What really happened: . . .

Curiously, the text of CNN's article conflicts with their headline. He signed the orders in the adjoining room where no one was pelting him with questions about Flynn and Russia.

Text of the president's comments to the press: . . .

And that was the presses take away? Nothing about manufacturing jobs. Nope. President move to adjoining room.

You've got a very optimistic view of Trump's nature -- what is going on inside his head when he is alone in the White House with his calligraphy pen and his legal pad of paper for writing executive orders.

Comparing Trump’s impromptu remarks with the actual orders he signed, three questions are answered:

1) Did he write the orders? No.

2) Does he understand the orders? No.

3) Is Trump nuts? That is a judgment call.

But Trump also signed a third executive order on March 31, 2017:
"Providing an Order of Succession Within the Department of Justice." Trump knows what is coming in his future. He will be firing his Attorney General, as did Nixon. With this third executive order, Trump has automated who is next in line. I see that Texas and North Carolina can take over when Trump does his own Saturday Night Massacre when faced with his own legal problems.

Second, Keep telling yourself that. Trump is a moron who stumbled into billions of dollars, and the presidency even though all the media and politicians opposed him, because we're a Russian puppet. Trump's not a savvy businessman whose message resonated with the American people, so they voted for him, and now he doing what they asked him to do. Because that's what it looks like from here. That said, I didn't say anything about what is inside his head. I reposted CNN's actual story, which conflicts with their "Grampa" headline that the thought-free zone was going off on.

Promotion from within is a standard business practice, and this one comes from Trump saying on the campaign trail that he would drain the swamp by promoting from within. Again, it's what the people voted for. Which is my point. It's not what I voted for, I voted for Bernie. A politician got elected and now is doing what he said he was going to do. There's no cartoon monkey punching bag, no russian conspiracy, nothing out of the ordinary here. Just a guy doing the job he was hired to do. That's not being naive, that's what's right in front of us when we let the clintonista fantasy version of events fall apart.

Thanks for posting the orders. I see he said specifically the US hasn't benefited from the WTO. Any liberal should be happy with that admission.

I'm not saying "support trump" but that these are issues one at a time, and sometimes he's right.
And sometimes I disagree but his voters agree. And that's politics.

Trump is not stupid; he is a liar and a crook. Did you forget Trump paying $25,000,000 for Trump U? That was a flat out admission he was guilty even if he says it is not an admission of anything other than he is a very busy man. Did you forget Trump’s promise to release all pages of his income tax returns? He released two pages from one year. You would conclude he is a liar if you could forget you’re his partisan.

The polls I saw showed Hillary losing to any generic Republican (other than Trump) by 14 points. She only had a chance because Trump is a liar and a crook.

Neither Trump nor Hillary got 50% of the vote in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Florida. But Trump got 100% of the electoral votes, 54 votes, giving him the win. Funny how Trump did not need a majority to win, isn’t it? Is something weird going on in the law of those states? Yes, somebody gets 100% of the electoral vote even if nobody gets anywhere near a majority. If there were three major Presidential candidates, Trump could win with as little as 33.34% of the popular vote, that is how weird the law is. With four major candidates, Trump could win 100% of the electoral votes with as little as 25.01% of the popular vote. That is how first past the post voting works.

If 12,000 bitter Bernie Saunders voters in Michigan, out of the millions who voted for Democrats in Michigan, had voted in the general election for Hillary rather than tell her to fuck off, Trump would have lost Michigan. The same way Trump would have lost Pennsylvania, Florida and the Presidential race. Those Bernie voters really showed Hillary they preferred anybody but Hillary if they couldn’t have Bernie. They were thinking Hillary was going to win anyway. Apparently, Bernie voters are not any better at understanding polls or election law details than Trump voters are.

Change the Electoral College than Second. It wasn't rigged. It's been that way for a long time now.

How many millions of California Republicans are pissed off their vote doesn't count every 4 years? New York, Illionois, etc., etc.

I do believe that there should be some debate about this.

I don't believe in a straight up Popular Vote, but a lot has changed since those laws were written and I don't feel that they're serving us properly any longer.

Still a democrat here. Voted for Bernie, not for Trump.

