ARE THE LATEST RAIDS A DIRECT RESULT OF TRUMP’S ORDER?
Immigration officials say they aren’t.
David Marin, Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s field office director for enforcement and removal operations in greater Los Angeles, said the agency carries out these operations two or three times a year in his region. He says the California operation was in the planning stages “before the administration came out with their current executive orders.”

... Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly testified before Congress. He told lawmakers immigration agents expressed frustration about that they were not fully allowed to enforce immigration laws under the Obama administration.

Also, when Trump hits the 2 million mark in 8 years - or a half-million in one year - let me know. He hasn't even come close to Obama's record at this point.

Obama administration kicks off family deportation raids
The Obama administration confirmed Monday that it began a new wave of arrests of Central American immigrant families over the weekend, moving forward with deportations of mothers and children despite an outcry from immigrant rights groups and potential political fallout for Democrats.

Obama administration plans new raids that would deport Central American children
The Obama administration is planning another series of raids that would lead to the deportation of Central American mothers and children found to have entered the country illegally, the Department of Homeland Security said Thursday.
The raids will target adults and children who crossed the border illegally after Jan. 1, 2014, a population of immigrants that the Obama administration has identified as priorities for deportation, according to Homeland Security spokeswoman Marsha Catron.

The Hard Truths About Obama’s Deportation Priorities
Trump’s Executive Orders on immigration, his expansion of who is defined as a criminal and his rhetoric about “bad hombres” are a departure from Obama, but not as much as we might like to believe. If progressives keep lying to themselves about their past, they are doomed to continue to push the same failed policies of the corporate wing of the Democratic party, exemplified by Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

Obama again! Show me....show me in black and white where you got such information.
Now, mind you, I know Obama usually gets blamed for every ill in the world. And I know that his administration created the policy of deportation since America's
infancy. But, there were some other policies he implemented, regarding immigration, that supposedly the right-wing T-Party people are clamoring for from
the Great Big Orange One.

Funny, How is it that you guys vehemently support border control and capturing
"illegals" - especially with that Turd Bucket Trump, yet you blame Obama for all
that ills this country at present regarding same?

I find that curious, to say the least.

It's to show you the hypocrisy of the left and the MSM.

It's also acknowledging the hypocrisy of the right at the same time.

No matter how far right or left leaning things may seem, the illegals are still allowed to come here and flourish. The few you're crying about right now are just examples. Meanwhile, there are tens of millions of illegals living and working here, not paying taxes, getting free healthcare and school for their kids, etc.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

U.S. Placed Immigrant Children With Traffickers, Report Says

This I believe was the outfall of Obama's DACA. There were plenty of stories running in the LATimes 2012-2014 about parents and children living on opposite sides of the border after Obama - the 'Deporter in Chief' deported their parents.

LATimes
Obama to Dreamers' parents: No deferral for you
Michael McGough
Nov 21, 2014 | 4:00 AM
The most curious aspect of the proposal was what it didn’t contain: deferral of deportation for the parents of the so-called Dreamers, children brought to this country illegally by their parents.
Two years ago, Obama protected many Dreamers from deportation with his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, known as DACA, and the Dreamers hoped that he would extend the same consideration to their parents.
They were disappointed.
Apparently the White House considered deferring deportation of the Dreamers’ parents, too, but ran into a roadblock from the Office of Legal Counsel in the Justice Department. The head of that office, Karl R. Thompson, concluded that “the proposed deferred action program for parents of DACA recipients would not be a permissible exercise of enforcement discretion.”

With record deportations and families torn apart, we are in the midst of a humanitarian and moral crisis. ... The hardest stories come from the mothers. Between 2010 and 2012, the Obama administration deported more than 200,000 parents of U.S. citizen children, and more since that time. Many of the children of deported parents end up in the child welfare system, and may be separated indefinitely.

U.S. immigration policy splits families when parents are deported

“How can my country not allow a mother to be with her children, especially when they are so young and they need her?” Rony Molina asks. “And especially when they are Americans?”

It’s a question thousands of families are wrestling with as a record number of deportations means record numbers of American children being left without a parent — despite President Barack Obama’s promise that his administration would focus on removing only criminals.

