Donald Trump Has Known "Vladimir Putin Ordered Hacks" Since January 2017. Yet Trump has been calling the investigation into that a Witch Hunt.

Can you admit Trump has been colluding with the Russians to cover this up? No, than you're not very bright like Jack, or like sig and kiki you are Russian.

This is where you completely lose the argument, T.

You can't just call people who don't believe what you believe Russians.

It's not a legitimate argument, and all you do is put a wedge in the middle of people and cause people to push back. Instead of being able to possibly persuade anybody to your way of thinking you do the exact opposite. All you're doing is riling everybody up.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Ryan: Trump Threat To Revoke Security Clearances Is 'Trolling People'

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday downplayed a threat by President Trump to revoke security clearances for a number intelligence officials who served under President Barack Obama as "trolling" and not a political act.

"I think he's trolling people, honestly," Ryan told reporters. "This is something that is in the purview of the executive branch."

Ryan moved on quickly when asked whether it is dangerous for Trump to threaten people's security clearances over politics. Democrats and Republicans have warned that revoking classified access over political dissent could have a chilling effect on the intelligence community.

You Can’t Vote Out Fascism… You Have to Drive It From Power!
https://www.counterpunch.org/2018/07/20/you-cant-vote-out-fascism-you-
have-to-drive-it-from-power
/

I’ve been noticing a increasing phenomena on MSNBC and other mainstream media outlets: as the Trump/Pence regime resorts to ever more outrageous behavior, the various pundits—when asked to explain this or that monstrous action or statement—just shake their heads and admit that they’re simply baffled as to why anyone would do something so irrational, so clueless, so counterproductive, so cruel. There’s an unspoken implication that the regime can’t possibly understand what they’re actually doing?—?which in turn suggests that this can’t go on forever, that the whole thing will implode due to their painfully evident incompetence and/or thoughtlessness.

The first thing to point out is that the regime’s words and actions, insane as they might appear to any rational human being, are not arbitrary, and they’re not just bluster. These guys mean exactly what they say. From the very beginning, we’ve been told to take Trump’s words “seriously but not literally”, that he’s just “communicating with his base”, and that he’ll be reined in by the “adults in the room”, or maybe by our (increasingly mythical) “checks and balances”. These lines of reasoning start from the premise that Trump is just another corrupt far-right politician, deploying exagerrated rhetoric merely to get attention, while in fact staying within the boundaries of agreed-upon norms of civilized behavior. If we’ve learned anything in the last year and a half, it’s that this regime has no shame, no scruples, and no limits.

Fascist tendencies in right-wing politics are of course nothing new; it’s just that they were usually (mildly) disguised by coded language and “dog whistles”, allowing plausible deniability for politicians and their racist, xenophobic followers. But this regime is different. They’re not hiding it any more. This allows them to keep upping the ante. One consequence of this is that it leaves no middle ground: this is because anything short of driving them from power essentially means acquiescence and acceptance, and paves the ground for further atrocities.

The media’s failure to recognize these obvious facts points to some glaring limitations of their blinkered world view: they can’t understand, because they can’t let themselves understand. If they did, they would have to grapple with two simple facts: first, that the country is headed inexorably into full-on fascism; and second, that a massive sustained public uprising is the only thing that could stop this nightmare.

I know, I know: the midterms are only four months away, the blue wave, take back the house, that’s what we have to focus on. I’m sorry, but that’s bullshit. There’s five simple words that refute this course: You can’t vote out fascism. While it’s true that some of our commentariat are finally admitting that, hey, maybe these guys really are fascists, none of them can seem to make the mental leap to what that might imply as far as a viable strategy.

Look around, and ask yourself: what are these dirtbags willing to do to stay in power? The answer is obvious: anything. How did they achieve power in the first place? By cheating: gerrymandering, fraud, hacking, disenfranchisement, etc. Now they’ve been there for nearly two years. The Democrats won the 2016 election by three million votes, and look at where we are; do you really think 2018 is going to be any better? (And I won’t get into how ineffective the Democratic leadership has been; that’s a whole other can of worms.)