And that's not a virtue whatever, it's actually true, and you should understand that is reality: The Clinton corner has managed to alienate people who are really not all that far from them. Twice as many Bernie voters voted for Trump as for Hillary, not because he's more similar, but because he was willing to pick up Sanders' platform points and she wasn't.

In the general election, I voted for Stein.

All true, but she was more of a liar and a crook

No, it's not, it's common. Remember Bill Clinton? He got 39% of the popular, and a minority in several states.

In order to gain any credibility on these issues, you have to be willing to condemn democrats who do the same thing.

So, turnout was lousy. If we are going to better turnout, we need better candidates.

Hillary's real October surprise was "I created ISIS" and a million people died.
That'd cause Jesus of Nazareth to lose an election. It'll certainly do it for a sketchy career criminal who probably killed her boss in the '90s.

which is how Bill Clinton was elected. Also Woodrow Wilson. Actually, Obama was only the third democrat in history to win a majority of the vote.

Which is what you're missing. This isn't sour grapes. We're not bitter. We actually prefer Trump (to Hillary, that is) Get a better candidate. At the very least we don't care.

Quote:

Those Bernie voters really showed Hillary they preferred anybody but Hillary if they couldn’t have Bernie. They were thinking Hillary was going to win anyway. Apparently, Bernie voters are not any better at understanding polls or election law details than Trump voters are.

Okay, fair enough, I thought she was going to win anyway, and she did, in New York, for all might vote counted. That, said, who did call this one correctly? But that's not the point. The point is I really actually did not want Hillary. I thought it was a ridiculous match up, but that's what happens in a democracy. Sometimes you lose. The GOP voters could have been sane and chosen someone like Marco Rubio, or Cruz, or Kaisch. But they didn't. And the Democrats could have voted for a sane candidate, like Sanders, or O'Malley, or Chafee. But they didn't.

So that brought us to here. I don't feel bad about not voting for Hillary. I feel fine about it. She was fixing to be worse than Obama. She has a long history of being worse than Obama.

Anyway, it's done now, and we have to deal with what we have.
So far, I haven't been horrified by Trump. I have issues with him, yes.
But what I'm horrified by is the behavior of the democrats.
It's some sort of obsessive powermongering.
They've clearly forgotten all about the values that they used to hold.
They've forgotten about world peace and American jobs and equality.
They only seem to care about power at any cost.
Including overturning a democratic election and installing a CIA coup.

Oh, and Russia. WTF? Trump sounded dumb talking about Mexico as the enemy, and now everyone's forgotten that, and they just remember the democrats sounding dumb talking about Russia as the enemy.

You're losing your base, and you're not losing it last November, you're losing it right now. And all over the internet. SJWs are going to war with Bernie voters blaming them for Hillary's loss. Politicians are in Washington, blaming Russia for Hillary's loss. Hillary has been blaming everyone for everything that goes wrong for her since her appearance on the scene in 1974.

I did.

Actually, I've got a post in the prediction thread years ago that a white republican male would win the next election. No way in hell did I think that it would be The Donald back then though.

I recently found out in a podcast that before the election you stood to win $375 for every $100 that you bet in Vegas on a Trump victory, and only $20 for every $100 you bet for a Clinton victory.

I'm not a gambler, so I wouldn't have done it if I knew about it back then, but I'd love to hear the stories of people who made a bundle off of that one.

Did you know there was a way for Hillary to sabotage Trump, but she must get back to work convincing 232 Democratic Electors to vote for a Republican?

The beauty of the plan is that it will piss off the Republicans so badly they will pass a Constitutional Amendment abolishing the Electoral College.

It’s a win-win-lose: the Democratic party will never again be screwed by the Electoral College, the GOP controls the Presidency, and Trump loses, after all.

Democrats can stop Trump via the electoral college. But not how you think.
By Michael F. Cannon

www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/democrats-can-use-the-electoral-colleg
e-to-stop-trump-but-not-how-you-think/2016/12/05/c69bb24e-ba86-11e6-94ac-3d324840106c_story.html

Hillary Clinton’s decision to join Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s recount efforts in key states may have been welcome news to Democrats, but it is unlikely to change the outcome of the presidential election. Nor will complaining about the unfairness of the electoral college or begging Republican electors to vote for Clinton. Democrats’ best chance to prevent Donald Trump from assuming the presidency is instead to do the unthinkable: Throw their support behind another Republican, such as Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor and 2012 GOP presidential nominee.