Nearly 45,000 such parents were removed in the first six months of this year, says the federal department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

At least 5,100 U.S. citizen children in 22 states live in foster care, according to an estimate by the Applied Research Center, a New York-based advocacy organization, which first reported on such cases last year.

I've been trying to point out that just because one "side" is bad doesn't make the other "side" good, or even marginally better. I think a lot of you are stuck in thinking of this as a matter of 'teams', where there are only two in a game, and one side wins and the other side loses. But this isn't televised sports with all the glitz and commercialized team spirit. It's a quieter and more complex reality. We need to solve problems, not pick teams.

What problem (your word, not mine) is Trump "solving" here? Trump leaves the fate of nearly 100,000 Indian H-1B spouses in a limbo again

For the second time this year, the Donald Trump administration has deferred a decision on H4 visa-holders’ right to work in the US.

In March this year, the department of homeland security had pushed its decision-making timeline from February to June. And now that deadline has ended, leaving the fate of thousands of immigrant workers in the US hanging fire.

The H4 is a dependent visa category used by spouses of those holding the much sought-after H-1B long-term work visa. An outsized impact of this delay will be on Indians who hold nearly 80% of the H4s. Women, who account for nine in ten of the over 100,000 H4 visas issued annually, will particularly be affected, leaving them trapped in their “golden cages.”

For decades, spouses of H-1B holders could not work in the US or even get a social security number. This left many highly qualified women, who’d left behind established careers in India, idling away at home in the US.

Things changed a little in 2015, when the Barack Obama administration allowed H4 visa-holders whose spouses were awaiting green card approval to seek work permits themselves.

However, the relief was short-lived. Since he took power in January 2017, Trump has been considering a decision to scrap the rule.

Do you have a point, 1kiki/Signym? Or are you playing Socrates/Plato and taking the abstract position of a philosopher located far out in space (or East of Moscow) looking down from 100,000 miles high upon all the tiny humans and their petty squabbling in the USA?

1kiki/Signym, you always give off the strong stench of someone who knows none of the facts, likes to lie, cares nothing about outcomes, and wants to demonstrate that you are above the fray, so superior. Let me hit you with something real, that has hard facts, and deathly consequences. 1kiki, bring on your typical sneering attitude (and by the way, when are you and Signym suing me? I look forward to meeting your "lawyer" in court. Or at least getting a certified letter in my P.O. Box. Often Trump threatens to sue, then does not. Did you learn that intimidation technique from him?) Here we go with Trump being a Scumbag:

On May 20, Trump demanded on Twitter that the Justice Department “look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes.” The president, Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee, and conservative media outlets, most notably Fox News, had been alleging for weeks that the FBI had used a spy to infiltrate Trump’s political campaign — even though they were unable to provide any credible evidence that this was true. Who needs facts when you are a philosopher? Make your own phony facts to fit your desires, so that your arguments can't be attacked!

The president of the United States has no formal authority to order the Department of Justice to conduct a criminal investigation. And in this particular instance, there was no evidence of wrongdoing that might rationalize the opening of such an inquiry. Moreover, Trump’s motives in demanding such an inquiry seemed intended to discredit an ongoing criminal investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller of the president himself and several of his top advisers and family members.

But Trump was determined to get his way. On at least three occasions, according to a senior US government official familiar with the matter, Trump brought up the issue personally with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, variously asking, cajoling, and demanding either that he investigate the purported spy or appoint a special counsel to more broadly look at alleged wrongdoing by DOJ and FBI officials who had pursued the Russia interference inquiry.

I never heard anyone call him "The Deporter in Chief", and these numbers are new to me. If he actually did that, it might very well be the single thing that he did in 8 years that I support.

I think they're probably showing you those numbers to show you just another in a very, very long string of the hypocrisy of the Left and the MSM. In this case, it's only hypocrisy if those numbers are true.

This administration has done nothing to combat anti-government and extreme right-wing terrorism. On the contrary, they have rescinded previous programs and laws and have created a breeding ground for an increase of hate crime and domestic terrorism. Many of us have been warning that the current political atmosphere, from rhetoric espoused by the media and political figures to the actions taken by this administration, breeds extremity.

