Yes, the hallmarks of narcissism are painfully obvious in the president of the United States. The endless projection. The delusion of grandeur masking a paper-thin skin that punctures under the most benign criticisms. The nonstop gaslighting. But you know who else every single one of these attributes describes?

His base.

I remember President Jimmy Carter caught hell from the Republicans when he quoted from Christopher Lasch’s The Culture of Narcissism. The Republicans realized that Carter was calling them nuts. It’s 40 years later and Republicans are no-longer drifting in that direction. They are shipwrecked on the shores of Narcissism.

For decades democrats have been saying that republican voters dislike and even hate educated people. That this is because they expose their street corner logic based on emotions and void of a understanding of the facts, to be stupid.

Another thing the democrats believed was that the republican party was saturated with racists. Something the republicans dismissed as nothing more than hateful propaganda by the left.

Well folks, the democrats were and are right. Vote for democrats and make America great again.

How will Trump voters react on Monday morning to Trump's tweet on Sunday night? Most will never know, but this will be a very straight forward test of those voters. I believe their reaction will be the same as the rest of their lives -- 1) passive acceptance and 2) no understanding. Neither way can work to get them ahead in America. Not getting ahead is why they voted for Trump.

Gingrich would lose in a landslide against anybody that the Democrats threw against him. Might as well have Rudy Giuliani run for president. Maybe Roger Stone.

Nah. Assuming he's still healthy, they're going to go with Trump again. That's not even up for debate. No matter how bad he might get, the vocal minority of the Leftists, spearheaded by the MSM and the Hollywood Elite are so out of touch with the rest of the country and that gives Trump all the ammo he needs to get people fired up.

My prediction is things can keep going just as non-good as they've been going the last two years and he's going to win the electoral college in another landslide if the Democrats don't do a hard 180. There seems to be zero indication that this will happen.

The only way that Trump doesn't get re-elected in 2020 is if a nuclear war breaks out, or if the American economy goes into a complete free fall.

Vice President Mike Pence is more likely. He is both mentally stable (can't say that about Gingrich or Trump) and is not a crook (can't say that about Gingrich or Trump, either) and Pence doesn't have Trump's or Gingrich's history of betraying their many wives in many messy divorces and adulterous affairs. But on the other hand, Pence isn't a tub of lard (see Trump and Gingrich for fat heads and fat asses) which might be a disadvantage in appealing to the obese Trump voters.

SCUMBAG! Abolish ICE!

What does this have to do with Trump? My cousin joined (what would later become) ICE at the beginning of his professional career forty years ago. He was assigned to Campo, CA, and one of the things that gave him an ulcer was knowing how abusive and predatory some of his fellow "officers" were, especially towards pretty young women. Son, this has been going on for - literally- decades. I know it's fashionable to attach every possible problem to the Trump administration, but that's ridiculous.

AS I HAVE POSTED ABOUT TWO DOZEN TIMES ... the "solutions" to our economic and social predicaments are far beyond what ANY President can accomplish, even in two terms. It would require such radical reorganization of banking and finance, a complete overhaul of our trade policies, re-industrialization and repairing/improving infrastructure, breakup of monopolies (including media monopolies) etc etc etc that would put FDR's efforts to shame.

The best thing that I expect from Trump is to keep those decisions WITHIN THE UNITED STATES, so that we can collectively make our way forward through what I perceive to be a coming disaster.

Our problems have been over a half-century in the making, and they're not about to get solved in four or eight years. That's about as realistic and thinking we can reverse global climate change at this point.

I hope I don't have to repeat this point .... AGAIN ... for your edification, because I've posted it waaay too often already.

Well, maybe NOW is the time for me to re-ask the question that I've asked a couple-dozen times by now, but perhaps rephrased in a way more understandable by CC, THUGR, SECOND, WISHY, REAVERFAN and JO: What are America's biggest problems, and how can we solve them?

I think What are America's interests? was perhaps a bit too abstract.

Your point of Economic Doom is duly noted.....there, you have now been acknowledged as the Foreseer of bad tidings. You no longer need to point out the
obvious. I knew it, I knew that trump's little statements would come back to bite him in the end.

"I alone can fix it" can not stand.

Economic woes, as I have noticed, are cyclical. It is the way of the beast....
capitalism. I don't think of "solutions" so much, but of applying certain controls
over the economy. Applying and releasing pressure where needed. The sin comes in the form of Greed and avarice. Your "solution" is to sever all global ties and fend for ourselves (if I'm understanding you correctly). To minimize the damage, so to speak, of the coming "disaster." And you feel that Trump is bravely moving
in that direction? Oh, and didn't Obama advocate for infrastructure building? Whatever happened to that? (a rhetorical question, I know Congress did their damndest to put a krimp into Obama's economic growth agenda.)

If that's the case, I don't see it. Logically, if the world economic order is in shambles and about to implode; wouldn't it stand to reason that the "world" would be better off working together to mend the world economy? Well, what I know about economics could fill a thimble, so I'll leave it at that. Just a curious thought
on my part.

Infrastructure is only a part of the solution; it's not the "make-work" program that Obama envisioned.

At least you're thinking! That's more than can be said for many people here!

I personally think that's one of the critical questions: What is the role of centralization in the coming storm?

