This is good for weed.

Also good for weed: 3 of the 4 states that voted on legalization passed it yesterday.

My suggestion to Trump now is to offer to legalize weed on a federal level in exchange for another moderate tax cut. When the Democrats inevitably deny this, they will alienate a large part of the people who just voted them in. Good way to start the new session.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Just saw this thread. I watched Trumps press conference. Man there were fireworks. I can see him in a rage afterwards. Sessions didn't stand a chance of making it through the day.

You seem overconfidently secure in your belief that Mueller and company have nothing on Mr. Drumpf. I don't know Kiki, but some folk have pleaded guilty and some are in jail, and some about to go. Plus charges have been brought
against our little Russian friends.

Then why oh why did Sessions recuse himself, and why did Comey get fired, and why is Manafort in jail, and why is Cohen cooperating with Mueller and turning
states evidence....shall I go on?

The Deep State can't be everywhere, not all at once. Well, if Drumpf gets his lackey to fire Mueller or put the kibosh on the investigation, we'll get to see just how deep the rabbit hole goes. My guess is that Trump is so nervous
about what Mueller has on him that he may well pull the trigger and have him fired. He needs to do this pronto because the new Congress will report for duty in January. So I expect that within the month or so trump will get Whitaker to either fire Mueller or curtail his investigation. Man, talk about
drama. Trump sure knows how to create a firestorm.

According to the law, you don't place someone who is going to be nominated into the position before his/her nomination. This leads me to believe someone else will get the nod. It also looks like whomever replaces Sessions temporarily has to be someone who has been confirmed by the senate and is already in the justice departments upper echelon.

This may just be about this guy finding out everything Mueller's investigation has uncovered. I am starting to believe he is a paper tiger, we'll see.

Trump is appointing Attorney Generals while Trump is drunk: Only two days after selecting him to be in charge of the Justice Department, Trump is saying he doesn’t know Matt Whitaker:

"Matt Whitaker, I don’t know Matt Whitaker. Matt Whitaker worked for Jeff Sessions. And he was always extremely highly thought of, and he still is. But I didn’t know Matt Whitaker. He worked for Attorney General Sessions."

On Fox News in October, Trump called Whitaker “a great guy” and said the literal words “I know Matt Whitaker” an assertion that would seem to conflict with his Friday position about whether he knows Matt Whitaker—which, to remind you, was “I don’t know Matt Whitaker.”

Why did Trump already throw his possibly Illegal Hot Tub–Scam Attorney General under the bus? Because his appointee Matt Whitaker is dirty:

1kiki, your sarcastic "TRUMP!!!RUSSIA!!!COLLUSION!!!" is pure smoke and mirrors. The Trump Russia Saga summarized in 200 words:

US intelligence agencies believe Russia tried to sway the election in favour of Mr Trump and a special counsel is looking into whether anyone from his campaign colluded in the effort.

Any evidence?
Senior members of Mr Trump's team met Russian officials. Several of these meetings were not initially disclosed.

What meetings?
Ex-national security adviser Michael Flynn lied to the FBI about meeting the Russian ambassador to the US before Mr Trump took office. The president's son, Donald Jr, met a Russian lawyer during the campaign who had "dirt" on Hillary Clinton, and adviser George Papadopoulos has admitted lying to the FBI about meetings with alleged go-betweens for Russia.

Who else is involved?
Former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was charged by the special counsel with financial crimes unrelated to the election, and has been convicted of some counts.

And the president?
Since he fired the man leading one of the investigations, ex-FBI Director James Comey, there are questions whether the president has obstructed justice. The subsequent firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions this week has ignited fears that special counsel Robert Mueller may be undermined.

Trump took office on Jan. 20, 2017, a day after the New York Times reported that U.S. intelligence agencies were investigating connections between Russian officials and Trump’s associates. A week after he was sworn in, Trump summoned FBI Director James Comey to a one-on-one dinner and pressed him for personal loyalty. Three weeks later, after National Security Adviser Michael Flynn resigned for concealing his contacts with Russia, Trump cornered Comey again and asked him to “let this go.”

Soon, Trump enlisted other subordinates to squelch or contain the investigation. He directed his White House Counsel Don McGahn to stop then–Attorney General Jeff Sessions from relinquishing control of the inquiry. When Sessions recused himself anyway, Trump excoriated Sessions for failing to protect him. The president asked then–CIA Director Mike Pompeo and Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, to get Comey to back off. In phone calls, Trump urged Comey to “lift the cloud” of the investigation. And he advised Flynn to seek legal immunity from the “witch hunt.”

None of this stopped the investigation. So Trump fired Comey. The president orchestrated a fake rationale for the firing, leaving an inadvertent paper trail and a slew of witnesses: McGahn, Sessions, and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. The next day, in a backstage meeting at the White House, Trump told Russia’s foreign minister that by firing Comey, he had relieved “pressure” on the U.S.-Russia relationship.

A week after the Comey firing, Rosenstein appointed Mueller to take over the Russia probe. Mueller’s purview explicitly included any “crimes committed in the course of, and with intent to interfere with, the Special Counsel’s investigation, such as perjury, obstruction of justice, destruction of evidence, and intimidation of witnesses.”

In front of McGahn, Vice President Mike Pence, and other officials, Trump accused Sessions of “disloyalty” for recusing himself. The president blamed Mueller’s appointment on Sessions and said the attorney general should resign. Weeks later, Trump ordered McGahn to tell Rosenstein to fire Mueller. McGahn refused.