To become president, a candidate must get a bare majority of 270 votes when the electoral college meets Dec. 19.

As Alexander Hamilton explained, the electoral college provides a backstop in the event voters select a dangerously unfit candidate. “The process of election,” Hamilton wrote, “affords a moral certainty that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.” Electors would use their judgment to prevent the “tumult and disorder” that would result from “this mischief” of presidential candidates exploiting “talents for low intrigue, and the little arts of popularity.” One might call it the cooler-heads college.

Election Day produced 306 electors pledged to Trump and 232 pledged to Clinton. A petition at Change.org asks Republican electors to vote for Clinton. A group calling itself “Hamilton Electors” seeks to persuade at least 37 GOP electors to vote for a Republican other than Trump, leaving him with only 269 votes. If no candidate secures 270 votes, the House of Representatives selects the next president from the top three vote-getters in the electoral college.

Either strategy is a fool’s errand. Whatever reservations Republican electors may have about Trump, empty entreaties from Democrats are unlikely to sway them. Even if 37 Republican electors voted for another Republican, the GOP-controlled House would likely select Trump anyway.

The only way Democrats stand any chance of persuading Republican electors to abandon Trump is with a dramatic gesture of true bipartisanship. If all 232 Democratic electors pledge to reach across the aisle and vote for a Republican alternative to Trump, it would take just 38 GOP electors to make that person the next president.

If Clinton announced she is releasing “her” electors and asked them to vote for a credible Republican alternative, she could plausibly deliver all 232 Democratic electors. She might even secure similar pledges from House Democrats in the event the election went to the House.

Finding 38 Republican electors might then be easier than Democrats think. In 2012, Romney won a larger share of the popular vote (47.2 percent) than Mr. Trump did this year (46.2 percent). There are 35 Republican electors from states where Romney got more votes than Trump (Alaska, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Utah, Wisconsin), and at least 120 others from states where Romney won a larger share of the vote. That’s more than half of Republican electors. Texas has 38 electors all by itself.

Naturally, most rank-and-file Democrats would consider the idea of backing a Republican for president abhorrent. Even so, the electoral college presents a most interesting test for Clinton and her party.

If Democrats believe Trump poses a unique threat to the republic, and signal this is not okay by reaching across the aisle to marginalize and stop him, then win or lose, Democrats could legitimately claim they put partisanship aside for the good of the country.

If Democrats believe Trump poses a unique threat yet don’t support another Republican in the electoral college, it will indicate that Democrats see Trump as no different from any other Republican. And if Democrats treat Trump as normal, they will be complicit in normalizing his behaviors.

The only people who will be responsible for a Trump presidency are those who voted for him — plus Clinton and her campaign, who helped to raise Trump’s profile during the primaries. But if Democrats truly believe what they say about Trump, they should prefer another Republican who does not threaten to normalize what a Trump presidency would.

Donald Trump’s strange relationship with Jared Kushner
By Paul Woodward, April 3, 2017
http://warincontext.org/2017/04/03/donald-trumps-strange-relationship-
with-jared-kushner
/

Hardly a day goes by without Jared Kushner being anointed with a new role in the Trump administration. Is Kushner, Trump’s Kissinger? A man of such genius that he inspires in this president so much confidence that whenever Trump asks himself, “who’s the most gifted individual in whose hands I can place this awesome challenge?” the answer is always Kushner?

A couple of tweets showing how Trump is using his son-in-law:

DavidKenner @DavidKenner

Jared Kushner's remit now includes: Relations with Iraq, China, Mexico, and Canada; negotiating Middle East peace, reforming veterans' care, combating opioid abuse; and overhauling the federal bureaucracy.
5:01 AM-3 Apr 2017

Peter Alexander @PeterAlexander

BREAKING: Jared Kushner is in Iraq right now, traveling with Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dunford, senior White House official tells me.
8:39 PM-2 Apr 2017

My hunch — nothing more than that — is that the reason Kushner keeps on getting new roles has nothing to do with his abilities and everything to do with Trump’s relationship with his own daughter Ivanka.