When people face a Big Problem, they tend to look for a Big Fix. In this case, a "world-government" to solve world-straddling issues.
But what happens if the Big Fix is part of the Big Problem? There is a kind of One Ring quality to looking for ever-more-centralized solutions to ever-more-centralized causes. Everyone wants to grab it. Are we sure that Sauron has not already grasped the Ring of Power?

What is wrong with the economy is so entirely fucked that "pinpoint" surgery can't possibly work. It would be like trying to cure a person with giant metastatic tumors with microsurgery. I think that the main difference between you and me is that you see Trump as the epitome of greed and corruption, whereas I think there is a whole level of corruption so far above and beyond Trump that it's stratospheric, but has made the entire SYSTEM corrupt worldwide. That some of the most basic assumptions (like fiat currency, debt, centralization/ monopolism, and the corporate business model) are so distorted that anything that grows out of them can't possibly grow straight, irrespective of the people involved.

It's possible that the "size" and "shape" of THIS particular cycle is "The death of a world currency", like when the world currency shifted from the pound to the dollar.

Quote:

I'm all for Reform and Change, but at what cost? And to whom? The "little guy" can ill afford to play economic poker.
First, one must recognize the problem and its size. If the problem is as large as I think it is, there will be a catastrophe that can't be prevented that will hurt EVERYONE, kind of like global warming. Expecting, or hoping, for a future in which "the little guy" will be spared is unrealistic. IMHO. The only rational response is to individually batten down the hatches as much as possible, and to hypothesize a collective path forward which can resist the spin and distortions that ideologues will put forward as they attempt to capitalize on the fear and doubt in the coming crisis.

This is one reason why I established this thread. One of the main reasons why I call trump a scumbag, because he relishes the torture of human beings. By definition being a scumbag determines the complete reversal of any type of human decency in the aforementioned scumbag, namely trump.

And there's this:

Quote:

A federal judge on Monday found that U.S. government officials have been giving psychotropic medication to migrant children at a Texas facility without first seeking the consent of their parents or guardians, in violation of state child welfare laws.

Our "government" promotes this "Nazi-like" behavior. Who does this? Only an inhuman
monster with no empathy or feeling whatsoever.

Quote:

Staff members at Shiloh admitted to signing off on medications in lieu of a parent, relative or legal guardian, according to Gee’s ruling. Government officials defended this practice, saying they provided these drugs only on “an emergency basis” when a child’s “extreme psychiatric symptoms” became dangerous.
The judge didn’t buy this explanation, pointing to testimony from children who said they were given pills “every morning and every night.” Officials “could not have possibly” administered medications to children on an emergency basis every day, Gee wrote.

Absolutely horrible. This is beyond frightening, this could be the equivalent of a
war crime. The "government" has adopted "war crime" like tactics to affect future generations of children of color...the brown kind. Those responsible should be gathered and shot. No trial, no jury, nothing but "you forced a child to take psychotropic drugs. Stand here against this wall. Ready, Aim, Fire. All of them should be executed. Plain and simple. You just don't do that to kids, or anybody.
Merely because they seek asylum and a better way of life. How deathly afraid are
these people of losing their privileged lives. What the fuck is wrong with these people!

My guess is that we must reinstitute and activate the "Nazi hunters" because I think we missed a few after WWII.

Quote:

“I witnessed staff members forcefully give medication four times,” one child held at Shiloh, identified as Isabella M., said. “.?.?. Two staff members pinned down the girl .?.?. and a doctor gave her one or two injections.”
Isabella was prescribed multiple psychotropic medications at Shiloh, including topiramate, without her mother’s consent, according to an April court filing. “Nobody asked me for permission to give medications to my daughter, even though the staff at Shiloh has always had my telephone number and address,” the mother testified.

There is no excuse. No reason. This is complete and utter disregard for human life.
If you think I'm being a bit harsh or melodramatic about the above, just wait a few seconds. It is criminal what these "animals" are doing. Shooting is too good for them.

Hahahaha - you are so funny! So "there's no hope! Whaaaa! We're doomed!" And yet Trump with the help of his Republican friends found a way to line their pockets with billions of fresh American tax dollars. He did that, did he not?

What was it?

Quote:

Yup. Everybody would still be living in caves and straw huts without us.

You've been watching Alex Jones again. Dude check the dawn of man. I mean Google where civilization began. Here, allow me:

Quote:

Where did civilization begin?

Around 3200 B.C., civilization began in two separate areas. In an location that the world now knows as Iraq, the Sumerians settled to form Mesopotamia. In North Africa, ancient Egypt began to form along the Nile Valley.

There's more:

Quote:

The Aztecs were a Mesoamerican people of central Mexico in the fourteenth, fifteenth, and sixteenth centuries. They were a civilization with a rich cultural heritage whose capital, Tenochtitlan, rivaled the greatest cities of Europe in size and grandeur.

Although the term Aztecs is often narrowly restricted to the Mexica of Tenochtitlan, it is also broadly used to refer to Nahua polities or peoples of central Mexico in the prehispanic era, as well as the Spanish colonial era. The definitions of Aztec and Aztecs have long been the topic of scholarly discussion, ever since German scientist Alexander von Humboldt established its common usage in the early nineteenth century.

You're welcome!