You know what a ratchet is, right? It’s got teeth that only allow motion in one direction. Try to go the other way, and nothing happens. That’s how fascist politics work. As long as everything is headed in the direction they want, they can keep up the pretense that nothing has changed, that this is still business as usual. But the minute that they start losing—in the courts, in the media, in elections, whatever—they pull out every trick in the book—and nothing is off limits.

We can see this everywhere: in the Supreme Court battle (Merrick Garland? Never. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh? It would be unfair to delay confimation for one instant), the Muslim ban, immigration, the EPA, everywhere. Any battle they win, no matter how ugly and lethal the outcome, no matter how unpopular, it’s settled, let’s move on. Anything they lose? That can’t stand.

Remember: a rachet only goes one way.

While it’s heartening to see a new level of dissent and protest, we can’t lose sight of the fact that fascists don’t give a damn what you or the public thinks—or who or what they vote for.

They will continue until we force them to stop. And that’s not going to happen through normal channels.

Nobody is going to take anybody seriously that throws out words like fascism and regime when there is no fascist regime in their country.

You insult people who live in countries where fascist regimes are oppressing them, and you look like a spoiled little kid whining about your 1st World problems.

And I don't think you have a firm grasp on how a ratchet works.

Wow.... two complaints about the Electoral College in one day. Rachel Maddow must have brought it up again last night, huh?

I think you are right in terms of Trump supporters.

Personally: If the Dems want to win more they need to stop being stereo typical liberals that undecideds and border line Trump supporters have a lack of patience for and a negative hair trigger against. That's a trap they'll never get out of. Maybe they'll win anyway by energizing the undecideds with their passion and beliefs, hard to say. I wouldn't trust it myself. Facts don't seem to matter to undecideds and Trump voters no matter how loud or compelling they're presented.

When I was a kid my oldest brother went to Vietnam War protests. I remember thinking, "why don't you wear a suit and even a tie and try and look more like them (republicans/conservatives/establishment). That way your conversations don't start with "get a hair cut you f*king goddamn hippy!" You'll never change someone's mind if you start out by pissing them off.

Dale Carnegie 101.

What you've also got to understand though is that "facts" as you believe them to be might not actually be facts. Sure... You believe that they are, but you surround yourself with an equal and opposite echo chamber that Fox News viewers surround themselves with on a daily basis.

I think it's just as unfair to lump all of the undecideds in the same group as Trump Supporters as it would be to lump them in with Clinton supporters, in terms of willingness to believe the "facts".

It's really, really hard to determine what is a "fact" in 2018. Damn near impossible in a lot of cases. Objectivity in the media is dead. You'll often get two very different stories on a topic depending on where you get your news.

I'll never forget a very wise thing that my Uncle said to me when I was a kid stuck between two parents in a nasty divorce and I asked him which parent I should believe. "The truth is somewhere in the middle".

Words to live by, those.

But back to How to Win Friends and Influence People...

The Democrats might have an easier time getting more undecideds to get behind them if they weren't insulting and attacking anybody who doesn't fall in line with their way of thinking. Men in general, and whites in particular. The identity politics of the Democrats in 2018 need to stop. Even T will agree with me on this point.

Since we're in a time where determining what "the truth" is often requires a "leap of faith", it wouldn't hurt to be a bit more friendly when trying to persuade somebody to your side.

And it should be rather telling when the Democrats are having such a problem doing just that when somebody like Trump is on the other side of them.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Trump moves to punt three political problems until after the midterms

THE BIG IDEA: Responding to the pleas of Republican congressional leaders, President Trump appeared willing on Wednesday to temporarily back off three of his top priorities in a bid to save GOP majorities in the midterms.

The president moved to de-escalate his unpopular trade war, signaled that he’s no longer committed to shut down the federal government in October if the border wall isn’t fully funded and reluctantly relented on his rapprochement with Russia. After inviting Vladimir Putin to visit Washington in the fall with fanfare last week, the White House announced yesterday that he won’t come until 2019.

I had to look this up since you didn't cite it. Here were the tweets in question...

