Trump’s Charlottesville talking points came straight from Fox News.
A video compares what Trump said to what Fox News said.

Yup, it's the same old reichwing "both side do it" crap they've been spewing for years.

The REAL truth: "Nothing makes us more proud at the KKK than we see white patriots such as James Fields Jr, age 20, taking his car and running over nine communist anti-fascist, killing one [expletive]-lover named Heather Heyer. James Fields hail victory. It’s men like you that have made the great white race strong and will be strong again."

Bottom line: The Grand Dragon for the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan is openly celebrating the heinous muder of an innocent patriot, while promising more violence in the future.

Well, fair certain we should remove all of the monuments honoring slaveholders (Washington, Jefferson, Jackson, etc) and anybody who supported slavery or endorsed segregation (every single Democrat in history), and rename them all.
The only current monuments left would be Lincoln and every other Republican so honored.

I know you've got the reading skills of an inbred 3rd grader , but if I must explain everything to you then we'd be here all day.

There is zero proof that I ever support ' Nazis ' , and for you to suggest such bullshit shows just how much an idiot you are.

Go back to running with scissors. In traffic.

there is a street in Charlottesville that needs a few more idiotic Libtards obstructing traffic right about now.

And yet another Nazi voices their support of murder, terrorism and treason. Yay!

Darwin Award nominees are not victims of murder, terrorism, or treason - just victims of (lack of) common sense. Which also defines Libtards, with "idiotic" merely being redundant, yet needed to clarify for liberals.

What's with the "sides" thing?

Yes, some people in ALL political persuasions resort to violence. But dividing people into "sides" is just a form of dehumanization.

It's funny, the board didn't used to be this way. We had people of all political persuasions here: Far-out libertarians like SARGEX, and deep-state libertarians like GEEZER and anarcho-libertarians like FREM and we didn't fling "sides" at each other. There was a very long thread ... precipitated by the Rwandan massacre ... about "demonization" and how it is the first necessary step towards genocide. When you reduce "them" to something less than human, it makes "them" so much easier to target. A bad thing to do.

Plus, it's STUPID. In real life, people don't divide up into "sides". It only happens when they're provoked into it. Serbs and Croats, Ukies and Russkies, Shia and Sunni, Hutu and Tutsi ... they got along fine for hundreds of years, until some demagogue decided to stir things up. Nothing brings a baboon troop together like LEOPARD! LEOPARD! and creating enemies is a great way to bring people to "your" cause.

I guess the RUSSIA! boogeyman didn't work so well (Amazing how it died out, and how quickly you forgot it, huh???) so now the DNC is provoking a right wing-left wing polarization.

Why Was This 'Crowd Hire' Company Recruiting $25 An Hour 'Political Activists' In Charlotte Last Week?

Now, the discovery of a craigslist ad posted last Monday, almost a full week before the Charlottesville protests, is raising new questions over whether paid protesters were sourced by a Los Angeles based "public relations firm specializing in innovative events" to serve as agitators in counterprotests.

The ad was posted by a company called "Crowds on Demand" and offered $25 per hour to "actors and photographers" to participate in events in the "Charlotte, NC area." While the ad didn't explicitly define a role to be filled by its crowd of "actors and photographers" it did ask applicants to comment on whether they were "ok with participating in peaceful protests." Here is the text from the ad:

Actors and Photographers Wanted in Charlotte

Crowds on Demand, a Los Angeles-based Public Relations firm specializing in innovative events, is looking for enthusiastic actors and photographers in the Charlotte, NC area to participate in our events. Our events include everything from rallies to protests to corporate PR stunts to celebrity scenes. The biggest qualification is enthusiasm, a "can-do" spirit. Pay will vary by event but typically is $25+ per hour plus reimbursements for gas/parking/Uber/public transit.

For more information about us, please visit www.crowdsondemand.com

If you're interested in working with us, please reply to this posting with the following info ...

So what is "Crowds on Demand?" According to their own website, they're in the business of sourcing large crowds of people to "provide clients with protests, rallies, [and] flash-mobs" all over the country. They even have an entire page on their website dedicated to "Protests and Rallies."

https://crowdsondemand.com/political-services/

... The CEO of Crowds on Demand denied to Snopes that his firm was involved in the Charlottesville protests but refused to provide details on the specific purpose of the craigslist ad and/or why it was temporarily removed yesterday before being restored.