In spite of Trump’s repeated indications of being sexually attracted to Ivanka, the man who has lived his whole life with the expectation that he can grab whatever he wants was, in this instance, forced to rein in his own desires. (I am willing to assume he has successfully done that primarily because I see no indications that Ivanka feels the need to maintain a safe distance from her father.)

At the same time, given Trump’s grandiosity, it’s hard to believe that he truly believes that Kushner or any other man would really be good enough for his daughter.

So perhaps the reason Trump keeps on giving Kushner new roles is because he wants Kushner to fail.

Does Kushner look like a man brimming with such immeasurable confidence that he can conquer anything?

Not really.

More like a timid young man who’s afraid of saying “no” to his tyrannical father-in-law.

Trump Doesn’t Have the Balls

The president declines to throw out baseball’s ceremonial first pitch on Monday and face a barrage of boos.

http://prospect.org/article/trump-doesn%E2%80%99t-have-balls

Trump declined an invitation to throw out the ceremonial first ball at the Washington Nationals’ opening day game Monday.

Politico reported that Trump was “in talks” with the team to toss the first ball, but hours later the White House claimed that Trump had a “scheduling conflict,” without providing any information about why he’s skipping this ritual.

A more likely explanation is that Trump feared that he’d be greeted with a deafening chorus of boos as soon as he stepped into Washington D.C. Nationals Park. The ballpark is 3.4 miles by road from the White House. Or Trump could take a helicopter. https://goo.gl/maps/EzMCyXKGPws

Last November, 91 percent of Washington, D.C., voters supported Hillary Clinton over Trump. Voters in the suburban counties outside Washington, D.C., also gave Clinton landslide margins—76 percent in Montgomery County and 89 percent in Prince George’s County in Maryland, and 76 percent in Arlington County and 63 percent in Fairfax County in Virginia.

In the past few days we've been subjected to: Hillary gave away our uranium to the Russians; Ford is investing in American factories; the New York Times apologized after the election; Trump is treated unfairly by the media; the New York Times is failing; the House Freedom Caucus is bad; China is stealing our jobs; the whole Russia thing is a witch hunt; the Russia thing is fake; the Russia thing is a scam; Obamacare is a disaster; the real story is all the illegal leaks; Fox News reports that Trump was spied on during the transition; John Podesta's brother is a crook; and Hillary got the answers to debate questions. Yes, received the "answers" to debate questions, as if they're multiple choice tests that have right and wrong responses.

Trump has only been in office a few months and he's already living in the past. This is a bad sign, folks, for his mental health.

Half of those things the MSM talks about every day.

90% of the rest of it are things that are still relevant even if they don't get coverage.

The only questionable tweet would be the one about Hillary getting the debate questions, but given the unprecedented treatment he has received from the MSM since his election, he's probably just reminding people that the other candidate and the MSM were in collusion.

That's not a bad idea.

The MSM did the opposite of what you think they did.

By March 2016, Trump received $2 Billion Worth of Free Media. Hillary received $746 million.
www.nytimes.com/2016/03/16/upshot/measuring-donald-trumps-mammoth-adva
ntage-in-free-media.html

By election day, Trump had received $5 Billion In Free Advertising.
www.ibtimes.com/did-media-help-donald-trump-win-5-billion-free-adverti
sing-given-president-elect-2444115

Was it $5 Billion in attacks upon Trump? NO! It helped Trump. There seem to be an awful lot of people who heard only one thing from Trump during the campaign: He was going to build a wall and keep out all the Mexicans.

After the election, AFTER BECAUSE IT WAS IMPORTANT and the MSM had to stop kicking Hillary in the teeth since she was officially a nobody, people started hearing the rest of Trump’s story, not all of which was to his advantage.

During the election, the MSM covered about equally the scandals of Trump and Hillary. Once Hillary was officially a nobody, a zero, all the coverage moved to Trump. Hillary gets no airtime, while Trump, being President, gets all of Hillary's, everything he got as a candidate, and what President Obama would have got on typical day with no drama.

Do you remember Hillary's scandal? Yes, you do. Do you remember Trump's scandals? There were too many. Nothing in particular comes to mind unless you concentrate on one or two and drill into the details.