Quote:

3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico. When I left the Island, AFTER the storm had hit, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths. As time went by it did not go up by much. Then, a long time later, they started to report really large numbers, like 3000...

.....This was done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible when I was successfully raising Billions of Dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico. If a person died for any reason, like old age, just add them onto the list. Bad politics. I love Puerto Rico!

He didn't say that 3,000 Puerto Rican's died because of Democrats. The very first line in the tweet said "3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico."

The average death rate in Puerto Rico is 8.6 per 1,000 as of 2017 (0.0086%): https://www.indexmundi.com/puerto_rico/death_rate.html

The population of Puerto Rico is 3,658,163: http://www.worldometers.info/world-population/puerto-rico-population/

This would mean that in any given year, roughly 31,460 people will die in Puerto Rico. It's been only 11 months, so let's call it 28,838 people.

What Trump said is that when he left the island there were no more than a dozen and a half deaths.

He didn't blame any hurricane related deaths on Democrats. He said that the MSM has taken a smaller pool of the number of people who die on average every year (particularly old people) and mis-attributed it to the hurricane.

Don't die on this hill, T. This is the type of bad reporting that leaves you with no argument, and just makes people who read past the headlines even more skeptical of the blatantly left leaning MSM.

6ixStringJack, look this one up: "Hurricane Maria was a manmade disaster. Hundreds of families told us what really happened"
https://qz.com/1390559/

The key word in the title is "manmade". You can read the details of what that meant, from traffic signals with no electricity for months causing fatal crashes to fatalities caused by medical equipment without electricity for months to deaths caused by dirty water because sewage treatment plants were not running for months and bottled water supplies run out, etc. at https://hurricanemariasdead.com/database.html

The Man in "manmade disaster" is Trump. But he has said it was not him. He's wrong about that.

How Puerto Rico's Hurricane Maria death toll of 3,000 was calculated

A team of researchers spent six months poring over death certificates, speaking to funeral home directors and interviewing doctors to arrive at a death toll of nearly 3,000 people as result of Hurricane Maria's devastation to Puerto Rico, according to the lead author of the study.

“This was a scientific research project commissioned by the government of Puerto Rico and independently done,” said Carlos Santos-Burgoa, who led the study from George Washington University's Milken Institute of School of Public Health.

Can somebody find me a link where the study is made available.

I can think of a few reasons why some high ranking politicians in Puerto Rico would want to see those results, but I'll keep them to myself for now until the actual study can be reviewed.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

I see that once again our resident authoritarian liberaloids are harping on some theoretical thing being "destroyed" and yet ignoring the literal mountains of bodies that we've left in our wake.

AFA Puerto Rico is concerned... the administration of PR fucked the people a long time ago. The infrastructure was shit, the place was falling apart, AND it was bankrupt! It's not the job of FEMA to swoop in and fix decades of neglect and corruption, bringing everything to a spit-polished shine. If anyone is to blame I's start looking at the governor's level and work my way downward.

I've been harping about robustness (or - to use the latest buzzword - "resilience") and hardening our infrastructure against disaster for years. Also, the evils of fractional reserve banking and the idiocy of borrowing money from banks when they can just create it out of thin air, but then you have to pay it back with REAL money. Not running on a trade deficit. Well, this is what happens when your administration just runs off a cliff. But don't worry ... the USA has been doing exactly the same wrong things for decades. It'll be our turn in the barrel sooner or later.

Trying to whitewash today's problems with "wull, we f*cked in the past" is why nothing gets fixed. It literally is backwards.

"those who failed to learn from history are doomed to repeat it..."

Trump and admin and GOP "leaders obviously don't give a sh*t about PR. Will he throw out paper towels when Florence leaves? Or will he do something to make sure electric is restored quickly? Yeah, we know the answer. The least he could do is take the money Mueller got from his convicted campaign manager - $46 million - and put it toward fixing the island.

I can't be arsed to do it.

I've already poked quite a few holes in recent months by bringing actual polls used for stories and I haven't gotten even any arguments to those points when the legitimate sources are cited and they quash the article titles that are cited here.