It would be beneficial if folks on here and on the Left would stop lying.

But then, benefiting peace and unity isn't at all what the Left wants.

This entire fiasco is orchestrated by the likes of Soros , and others, who simply want to destroy the country.

Putin included. I'd not be surprised if they're working in concert, and both sides of the fence. And useful idiots are playing right into their hands.

As for Charlottsville ? The Poles have the best response to both sides ...

They, the Confederacy, are a bunch of losers. The monuments mainly were erected some 40 years after the fact (end of the Civil War).

What people seem to forget is that they tried to secede from the Union, by military force over slavery. Our country, the United States, was founded upon freedom from tyranny and being treated like "slaves" by the monarchy.

What these idiots are doing is anti-American (promoting fascist principles and dictatorship). Comparing Washington to General Lee is so wrong and out of context. One fought to give birth to a new nation of free men; the other fought to enslave humans and break away from what Washington (and others) had created, that very new and free nation - the United States of America.
Flawed men, yes, but what they achieved exists today and is positive and good. What these Nazis are looking to destroy is the very thing that allows them to carry on like a bunch of dicks.

Besides their anger is misled. But that's another story. The White Dickheads are comparing apples to oranges (no pun intended). In the European continent slaves were often produced as the spoils of war. The Romans were infamous for that, so were the Greeks, Germans, etc. Even in Africa that existed. Mostly from warring tribes and the like. So we could go back thousands of years and claim that at some point slavery existed.
The Spanish brought black slaves to the West Indies once they killed off the natives living on the land at the time. Some through illness and some through the less than stellar treatment at the hands of the Conquistadores.
Do they have slavery today? Does this make it okay, if they did? Or if they once did?

It is a stupid argument brought on by stupid people. But I agree with what you say, the Founding Fathers did do something that to this day is a positive thing...they created a new way of thinking. Granted there have been some negative developments along the way. Over 200 broken treaties with the Native Americans. Which is another reason why I despise these bullies who claim that they want "their" country back. That is not so. The Europeans that came to this country way back when, are immigrants themselves. There is no other way to put it. The only true Americans, born in this country, who were the stewards of this land far before the first Pilgrims landed was the Native American. Period. End of story. Full Stop.

So, Mr. Drumpf, put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Originally posted by second:
Trump launched a defense of the Robert E. Lee statue that compared Lee and Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederate States, to Washington and Jefferson.

But there is something wrong with Trump's argument: We celebrate the good things the founders did. Confederates didn’t do anything good.

As part of Tuesday afternoon’s bizarre remarks on the white supremacist demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia, President Donald Trump suggested that removing monuments to Confederate military and political leaders could put the United States on a slippery slope.

“Was George Washington a slave owner?” he asked, rhetorically. “So will George Washington now lose his status ... are we going to take down statues to George Washington? How about Thomas Jefferson?”

Tucker Carlson sought to further muddy the waters on his Fox News show Tuesday night, by observing that figures such as Plato and Mohammed also owned slaves.

These arguments aren’t exactly offered in good faith. But even then, they reflect a profound misunderstanding of the nature of the Confederacy as a project — and of the difference between commemorating its leaders compared to America’s Founding Fathers.

Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and the other politicians and generals who served the Confederate States of America aren’t noteworthy historical figures who also happened to benefit from the institution of slavery. They are historical figures who are noteworthy almost exclusively because they led an insurrection against the United States of America, an insurrection whose primary purpose was to perpetuate slavery.

Owning human chattel — and offering intellectual and political defenses of the institution of American slavery — is an important and dishonorable part of Thomas Jefferson’s legacy. But it’s the entirety of Davis’s legacy.
We celebrate the good things about the founders

Historiographical arguments about the relative merits of the different Founding Fathers are a staple of American intellectual life, playing out in scholarly works and popular histories and even Broadway musicals. The reputations of individual founders wax and wane over time. Jefferson’s reputation is currently in something of a slump, thanks to revelations about Sally Hemings and “Cabinet Battle No. 1.”