But now that there is no more Hillary, it is all Trump, all the time. Just remove "Clinton emails" from the following list and that is where we are today, except with more new Trump scandals along with old, old scandals. For Trump, new scandals are like water sliding off the back of a duck. Trump never gets wet :

Clinton emails. Trump admitting sexual assault. Clinton emails. Trump charity fraud. Clinton emails. Trump calls for nuclear proliferation. Clinton emails. Trump calls for national stop and frisk. Clinton emails. Trump violates trade embargo with Cuba. Clinton emails. Trump sued over Trump U fraud. Clinton emails. Trump bribes Florida DA. Clinton emails. Trump doesn't pay taxes for 20 years. I see why Trump can get away with what he is doing: Loyalty to Trump.
www.nytimes.com/2017/04/01/opinion/sunday/in-trump-country-shock-at-tr
ump-budget-cuts-but-still-loyalty.html

Moreno was sitting at a table with his boss, Rocky Payton, the factory’s general manager, and Amy Saum, the human resources manager. All said they had voted for Trump, and all were bewildered that he wanted to cut funds that channel people into good manufacturing jobs.

“There’s a lot of wasteful spending, so cut other places,” Moreno said.

Payton suggested that if the government wants to cut budgets, it should target “Obama phones” provided to low-income Americans. (In fact, the program predates President Barack Obama and is financed by telecom companies rather than by taxpayers.)

Yet Democrats gleeful at the prospect of winning penitent voters back should take a deep breath. These voters may be irritated, but I was struck by how loyal they remain to Trump.

I talked to many Trump voters about the impact if Trump’s budget cuts go through, and none regretted their votes in November. They all said that they might vote for Trump for re-election.

“I don’t think I re-evaluate Trump,” Moreno said, adding that he just wants the president to re-evaluate his budget proposal.

Judy Banks, a 70-year-old struggling to get by, said she voted for Trump because “he was talking about getting rid of those illegals.” But Banks now finds herself shocked that he also has his sights on funds for the Labor Department’s Senior Community Service Employment Program, which is her lifeline. It pays senior citizens a minimum wage to hold public service jobs.

“This program makes sense,” said Banks, who was placed by the program into a job as a receptionist for a senior nutrition program. Banks said she depends on the job to make ends meet, and for an excuse to get out of the house.

“If I lose this job,” she said, “I’ll sit home and die.”

Yet she said she might still vote for Trump in 2020. And that’s a refrain I heard over and over. One recent survey found that only 3 percent of Trump voters would vote differently if the election were today.

One More Example of Extreme Loyalty to Trump: Elizabeth Hays, 27, said her life changed during her freshman year in high school, when four upperclassmen raped her. Domestic Violence Intervention Services rescued her, she said, by helping her understand that the rape wasn’t her fault.

She’s profoundly grateful to the organization — yet she stands by Trump even as she is dismayed that he wants to slash support for a group that helped her when she needed it most. “We have to look at what we spend money on,” she said, adding, “I will stand behind my president.”

First of all SIG. Deep state is a term that represents those who are anti-democratic. That's you and yours. Twisting it into something else that serves those who wish to further that cause, won't fly when dealing with intelligent people. Second, G, KPO, SSG and myself to name a few. You who spread this crap on these threads, are the guilty pointing fingers at the innocent.

---------------------

SIG says I'm a deep state troll. oh my.

Deep state

The deep state is alleged to be a group of influential anti-democratic coalitions within the Turkish political system, composed of high-level elements within the intelligence services, Turkish military, security, judiciary, and mafia. The notion of deep state is similar to that of a "state within the state". For those who believe in its existence, the political agenda of the deep state involves an allegiance to nationalism, corporatism, and state interests. Violence and other means of pressure have historically been employed in a largely covert manner to manipulate political and economic elites and ensure specific interests are met within the seemingly democratic framework of the political landscape. Former president Süleyman Demirel says that the outlook and behavior of the elites who constitute the deep state, and work to uphold national interests, are shaped by an entrenched belief, dating to the fall of the Ottoman Empire, that the country is always "on the brink". The ideology of the deep state is seen by leftists as being anti-worker or ultra-nationalist; by Islamists as being anti-Islamic and secularist; by ethnic Kurds as being anti-Kurdish, and by liberal democrats as anti-democratic and anti-liberal. As pointed out by former prime minister Bulent Ecevit, the diversity of opinion reflects a disagreement over what constitutes the deep state. One explanation is that the "deep state" is not an alliance, but the sum of several groups that antagonistically work behind the scenes, each in pursuit of its own agenda. Rumors of the deep state have been widespread in Turkey since Ecevit's term as prime minister in the 1970s, after his revelation of the existence of a Turkish branch of Operation Gladio, the "Counter-Guerrilla".

