relatively social skill-intensive. Jobs that require high levels of analytical and mathematical reasoning but low levels of social interaction have fared especially poorly.

What this means, according to Deming, is that

the economy-wide shift toward social skill-intensive occupations has occurred disproportionately among women rather than men. This is consistent with a large literature showing sex differences in social perceptiveness and the ability to work with others.

David Geary describes a vicious cycle that entraps men who either drop out of the work force or take low-skill jobs with few prospects of improvement:

The long-term political implications of large numbers of unengaged and underemployed men are potentially very serious. Marriage typically reduces men’s aggressiveness and rule breaking and focuses them on family and engagement with the community. However, if large numbers of them are not attractive as potential husbands, due to poor long-term economic prospects, then this “civilizing” influence is lost to them. I don’t know what the tipping point would be, but the potential for large-scale discontentment and destabilization increases as the proportion of these men increases.

David Buss elaborated on Geary’s point in an email, stressing the lower proportion of men than women getting college degrees:

Women have strong mate preferences such that they do not want to mate or marry men who are less educated, less intelligent, and less successful than they are.

And this, Buss said, “creates a surplus of men” at the low end who are not going to get married.

Millions of these less well educated men are not going to get the benefits of marriage:

Married men live longer, are less likely to become alcoholic, take drugs, commit suicide, etc.

What's Trump going to do to fix you?

Saying “Honestly” as often as Trump, says he is a liar. For example of him lying: under Trumpcare in 2018, average premiums for single policyholders would be 15 percent to 20 percent higher than under current law. Need another example of Trump lying? 14 million more people would be uninsured under Trumpcare in 2018.

As many as a half-million Texans could become uninsured under Trump's plan to replace the Affordable Care Act, wiping out at least half the gains the state has made in reducing the number of uninsured residents in recent years.

Texas still has the nation's highest percentage of people without health insurance, but that uninsured rate has dropped significantly, falling to about 19 percent from 26 percent over the past four years.

You know the point I was making, but if it will help you to understand I'll tweak what I said. Anyone here defending Trump, is defending the indefensible.

The luxury I have, is that daily Trump makes history as being the worst of the worst presidents. Those here defending him and his policies, supporting his lies as truths, are going to be labeled as morons as well. Morons who thought fake was real and real was fake.

When he is not lying like a crazy man, Trump sometimes tells too much truth because he is nutty. “You have the right to remain silent,” as every ‘Law and Order’ fan knows by heart. “Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law.”

And boy was it used against Trump. Maybe Trump should watch more TV then he would know this?

Judge Derrick K. Watson, of the Federal District Court in Honolulu, blocked the core of Trump’s second attempt at a travel ban on Wednesday evening. The opinion relies heavily on quotes, comments and claims by Trump to deduce an unconstitutional religious animus in Trump's executive order.

You have to wonder what Trump was thinking. Does he believe that judges simply live in a vacuum? Or maybe Trump imagines himself beyond the reach of the judiciary? Or maybe Trump is nuts?

That must be you, since you're a moron.

Let's see ... "worst President ever"

Was that the one who allowed a major terrorist action on USA soil (possibly on purpose) and then used that terrorist action to launch not one, but TWO gratuitous wars in the Mideast, letting loose a jihadist plague?

Or was that the one who knocked the regulatory props out from the financial system, and traded away our manufacturing base to China and Mexico?

Or was that the one who instituted universal surveillance of the American people and lied about it, instituted jury-free executions of American citizens and lied about THAT, and destroyed two MORE Middle East nations, letting loose a second jihadist plague?

Maybe the two Presidents before the Civil War who were unable to prevent it? Or the three Presidents before the Great Depression because they were unable to prevent THAT?

THUGR, I think that your knowledge of history and your scale of comparison lacks something. Perspective, possibly.

Signym, your knowledge of recent history lacks something. The USA is just a terrorism attack away from Trump gaining a pretext for his International war and a local crackdown. Terrorism becomes a glorious opportunity rather than a misfortune for Trump. I show you how that works with an example:

Although Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld told Bush on the evening of September 11, “Part of our response maybe should be attacking Iraq. It’s an opportunity.” Does Signym remember recent history about how Iraq turned out and how incompetently Bush acted when given intelligence briefings about bin Laden? Trump can really outshine Bush in the incompetence department.

What was Obama's excuse?

SECOND the United States has been "just a terrorism attack away from" total control for DECADES. When 9-11 happened, I had been expecting something like that for at least five years already. Nothing has changed.

What has to happen is that the deep state needs to be destroyed.

That's the whole problem here, isn't it Sigs?

I agree with what Second is saying. But she is incapable of realizing that it is a bi-partisan effort that has been going on for a long time, and then posts stuff so polarizing that you feel like you're being attacked and then you end up wanting to argue back and then the real problem isn't even what you're talking about anymore.

Take the word Trump out of that sentence and replace it with GWB or Obama or Clinton and it's just as true.

Stop being a douche Second. You bring up good points most of the time but then you fuck them all up with your partisan BS.

Trump's "cheese" fell off his cracker years ago; but he's crazy like a Fox.
Besides, he listens to Bannon (The modern-day Rasputin).

It is all smoke and mirrors folks. He's looking to distract and deflect attention away from the obvious soviet connection with Putin and his Russian cronies. Pure and simple.