Still, Jefferson’s contributions remain largely celebrated today. That’s in keeping with another staple of American life: The big-picture point of the pantheon of American founders is to celebrate the good things about them.

Jefferson is in the pantheon because he wrote the Declaration of Independence and because of his wartime diplomatic service. Alexander Hamilton is in the pantheon because he wrote the Federalist Papers and laid the foundations of the American political economy. Washington is in the pantheon because he was the military leader of the successful war of independence and because he established the peaceful transfer of power from president to president.

It’s true that the real historical figures at work were more complicated than the storybook heroes conventionally presented to young children. But the storybook hero version of Washington makes sense because Washington really did participate in great acts worth celebrating, even if he also did terrible things like own human beings as personal property or sleazy things like pick the location for the nation’s capital to maximize the value of his own landholdings.

Confederate leaders, by contrast, are being celebrated purely for doing something bad.

There are no good parts to the Confederacy.

I am very impressed, 1kiki, but not in your favor.

“When Donald and Ivana came to the casino, the bosses would order all the black people off the floor,” Kip Brown, a former employee at Trump’s Castle, told The New Yorker for a 2015 article. “It was the eighties, I was a teen-ager, but I remember it: they put us all in the back.”

Trump allegedly disparaged his black casino employees as “lazy” in vividly bigoted terms, according to a 1991 book by John O’Donnell, a former president of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino.

“And isn’t it funny. I’ve got black accountants at Trump Castle and Trump Plaza. Black guys counting my money! I hate it,” O’Donnell recalled Trump saying. “The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.”

“I think the guy is lazy,” Trump said of a black employee, according to O’Donnell. “And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.”

Trump told an interviewer in 1997 that “the stuff O’Donnell wrote about me is probably true,” but in 1999 accused O’Donnell of having fabricated the quotes.

When did AURaptor become such a thin-skinned little whiner complaining that liberals are meanies lying about his precious President?

You knew Trump was a racist before he was elected president of the United States of America. He was elected in spite of that (yet another reminder that “not all Trump supporters are racist, but all of them decided that racism isn’t a deal-breaker”).

Trump told Bryant Gumbel that “a well-educated black has a tremendous advantage over a well-educated white in terms of the job market”; demanded the death penalty for a group of black and Latino teenagers accused of raping a jogger in Central Park (and, despite their later exoneration with the use of DNA evidence, has continued to insist they are guilty); suggested a Native American tribe “don’t look like Indians to me”; mocked Chinese and Japanese trade negotiators by doing an impression of them in broken English; described undocumented Mexican immigrants as “rapists”; compared Syrian refugees to “snakes”; defended two supporters who assaulted a homeless Latino man as “very passionate” people “who love this country”; pledged to ban a quarter of humanity from entering the United States; proposed a database to track American Muslims that he himself refused to distinguish from the Nazi registration of German Jews; implied Jewish donors “want to control” politicians and are all sly negotiators; heaped praise on the “amazing reputation” of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who has blamed America’s problems on a “Jewish mafia”; referred to a black supporter at a campaign rally as “my African-American”; suggested the grieving Muslim mother of a slain U.S. army officer “maybe … wasn’t allowed” to speak in public about her son; accused an American-born Hispanic judge of being “a Mexican”; retweeted anti-Semitic and anti-black memes, white supremacists, and even a quote from Benito Mussolini; kept a book of Hitler’s collected speeches next to his bed; declined to condemn both David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan; and spent five years leading a “birther” movement that was bent on smearing and delegitimizing the first black president of the United States, who Trump also accused of being the founder of ISIS.

Second - bizarre as the birther stuff was, it originated from the Hillary campaign. And if it were true, there would be zero racism involved. It would be in fact a legitimate issue. Regardless of whether or not he was our first black president. What, do you believe that just because he is our first black president he is absolved. from any wrongdoing or potential scandal? Sorry, it doesn't work that way. You don't get to arbitrarily assign intent when someone questions whether or not Obama was born in the United States. What about John McCain? Or Ted Cruz? Born outside of the geographical United States, but were still naturalized citizens. Do you think questioning their citizenship would be racist as well?