In 2009 and 2015 the Department of Homeland Security, as well as the FBI, warned us about the rise of right wing terrorism.[1] Guess what President Trump and this administration did as one of their first acts? Cut funding to programs meant to combat far right terrorism.[2] This action was taken when we know that there is a growing trend of anti-government terrorism.[3] This is a probpem for both sides of the political spectrum, take the anti-government terrorist who shot at GOP Congressman Scalise at a baseball game as an example.[4] However, the majority of terrorist attacks are perpetuated by the far right in America. This snippet from a NYT op-ed shows just how ridiculous the terrorism rhetoric has become while this administration ignores white supremacy terrorism.[5] This isn't discounting the threat of terrorism, however I find it astonishing that this administration and the GOP/right wing media sphere completely ignore the largest perpetrators of terrorism in America.[6]

The frequency of far-right attacks is particularly significant in the United States, where white supremacist, anti-government and neo-Nazi extremists have been responsible for 73 percent of deadly terrorist attacks since Sept. 11, 2001, according to the Government Accountability Office. Also notable is that in many cases, Muslims have become the target of violence.

The United States of America is a victim of 300 violent attacks inspired by the far right every year.[7] A recent example are the three men from Illinois who were charged with a mosque bombing, one of the men drafted a border wall plan for Trump.[8] I'll include this small excerpt from an article by USA Today, I implore everyone to read how right-wing terrorism is rapidly accelerating in America. This all occurred in a single week in May of 2017 and yet President Trump is still waiting for all the facts before he does anything.[9]

• May 20 – Richard Collins III, an African American and Bowie State University student, was stabbed to death by Sean Urbanski, a member of a Facebook group called the "Alt-Reich: Nation."

• May 26 – Three men in Portland tried to stop white supremacist Jeremy Christian from harassing two women who appeared to be Muslim. For their bravery, the three men were viciously attacked; two were murdered and the third was seriously injured.

• May 27 – Anthony Hammond was arrested in Clearlake, Calif. for allegedly stabbing a black man with a machete, after yelling racial slurs. While en route to the Lake County Jail, Hammond threatened to kill the transporting officer and his family once he was released. Hammond was charged with committing a hate crime, among other charges.

• May 28 – Two Native American men in Washington State were run over by a pickup truck driven by a white man shouting racial slurs and war whoops. One of the tribal members was killed and the other hospitalized.

All of these attacks were committed by extremists who appear to be inspired by a politically motivated ideology that posits racial, moral and religious superiority and demands violent action to advance it. People are dead or injured because of ideologically motived attacks. Where is the public outrage? Where are the calls for national unity and enhanced security? Why aren’t we asking where and how these people were radicalized?

Helk, even National Security Adviser John Bolton tapped up a Neo-Nazi as the Chief of Staff of the National Security Council.[10]

U.S. Army discharging troops promised citizenship through service

Immigrant enlistees into the Army’s active duty and reserve units, promised a path to citizenship in exchange for military service, are being discharged from the service’s ranks.
Roughly 40 U.S. soldiers have been quietly discharged from the Army due to their immigrant status, the Associated Press reported Thursday night. Potentially more have been involuntarily separated from the ground service, but Army and Pentagon officials declined to provide additional details on those discharges, due to pending litigation against the service by those being removed, the AP reports.
The existing Army program, known as the Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest program or MAVNI was initiated under the George W. Bush administration.
Under the program, immigrants seeking to enlist in the Army must be in the U.S. legally before being considered for military service. President Barack Obama extended the program to allow young immigrants who entered the U.S. illegally under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA policy to participate.
Over 5,000 recruits enlisted into the Army in 2016 alone, under the program with over 10,000 currently in uniform in the Army and other service branches. Immigrant enlistees are eligible to become naturalized U.S. citizens upon completion of basic training. Over 110,000 U.S. service members have joined the military since Sept. 11, 2001.

Call it another trial balloon.

I heard about this on WGN last night.

40 out of 15,000 isn't a bad number by any means. Should probably wait for more details about the "why" before anybody goes making any rush judgements and starts calling everybody racists.

Those 40 make up .0026% of the amount of people who went into the program since it was enacted by the GWB admin, according to your article.

I can think of about 1,000 reasons why 40 of 15,000 people might be discharged from the armed services, and none of them have anything to do with race or nationality is all I'm saying.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

While I don't give Trumps administration the benefit of the doubt on anything, I want to be careful with this one. I recently saw were our military had a gang problem. If the story is true the press may not have picked up on the correct reason why this is happening. That said, if it is true and these are not gang members, this would be another example of why I am embarrassed to be American at the moment.