Meanwhile, Trump scrambled to cover up contacts between his campaign and Russia. In July 2017, when the Times discovered that Donald Trump Jr. and other campaign aides had secretly met with Russian emissaries in Trump Tower, the president dictated, on his son’s behalf, a false account of the meeting. Trump’s lawyers compounded the deception by denying he had played any role in the statement — in effect, covering up the cover-up.

In the year and a half since Mueller’s appointment, Trump has berated Sessions for failing to control the investigation. He tried to pressure Comey’s successor at the FBI, Andrew McCabe. He tried again to fire Mueller. He discussed pardoning himself and other targets of the investigation, and he issued pardons that signaled his willingness to protect friends who withheld evidence.

Four months ago, Mueller obtained an indictment that documented the role of Russian intelligence officers in hacking the 2016 election. Trump responded by blaming “the Rigged Witch Hunt” for hurting “our relationship with Russia.” Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, but Trump insisted Flynn was innocent. Paul Manafort tampered with witnesses, but Trump said Manafort was being persecuted. Three months ago, Trump began to revoke the security clearances of former U.S. intelligence officials, complaining that they had “led” the “rigged witch hunt.” On Twitter, the president declared that Sessions should “stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now.”

Sessions failed to comply. So on Wednesday, after the midterms, Trump fired him. Again, Trump tried to disguise his own role, making the termination look like a resignation. In Sessions’ place, Trump appointed Whitaker, who is connected to targets of the investigation.

Whitaker’s assignment with respect to the Russia investigation could scarcely be more obvious. He has dismissed the idea of collusion with Russia, endorsed the Trump Tower meeting, defended Trump’s attempts to pressure Comey, protested the FBI raid on Manafort, urged Rosenstein to restrain Mueller, and declared that Trump has absolute authority to shut down the investigation. Last year, after Trump fired Comey, Whitaker said there was “no case for obstruction of justice.” Whitaker suggested that Trump could use a “recess appointment” to replace Sessions with an attorney general who would cut Mueller’s budget to the point where “his investigation grinds to almost a halt.”

Wow. I had not realized until now that Trump was a million times smarter than Hilliary. I'd thought Hilliary was just an Evil Witch, not just incredibly stupid.

With a mere casual but Honest glance, gobs of Evidence of Hilliary's Crimes including Collusion fall out of the woodwork.
But an 2 year colonoscopy by Mueller and goons has turned up Zero Evidence of this story you have spun.

That is an amazing illustration of the brilliance of Trump.

Starting in his first week as President, Trump has obstructed an investigation into Trump's campaign connections. Obama didn't. Hillary didn't obstruct, either. She actually testified several times under oath. Many, many times Trump said he would testify, but never seems to get around to answering questions under oath.

Some things were clear and many were not in such a complex, tangled investigation. There was no perfect X-ray, no tapes, no engineer’s drawing. Trump lawyer John Dowd "believed" that the president had not colluded with Russia or obstructed justice. But in the man and his presidency Dowd had seen the tragic flaw. In the political back-and-forth, the evasions, the denials, the tweeting, the obscuring, crying “Fake News,” the indignation, Trump had one overriding problem that Dowd knew but could not bring himself to say to the president: “You’re a fucking liar.”

Dowd was well paid to "believe" his client was "innocent". When a lawyer loses that belief, an ethical lawyer will resign. Funny how Dowd resigned.

If that were true then why hasn't the genius, hate-filled Trump, with a compliant and GOP controlled Congress who also hate Hillary - why haven't they been able to lock her up? They had everything they needed for 2 years and they didn’t even charge her with jay walking. If she was so guilty of so many crimes as you suggest, why is she still walking free?

Matthew Whitaker is, by any standard, a wildly unsuitable choice to serve as Attorney General of the United States, replacing Jeff Sessions.

He’s a small time crook who finished fourth in the Iowa GOP Senate primary back in 2014. He apparently got his job as Chief of Staff in the Justice Department because Trump liked his TV hits, experience that would at best qualify him to one the DOJ’s chief spokesperson not to be chief of staff and certainly not to run the Justice Department. Meanwhile, Kellyanne Conway’s husband, a prominent Washington attorney, says Whitaker’s appointment is illegal.

The question of legality would simply never arise in a normal administration. The Justice Department is full of competent, professional, Senate-confirmed officials who would be more suitable than Whitaker on both substance and procedural grounds. It’s commonplace in liberal circles to see Whitaker as an inappropriate selection in light of his previous comments about Robert Mueller’s investigation, but the truth is the Mueller issue is his only conceivable qualification for the job. Trump’s problem with the senior staff at the Justice Department is he has no way of knowing whether or not they share with Jeff Sessions and Ron Rosenstein a reluctance to fatally compromise the rule of law in pursuit of Trump's personal self-interest.

With Whitaker he’s sure, and that’s good enough for Trump.

From time to time, Trump feels impelled to install a nincompoop like Whitaker in an important job to help cover up his own corruption or Trump’s personal corruption encourages other cabinet appointees like Tom Price, Scott Pruitt, and Ryan Zinke to think less about the GOP policy agenda and more about their own personal agenda. He usually backtracks (lies) whenever he wants to cover his ass, in case anyone calls him on it. In other words, he knows he's fucked, so he tries to distract and confuse everyone by making these outrageous claims. He's definitely losing it. Poor man-baby!

Fuck him and the stupid people who follow him. He should have been briefed that placing Whitaker as AG is totally unconstitutional. So anything that he does is bogus. Trump and company are playing checkers, while Mueller is playing chess. He's at least 3 or 4 steps ahead of Trump, but the poor bastard
thinks he's the smartest man on the planet.

Somebody please put this man out of his misery.