Option #2:

Just switch out "Clinton is boring" for "Clinton emails" from the list and that is how Trump won the election. For Trump, scandals were like life giving oxygen.

The US public of a voting age, having gorged on an average of 5 hours a day of TV, cannot handle someone who does not entertain them above all else.

Interesting theory, but there is an easier explanation: “I don’t think I will re-evaluate Trump.”
www.nytimes.com/2017/04/01/opinion/sunday/in-trump-country-shock-at-tr
ump-budget-cuts-but-still-loyalty.html

The reporter went to Oklahoma and found that Trump voters are not changing their minds about Trump, despite what Trump did to them in his budget. The Oklahomans actually had their minds made up long ago, before Trump got in the race. They would vote for the Republican, whoever it was. There was nothing to evaluate about Trump before the election. There will be nothing in the next 4 years about Trump to evaluate. They are already committed to vote Republican. The perfect example is President Hoover, who got 40% of the vote despite 4 years of complete inability to confront any problem. There has never been a clearer choice and yet 40% could not change their minds in 1932. While Hoover was the wrong man for the time, it won't be nearly as clear in 2020 that Trump is the wrong man. The Republican candidate, even if it is not Trump, will do much better than Hoover, despite any scandals Trump faces in the next 4 years.

I guess emails that say essentially "I killed a million sand n*ggers, Yeehah!" have some impact overall. Add a little "get the grimy jew bastards" and "everyone has to support the nazis or we kill them" "fuck democracy" "I'm going to steal this election" and "I stole a couple billion dollars from haiti" and yeah, I guess they matter.

Hillary had more than one scandal. The MSM did not give equal airtime to the "scandals", especially given the different nature of them.

There was far more time spent on Trump being a pussy grabber than there were on Clinton's borderline treasonous behavior, and the only "coverage" of it was the MSM constantly saying "move along folks... nothing to see here". Hillary got a ton of coverage, no doubt, but almost none of it was negative. They were all besties with Clinton.

If the MSM had been going after her like they are going after Trump now she wouldn't have had a chance in hell of winning and likely would have been locked up before the election even took place.

But that is in the past now. You're right. She's a nobody now. Without any major celebrity death or some Waco-style confrontation on our soil the entire MSM seems to spend all it's time now chasing Red shadows.

I see only two possibilities here.

1) Clintonistas are playing dumb, in which case, why should anyone pay attention to them?

2) Clintonistas really are dumb, in which case, why should anyone pay attention to them?

It's a lose-lose, guys.

And where do we start, skipping her fiasco with getting kicked off the watergate team, do we start with her "little confederacy" and the drug running, killing two teenagers in Arkansas, her preferential treatment of her own company Walmart, contacts to shell companies she set up for Bill, or do we start in DC, with killing Vince Foster (if you're not a moron it's obvious, but if you want to pretend that didn't happen jump right to: and illegally destroying all his files to cover up for white water) how about Whitewater itself? WACO? Attack on the World Trade Center, 1993, Oklahoma City, Rwanda? It's only 1994 guys. She hired Monica Lewisnky because as she told a colleague: it would be embarrassing if Bill was caught "whoring around town" like he did in Arkansas, 100 prostitutes and 36 rape cases. That's unusual for a governor. How about her healthcare fiasco. Her secret healthcare commission was filled with lobbyists instead of lawmakers, and they tried to subvert the vote. And it's still only 1994. This is going to take me all day, so I'm going to let it go, knowing that you all know it gets much much worse as time goes on, even long before it gets to her running chemical weapons to ISIS.

As for why not go after her? The same logic as applies to Robespierre erecting a guillotine in Concorde Square was a bad idea: His own head rolled on it.

Anyone care to continue this?

They're not bad for an MSM news outfit, the anchors are smart, both witty and educated, (and they're all fairly good looking) The narrative is often framed, but the reporting is fairly honest, if you skip the opinion section of their news.