Is gang membership the only "out" here? I'd widen that scope if I were you.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_discharge

Quote:

According to the Department of Defense, out of 207,000 service members that were discharged in 2014, more than 18,000 (9%) were issued less-than-honorable paperwork, including 4,143 (2.0%) other-than-honorable discharges, 637 (0.31%) bad conduct discharges, and 157 (0.08%) dishonorable discharges. After 2000, 352,000 people were handed similar papers ranging from general discharge to bad conduct and dishonorable discharge.[18]

There are a lot of potential reasons for a discharge. Very little of these reasons would have anything to do with their nationality status, especially considering there are nearly 15,000 still in the service, which amounts to well over 99% of those who entered this program. (18,000 personnel in general in 2014 got a "less than honorable" discharge)

If anything, I would say that a 99%+ pass rate would be evidence that people in this program are held to less strict standards than citizens who join the services.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

If you read nothing else today, read this.

Fintan O’Toole: Trial runs for fascism are in full flow
Babies in cages were no ‘mistake’ by Trump but test-marketing for barbarism
https://www.irishtimes.com/opinion/fintan-o-toole-trial-runs-for-fasci
sm-are-in-full-flow-1.3543375

"To see, as most commentary has done, the deliberate traumatisation of migrant children as a “mistake” by Trump is culpable naivety. It is a trial run – and the trial has been a huge success. Trump’s claim last week that immigrants “infest” the US is a test-marketing of whether his fans are ready for the next step-up in language, which is of course “vermin”. And the generation of images of toddlers being dragged from their parents is a test of whether those words can be turned into sounds and pictures. It was always an experiment – it ended (but only in part) because the results were in.

‘Devious’ infants
And the results are quite satisfactory. There is good news on two fronts. First, Rupert Murdoch is happy with it – his Fox News mouthpieces outdid themselves in barbaric crassness: making animal noises at the mention of a Down syndrome child, describing crying children as actors. They went the whole swinish hog: even the brown babies are liars. Those sobs of anguish are typical of the manipulative behaviour of the strangers coming to infest us – should we not fear a race whose very infants can be so devious? Second, the hardcore fans loved it: 58 per cent of Republicans are in favour of this brutality. Trump’s overall approval ratings are up to 42.5 per cent.

This is greatly encouraging for the pre-fascist agenda. The blooding process has begun within the democratic world. The muscles that the propaganda machines need for defending the indefensible are being toned up. Millions and millions of Europeans and Americans are learning to think the unthinkable. So what if those black people drown in the sea? So what if those brown toddlers are scarred for life? They have already, in their minds, crossed the boundaries of morality. They are, like Macbeth, “yet but young in deed”. But the tests will be refined, the results analysed, the methods perfected, the messages sharpened. And then the deeds can follow."

What will be the next outrage? How will they condition the ignorant to accept barbarity as the norm?

SCUMBAG!

And the results are quite satisfactory. There is good news on two fronts. First, Rupert Murdoch is happy with it – his Fox News mouthpieces outdid themselves in barbaric crassness: making animal noises at the mention of a Down syndrome child, describing crying children as actors.

Rupert Murdoch is 87 years old. His sons run the show now. One of whom donated a large amount of money to the Clinton Foundation.

FOX News, just like CNN and MSNBC are nothing more than whores for ratings, and are the number one reason why everyone is arguing all the time. Regardless of what any of them say, they all LOVE Trump. Business is booming for these 24/7 whores.

Online anyways. I seem to get along just fine with everybody in real life and nobody talks about politics. I think you probably need to go outside and get some fresh air. Maybe leave your smartphone at home when you go out and visit with people, and request that they don't use theirs while you're together.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Of course that number is very low percent wise, and I included that part of the article specifically so there are no accusations of hyperbole. The questions any curious person should be asking - especially in this current anti-immagrant climate - is why now? Why not before? Why is this suddenly important? Is this another trial balloon? You don't mess with the Military without seeing what The Base's response is going to be.

There are reductions being made to all forms of immigration, legal and illegal, and now we're even seeing attempts to de-naturalize immigrants. That's f*cked up. Unless maybe that warms your heart?