I'm assuming that I don't get any arguments at that point because it's very clear that I'm right about the issues since you guys just love arguing with me, even if it's only to say "you're wrong because I said so".

From now on, I'm taking the stance that if you're going to use a poll or a study (and that goes for ANYONE HERE ON EITHER "SIDE") then you better also take a look at the actual poll or study and provide a link to it, otherwise it's going to be ignored.

Being told that there was a study done, and being told how it was done via paraphrasing everything, yet not actually linking to the study itself in an article reeks of biased journalism.

News outlets from both sides need to start providing us with links to these things and let us decide for ourselves.

Everybody here should demand that they do this, and not take any news outlet's word for anything.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Russian Cyberwarfare Is Much Worse Than You Think.
Trump’s Indifference to It Is Much More Criminal Than You Think.

Those of us who are critics of Russia—and Vladimir Putin in particular—are usually focused on Putin’s retrograde politics. Putin has shut down the press; murdered his opponents; jailed dissidents; used homophobic legislation to stoke bigotry and reactionary rage; co-opted the church to portray himself as the only reliable protector of Russian culture; killed off opposition parties; and just generally centralized authority in himself.

But there’s also his aggressive foreign policy: wars in Chechnya, Georgia, Syria, Ukraine, the annexation of Crimea, and threats against the Baltic states and others. Regional hegemons usually engage in a fair amount of military activity, so perhaps much of this can be written off as nothing all that unusual. Your mileage may vary.

But Russia’s cyberwarfare is something quite different: it is destructive, highly advanced, and very definitely not restricted to the ordinary kind of hegemonic military activity, which is typically targeted at either border states or very limited engagements in proxy wars that are temporarily deemed important for some reason. Russia has made it clear that cyberwar is something it takes very seriously and is willing to use against anyone, whether they’re at war or not. That obviously includes us. And just as obviously, our current president has decided to do almost nothing about it.

We can only hope that the Pentagon and the NSA are ignoring Donald Trump and doing a good job of fighting this stuff on their own. In the meantime, the big question is: Why doesn’t Trump care? And why does the Republican Party allow him to get away with not caring?

Trump’s corruption is staining everything. Now it’s about to stain the Supreme Court.

Here’s why: Even if Republicans were to agree that the FBI should look into the new charges lodged by Christine Blasey Ford, there are no circumstances under which Trump would ever accept the FBI’s findings — should they cast further doubt on Kavanaugh’s nomination, or even fail to fully exonerate him — as legitimate. That fact is a direct outgrowth of Trump’s corrupt attacks on the FBI and law enforcement as part of of his ongoing campaign of harassment and disruption directed at the investigation into his own conduct and that of his campaign.

To no avail, huh?

I'm completely fine with the way things are going bro. You're the one who's got something to bitch about everyday.

The Leftists are getting destroyed now and are looking more and more insane everyday. Enjoy the Kavanaugh appointment, and at this point I wouldn't even bank on the Dems taking either the senate or the house in the mid-terms.

I know you think you're winning, but time's going to tell a different story. And people like you have nobody to blame but yourself.

Well now. This is a fairly excellent demonstration of outrageously manipulated charting, completely out of context and without reference.

As hard as it is to dream up such comparisons, one must wonder what kind of deep underground tunnel these Libtards must reside in order to believe such drivel.

Let's look at the facts of this chart.

These are all S&P 500 numbers.
1497 - 1 August 2000
1526 - 1 October 2007 - this is the peak, and defines the range.
896 - 1 November 2008 - 58.7% of the range. Rock-The-Vote loss of 41.3%
903 - 1 December 2008
797 - 1 January 2009 - 52.2%
746 - 20 January 2009 - 48.9%, Impending Doom of Obama creates 9.8% loss.

773 - 1 March 2009
849 - 1 January 2010 - 55.6%
800 - 1 February 2010 - 52.4%, from 745 an increase of 3.5%, from 896 still a loss of 6.3%

PoppinKREAM
Canada

I still vividly remember Sean Hannity defending Michael Cohen and disparaging Special Counsel Mueller when investigators raided Cohen's properties. Hannity failed to mention that he was Cohen's client.[1]

Sean Hannity and Fox News provided a platform for President Trump to push his treacherous actions and lies to his base after defending Russia and Putin in front of the entire world during the Helsinki press conference.