I like, btw, that they do that. Most TV stations mix their opinion so thick into their content that the two become inseparable. Maddow, for instance, could be improved ten fold if she just said "here is objectively what happened, and now here is what I think about it" and also to go the full FOX, prop up some conservative counterpart to Dennis Kucinich (FOX's pet liberal) someone like Ron Paul (he'd really make a good counterpoint, they've worked together on a number of issues, and serious conservatives might call him a RINO, Maddow did try to politically assassinate his son, so maybe not) anyway to come on the Maddow show, and let pet conservative and liberal commentators go at it.

To simplify things into their broadest terms, in recent elections the Republican always gets around 60 million votes; the question is whether the Democrat can bring out more voters or not. If they can, as Obama did twice, they win. If they can’t, as Clinton and John Kerry failed to, they lose.

And the Trump campaign itself had an explicit strategy to demoralize Democrats, developed by Trump campaign CEO Stephen Bannon. As Bloomberg Businessweek reported:

Instead of expanding the electorate, Bannon and his team are trying to shrink it. ‘We have three major voter suppression operations under way,’ says a senior official. They’re aimed at three groups Clinton needs to win overwhelmingly: idealistic white liberals, young women, and African Americans.

How much credit they can take is open to debate, but there’s no doubt that they got the result they were after.

Second,

The chart is convincing. I doubt Trump is responsible, because democrats don't even listen to moderate democrats, let alone republicans. Look at this forum. If I couldn't influence your vote, I sincerely doubt JSF and Auraptor are going to swing it.

Some democrats of course did vote for Trump. Sig and 1kiki for starters. But that's the only way I think Trump influenced democrat turnout. Largely what you're seeing is anti-Hillary sentiment. And that's because she's an evil hateful person.

I'm coming to think she's an exec in an evil hateful international stealth corporation.

Here's a thought: Why does WaPo post anti-Trump stories? Doesn't this seem like an extreme manipulation? Skipping the detail that Bezos was a republican, there's a much more disturbing angle. If he has trouble with the Trump administration all he has to do is walk next door and knock and say "hey, could you deal Amazon.com a break on this Mexico thing" or whatever. Why does he care what we think?

There's some deep level game going on here, and I suspect everyone is being had.

Edit: A second glance at the chart gives me a second thought, Second:

Those > 60 million votes are only for Obama. Maybe these are not democrats. They could be a probama vote. They're probably independents. They might be black people, or latinos, who are registered independents, who were swept up by the si se puedo hope and change message, and 1/2 of them were disaffected by midterm.

I see it as much simpler. There are 60 million people that will reliably vote for the Republican, whoever he is, for the rest of their lives. It is what they have done; it's what they will do. These people will vote Republican even if they disapprove of the Republican's policies and personally dislike his character.

The people who vote for the Democratic candidate are almost as robotically opinionated as Republicans, but the Democratic voters are more prone than Republicans to being apathetic about actually voting. You know, Democrats aren't so good at doing something more than running their mouths. That is why the number of Democratic voters wildly fluctuates while the number of Republican voters (not just people who "identify" as Republican) is steady as a rock. I have never known any Republican voter in Texas that was as indifferent about voting as Texas Democrats are.

In a country like the USA where even if the people are not real robots they sure do a very good imitation of being robots, a Jeff Bezos, who you mentioned and who has most definitely never acted like a robot, can take over. Bezos owns Amazon.com and the Washington Post. Neither has Trump ever acted like a robot and he took over his part of the USA. That small percent of Americans who never act like robots sure do kick ass and give orders to the other 99% who try to blend in with the wandering robot hordes that come in several varieties, including Democrats and Republicans.

I just finished reading this
https://aeon.co/ideas/panpsychism-is-crazy-but-its-also-most-probably-
true
that makes me think human minds might not be as complex on the inside than they appear to be from outside observation. The minds might have the exact same "consciousness" as a charged particle: some are negatively charged electrons, some positively charged protons, some Democratic, some Republican, forever unchangeable except by a calamity inside an atom smasher.

The title of this thread is " Is Trump Nuts? " Not is Hillary or anyone else. So far Trump has shown he is in completely over his head. And, he is using many unqualified people as his advisors. What does his daughter know about world politics or running a country. What does his son in law understand about running a country and producing foreign policy.