Knowledge is a bitch

Politico, April 22, 2011: The answer lies in Democratic, not Republican politics, and in the bitter, exhausting spring of 2008. At the time, the Democratic presidential primary was slipping away from Hillary Clinton and some of her most passionate supporters grasped for something, anything that would deal a final reversal to Barack Obama.

Fact check.org and smopes try to spin the story as false, claiming that the Hillary campaign proper wasn't involved. Not officially at least two. Which is exactly how these things work. Get a "unaffiliated" group which does support a candidate, but doesn't officially get any marching orders from it to put out information, or participate in the actions which will hurt the opposition. Just like "ducks on the ground" which was another Hillary operation , intended to cause chaos at Trump rally's.

His interrogator was David Warner, who has played Human, Klingon, and Kardashian on Star Trek.

Just curious, would you ever have eaten that wormy egg thing that Picard did? Seems to me he wasn't there that long to be so desperately hungry.

There’s a lot that Congress could do to restrain the things about Trump that are odd and abnormal without Republicans needing to abandon any of their longstanding policy commitments.

Indeed, we even have a concrete example of the kind of thing that needs to be done from back in July, when overwhelming bipartisan majorities in Congress voted to tie Trump’s hands on Russia sanctions. This is how, in theory, the American system of checks and balances is supposed to work.

But mostly it hasn’t been working. Republicans could easily change that, without jeopardizing the policy priorities they share with the president.

They could restore funding that Trump’s Department of Homeland Security eliminated for de-radicalization programs aimed at white nationalists.

They could hold hearings on the potential threat of white nationalist groups to the country.

They could make their anti-Trump statements on Fox News and conservative talk radio outlets, delivering the message to the people who need to be persuaded that Trump is wrong rather than simply distancing themselves from him in the eyes of mainstream audiences.

They could also, of course, formalize and solemnify their disagreement with Trump though an official resolution of censure.

They would be greatly mitigating the threats posed by Trump’s alarming flirtations with neo-Nazis and sketchy Russia-related behavior, without in any way compromising conservative policy principles.

The civil war had very little to do with slavery. I'm sure for the rich elite that owned a ton of slaves on their plantation this was a big factor, but a large majority of people who lived in the south did not "own" slaves. A large majority of men who fought and died in the war did not "own" slaves.

Quote:

Our country, the United States, was founded upon freedom from tyranny and being treated like "slaves" by the monarchy.

LOL... yeah. The history books say that too. But reality shows that from day one we had slavery here in the states. My ancestors were Irish. The only rights they had above blacks essentially boiled down to having the choice of telling their employer no when they wanted to fuck their daughter, at the cost of being booted from their shack to go and find another Boss that hopefully wasn't feeling so rapey.

Every since slavery has ended in the US we have continually exploited 3rd world nations for labor for pennies a day. Just because nobody really reports on it doesn't mean that it's not still happening.

We're getting to that point, aren't we Rap?

People are just going to say, "yeah, whatever, I'm racist". What does that even mean when they use that word to describe somebody a few dozen times a day?

I never get called a Nazi in real life, but I hear it so much here that it's just becoming laughable. That's not right. There is nothing funny about Nazism.

Great Trek reference. I didn't watch a lot of TNG so I never saw that ep. My only additional thought on the matter would not to place blind trust in what the Right Wing media says either. I'm pretty sure they're trying to get you to say there's 5 lights too, just of a different color.

"Dehumanization is at the heart of every campaign of genocide and system of oppression. Dehumanization yields a justice system that criminalizes, over-polices and over-incarcerates entire groups, which is horrifying enough. When you continue the trend of describing people as not fully human, it becomes a lot easier to put them in gas chambers and internment camps; render them as chattel property; or kill off the native people of countries you've colonized."

You've forgotten the past. Hillary Clinton started the birther movement during her election bid against Obama. Trump just ran with it.

Obama did plenty to delegitimatize himself. Obama may not have personally founded ISIS, but foreign policy and the disruption of the Middle East that happened under his watch did.

Granted, this ball was rolling many decades ago, so not all blame should be cast at Obama. I would say that GWB shares an equal amount of it.

That being said... Obama was "Hope" and "Change" and he was going to put an end to all of that shit and it only got much, much worse while he presided.