Following the joint press conference between President Trump and President Putin, Sean Hannity aired an interview with President Trump. The interview was absolutely ridiculous, he provided a platform for President Trump to push his treacherous actions including his claim that Special Counsel Mueller's investigation into Russian election meddling is driving a wedge between U.S. - Russian relations.[2] This is a ridiculous notion as we know 25 Russians have been indicted[3]. After President Trump's denial of Russian meddling and defending Putin, the Justice Department arrested and charged a Russian woman for conspiring to act as an agent of the Russian Federation within the United States.[4] And to top it all off after President Trump acted cowardly in front of the world by siding with Putin and Russia, Sean Hannity praised President Trump as being "very strong" at the joint press conference.[5]

Sean Hannity - Fox News continues to provide propagandists prime time spots, the most infamous being Sean Hannity. Fox News is responsible for fostering and instilling a deep mistrust that's undermining and endangering U.S. institutions.

Prime time Fox News refuses to cover breaking news revelations with in depth analysis, instead they misrepresent events, obfuscate known information, and peddle debunked conspiracy theories fostering a deep mistrust that's endangering U.S. institutions and agencies.[6] On the day of President Trump's personal attorney's office raids, Sean Hannity went on Fox and disparaged Special Counsel Mueller claiming that investigators had *"declared war on the President of the United States."*[7] Then we found out that Sean Hannity was a client of Michael Cohen, he never disclosed this fact until it was discovered at a recent court hearing.[8] Furthermore, a report has come out alleging that Sean Hannity speaks to President Trump nearly every weeknight.[9] Moreover, when news broke that Trump's former Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort was indicted by Special Counsel Mueller, Fox News initially ignored the breaking news and instead focused on a hamburger emoji.[10]

Sean Hannity and Fox News have pushed incredibly deceitful portrayals of events over the course of Special Counsel Mueller's investigation, omitting facts so that they create an alternate reality that doesn't actually exist. For example when news broke that President Trump attempted to fire Special Counsel Mueller, Fox News host Sean Hannity deflected and changed his story several times within an hour on his show; first by claiming the report was fake news, then defended Trump by claiming that he didn't do anything wrong omitting the fact that in doing so would be obstructing an ongoing investigation, and finally Hannity cut to a video of a car crash instead of discussing pertinent breaking news.[11]

Fox News has been spinning and lying to protect President Trump.

many Americans may be surprised to find that leaders across the globe laughed at their President as Fox News edited out the laughing in the clips they initially shared.[12]

During Trump’s UN speech to the assembly, Fox News uploaded two clips that circumvented the awkward moment. In the first clip, Fox cut off Trump’s speech as soon as he finished saying that the U.S. has accomplished more than any other presidential administration.

Three minutes later, Fox posted a second excerpt for viewers, this time beginning right after the uncomfortable moment had ended. This effectively cut out the entire moment, from world leaders snickering at Trump to the entire assembly bursting out in laughter. For Fox viewers checking their Twitter timelines during the event, it was almost as if the moment had never happened at all.

Now they are spinning the laughter. This morning the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations was on Fox & Friends, Nikki Haley claimed that world leaders were laughing in admiration and support.[13] She claimed that world leaders respect and love how honest President Trump is.[14]

I'm currently watching President Trump's live (fourth) press conference and he just claimed that world leaders were laughing with him and that reporters are reporting fake news.[15] There is video evidence that world leaders were laughing at the President of the United States of America after he made outrageous statements.^[16]

He said the American economy was “booming like never before” and that his administration has accomplished more in less than two years than almost any other administration.

His boast elicited laughter from the scores of heads of state and delegates in the audience for the speech.

Trump, who has long claimed that his predecessors’ weak leadership prompted other nations “to laugh” at the US. appeared flustered and responded, “I didn’t expect that reaction, but that’s OK.”