In a word, nothing. Trump is cutting funding to agencies full of professionals that are in place to do what he is picking his family and racists to do. These agencies now work for him. They are there to advise him on how government works and what makes the global community tick.

What has he accomplished so far...Alienating our allies and consistently undermining our democratic institutions.

And then, there are the independents, who make up a larger percentage of the voting population than Democrats, and who split for Trump.

Dividing the voting public into Repub-Dem voters is a mistake.

The simple fact of the matter was that enough people - including Democrats and unaffiliated voters - were so turned off by another "establishment" candidate that it was enough to make what should have been an entirely unpalatable candidate- Trump - entirely possible. And, yanno, people didn't just turn out reluctantly for Trump, they turned out enthusiastically. So the DNC needs to figure out what part of Trump's message people were responding to, and capture that lightning.

Stop "blaming" anyone and everyone for Hillary's loss.

There's a difference between being "nuts" and being "unqualified".

As far as "undermining our democratic institutions" ... I fail to see which ones Trump is undermining. If anything, its the Dems who were so gobsmacked by the results that they wanted to overturn everything, and the unelected deep state which just wants to stay in charge as per usual.

President Donald Trump has removed Steve Bannon, his chief strategist, from the National Security Council, according to a filing in the federal registry. A top White House official told NBC News that Bannon was put on the NSC's Principals' Committee only as a check against then-National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Now that Flynn is gone, Bannon is no longer needed in that role, the official said.

O...kay. So Trump appointed Flynn as National Security Advisor, a guy so volatile and incompetent that he needed Bannon as the Flynn wrangler and baby-minder. That sure doesn't seem like a very reassuring clarification. Is Trump nuts?

Maybe Trump is playing chess. It's possible that he put in a sacrificial appointee (Flynn) to accomplish a task, and either that appointee failed to complete, or did complete, but was no longer needed. Not a chess player myself, but I see what look like chess moves ... yanno, moving different pieces on the board.

One of the ways that Trump is very different from regular politicians is that he doesn't mind "hiring, firing, promoting, and demoting" people. Typical politicians put in a single appointee and usually stick with them for years. Obama ... he should have fired that backstabbing Hillary's ass a lot sooner!

Was Trump playing chess when he did the following?

Trump sent a first message very loudly and clearly to the President of Syria.

Just days ago, Trump announced that the U.S. no longer had any problem with the regime of Syrian president, and Russian ally, Bashar Assad.

Repeating Trump, Rex Tillerson declared that the “longer-term status of President Assad will be decided by the Syrian people” — as if the Syrian people will be having an Iowa-like primary on that subject soon.

Repeating Trump’s message, U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley made the same point, telling reporters that the United States’ “priority is no longer to sit there and focus on getting Assad out.”

Assad sent a return message to Trump.

Assad thinks he can now get away with murder using Sarin gas, since what Trump said could be interpreted that Assad could.

rossed-a-lot-of-lines-with-gas-attack

I do believe Trump will need to send a clear second message to Assad, an equally simply message like the first. The message will have to clearer than “Yesterday you crossed some red lines, Assad.” Trump declined to outline what his new approach to Syria may be.

In other words, Trump is nuts when dealing with armed governments. Trump is NOT a chess playing genius.

So far the man has been crushed by the job. Until Bannon actually leaves I won't have faith Trump is learning from his mistakes. And as for his promise of a no fly zone in Syria, another lie. I think the recent gassing of children may force him into taking some sort of action.

No reason to believe Trump will think of something sensible that will last long term. I believe he will do whatever feels best for Trump at this moment, not permanently solve a longstanding international problem. On 23 April 2016, the United Nations and Arab League Envoy to Syria put out an estimate of 400,000 that had died in the war. The death toll from yesterday's suspected chemical attack currently stands at 72, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and is expected to rise.

This has happened before in Syria. I don't think Trump ever gave chemical weapons in Syria any thought before today, since he is more an improviser than a historian:

Haunting images of lifeless children piled in heaps reflected the magnitude of the attack, which was reminiscent of a 2013 chemical assault that left hundreds dead and was the worst in the country’s six-year conflict.
