Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) captures Trump's essence in 20 words:

My Party Is in Denial About Donald Trump
We created him, and now we’re rationalizing him. When will it stop?

It was we conservatives who were largely silent when the most egregious and sustained attacks on Obama’s legitimacy were leveled by marginal figures who would later be embraced and legitimized by far too many of us. It was we conservatives who rightly and robustly asserted our constitutional prerogatives as a co-equal branch of government when a Democrat was in the White House but who, despite solemn vows to do the same in the event of a Trump presidency, have maintained an unnerving silence as instability has ensued.

Under our Constitution, there simply are not that many people who are in a position to do something about an executive branch in chaos. As the first branch of government (Article I), the Congress was designed expressly to assert itself at just such moments. . . . Too often, we observe the unfolding drama along with the rest of the country, passively, all but saying, “Someone should do something!” without seeming to realize that that someone is us.

Conduct that would have had conservatives up in arms had it been exhibited by our political opponents now had us dumbstruck.

We have taken our “institutions conducive to freedom,” as Goldwater put it, for granted as we have engaged in one of the more reckless periods of politics in our history. In 2017, we seem to have lost our appreciation for just how hard won and vulnerable those institutions are.

---------------------------------

Congress gets to set its own definition of high crimes and misdemeanors. At what point does destroying the country’s standing in the world and lying about everything to everyone not rise to the level of a misdemeanor?

What does Trump actually want to do as president? The answer is unclear.

Trump doesn’t seem to have defined goals or means to achieve them.

There are many, many frustrating elements to this administration. But perhaps the most basic is that it’s not easy to figure out what Donald Trump actually wants out of the presidency.

Most presidents have multiple goals for the office:

Accomplish the policy objectives of their party
Accomplish their own policy objectives
Win reelection, and perhaps elect a chosen successor
Some sense of “public service”
Lead the nation in times of crisis
Build their own power
Boost their egos

Only the last clearly matters to Trump. Otherwise, his behavior doesn’t seem to make sense in pursuit of any of these goals. The appointment of John Kelly as White House chief of staff indicates that Trump might be seeking to become more effective. But to what end?

It is as plain as can be. Trump gives voice to those who feel, and are for the most part, disenfranchised. He uses their anger as a tool to manipulate them.

His willingness to pass bills that would be incredibly destructive to his base, shows his message does not reflect his interests, which is pass anything, and he will spin it so he lives another day. He can't survive that way for too much longer.

This isn't a rhetorical question, either: How could a mature adult with all his faculties intact get tangled up in this Russia controversy? Because if he was paying attention he could have easily avoided all his troubles. That is why I keep bringing up evidence that Trump isn't a mature adult and doesn't have adult goals or an adult work ethic. Need I add his mouth lacks adult self-control?

Most people, even if they were abysmally ignorant, would learn some things over the course of two years of campaigning and being president. Even if, like Trump, they declined to read anything, they’d pick up stuff by osmosis. There’s a helluva lot of expert conversation that surrounds people like Trump, and you can hardly help but learn from it unless you’re actively trying to block it out.

Apparently that’s what Trump does. It’s not just that he’s galactically ignorant, it’s that he actively works to stay that way. What kind of person is so afraid of facts and knowledge that he actually spends emotional energy to prevent learning anything, even if that learning is essentially free?

Alternatively, Trump is no longer completely in control of his faculties and simply forgets stuff almost as soon as he hears it. The evidence points to it being some of both.

That sounds like a line from a spy novel. Interviewers can’t help but bring up the “nothing is what it seems” rumors swirling around the pathological liar Donald Trump.

We don't know what's going to happen with Donald Trump's train wreck of a presidency. But it might be instructive to have a look at... WHAT WE KNOW WILL NOT HAPPEN:

Aide to Trump: "Here's how you could abuse your executive powers to punish your enemies."
Trump: "How dare you! No matter how desperate my situation, I will uphold the norms and values of our shared American ideals!"

The Mueller report is out! And it is explosive and damning!
Trump: "I'll read it carefully and abide by its irrefutable conclusions."

You could pardon these conspirators. There's even a bad argument you could pardon yourself.
Trump: "Bite your tongue! Anyone who participated in Russian election interference must pay the criminal price!"

Your most loyal following remaining is the White Supremacy movement!
Trump: "Well, I won't mobilize them in any way! They're despicable, violent, well-armed, and they love me!"

Mr. President, you've been impeached.
Trump: "Then I must leave office peacefully, for an orderly succession of power is in the best interests of the U.S.A."

Whatever happened to Donald Trump?
America: "Who knows? He shuns the spotlight, and is probably off somewhere quietly doing good works."

Are you insinuating that Trump should not go to jail for cheating on his taxes? It has to be tax cheating or else he would have honored his many pledges to release his tax returns as soon as the IRS will let him. But that was all before the election.

Trump’s been talking about his business interests in Russia for 30 years.

He's enlisting “a leading law firm” to insist he has no connections to the country — something he could prove if he just released his tax returns.

More Evidence:

Trump's political career began in advocacy of birtherism, that modern recasting of the old American precept that black people are not fit to be citizens of the country they built. But long before birtherism, Trump had made his worldview clear. He fought to keep blacks out of his buildings, according to the U.S. government; called for the death penalty for the eventually exonerated Central Park Five; and railed against “lazy” black employees. “Black guys counting my money! I hate it,” Trump was once quoted as saying. “The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.” After his cabal of conspiracy theorists forced Barack Obama to present his birth certificate, Trump demanded the president’s college grades (offering $5 million in exchange for them), insisting that Obama was not intelligent enough to have gone to an Ivy League school, and that his acclaimed memoir, Dreams From My Father, had been ghostwritten by a white man, Bill Ayers.

Let's find some scapegoat someplace who did something we've done by the daily dozen, and maliciously persecute them....

That's it, that's the ticket, suuuure.

Yep, knew it would come down to this: "the Obama/Hilliary cronies at the IRS."

Looks like even more non-evidence was tried to get slipped into another thread.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

STILL no evidence?

Trump is not the problem. He set himself against the Deep State's agenda. And the Deep State's been heading for WWIII for years.
As for you, you're just a Deep State useful idiot, furthering its agenda. So I hope you enjoy cesium in your coffee. You've earned it.

There is plenty of evidence. If Congress wanted to impeach Trump for dodging the draft in 1968, it could. If it wanted to impeach because he lied about making his tax returns public, it could. It doesn’t need “evidence” to persuade you because it isn’t really a trial when most of the jury (the members of Congress) have already decided which way they would vote. I know what the Democrats would do. I know what the Republicans would do. The only unknown is the ratio of Democrats to Republicans in Congress when the question of impeachment finally comes to trial sometime after Mueller issues his report after the next election. For Mueller to issue before the election would be pointless, since any report would go immediately into the trashcan of a Republican controlled Congress, without even reading it.

Don't you mean still no Robert Mueller III report? The special counsel has no obligation to report his conclusions to the public. The special-counsel regulations do not give him the power to do so without the approval of Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein. We may never know what he uncovers.

When viewed in the context of Trump’s other actions, Comey’s firing may raise the question of obstruction of justice. But on its own, it’s no more illegal or unconstitutional for the president to fire the FBI director than it is for him to be unable to display the bare minimum of empathy for hurricane-devastated Puerto Rico. Toss paper towels to hurricane victims then leave town.

So you agree. There's STILL no evidence.

So why are you here still blathering about nothing? Yanno, things nobody has seen or heard or felt in the real world? When you start obsessing about your hallucinations, it's time for you to start taking your medicine, cupcake.
