Trumps poll numbers suck. For at least a month now his numbers have only fluctuated a point or two. He's in serious trouble.

I feel as though his latest screwups are going to hurt him big time. His attack on Goodyear a large employer in Ohio, and his press conference concerning QAon. What a moron. Thanks Trump...

It doesn't matter. Trumpderps are incredibly stupid, and need a daddy figure to worship and hurt the people they want to see hurt. Their minds are ruled by fear and hate.

He can lie 20,000 times and has lost no support. Americans are some dumb motherfuckers, overall, and 3/4 of them have no clue at all what's going on. How many can even name their governor? Their mayor? Most don't even know. They don't know what the constitution says, or how government works.

What's really sad is that the DNC selected the worst possible candidate. Literally anyone would have been a better choice than senile Joe.

The fascists are perilously close to making this the last election we ever have, and they'll do anything to win.

Top Republican National Security Officials Say They Will Vote for Biden

Four years after 50 of the nation’s most senior Republican national security officials warned that Donald J. Trump “would be the most reckless president in American history,” they are back with a new letter, declaring his presidency worse than they had imagined and urging voters to support former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.

Trump Comes Up Empty When Pressed for Evidence of Election Fraud in Court

The Trump campaign’s 524-page response to a discovery demand turned up precisely zero instances of mail-in vote fraud.

This is far from the first time that Republicans have failed to substantiate their frequent claims that voter fraud is a persistent problem in American elections. In 2018, one of U.S.’s most prominent crusaders against voter fraud, then-Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, was asked by a district court to produce evidence that noncitizens were voting in his home state of Kansas. Kobach brought forth witnesses, but their testimony fell apart on cross examination. Judge Julie Robinson wrote in her opinion that “evidence that the voter rolls include ineligible citizens is weak. At most, 39 [non]citizens have found their way onto the Kansas voter rolls in the last 19 years.” The rare known cases of voter fraud were not the tip of the iceberg, she concluded, “there is no iceberg; only an icicle, largely created by confusion and administrative error.”

Case 2:20-cv-00966-NR Document 388-1 Filed 08/17/20 Page 50 of 61

CONCLUSION
This Court should immediately take jurisdiction of this matter. This Court should then issue an order declaring that ballots mailed by voters by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day be counted if they are otherwise valid and received by the county boards of election by November 6, 2020. This Court should further declare that: (1) county boards may establish drop-off locations for mail-in ballots; (2) Petitions have failed to establish a legal right to an injunction requiring county boards to contact voters whose ballots contain minor errors; (3) “naked ballots” must be counted; and
(4) the poll watcher residency requirement is constitutional.

Better would be to look at who in the White House owns stock in drone building companies. Their motivation to order a ridiculously large number drones strikes? More drone strikes equals more money in the bank.

General Atomics, Northrop Grumman, Textron and Boeing account for 66 percent of the $9 billion market (per year), the study found. The General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper alone accounted for more than a quarter of the market.

"General Atomics is the top vendor that owns more than a third of the Defense market at more than $4 billion," Govini said. "Northrop Grumman is a distant second with less than half of that capture. Combined, these top two vendors account for more than 50 percent of the UAS market. Textron owns 10 percent of the market, while Boeing rounds out the top four with seven percent."

The White House is also pushing a plan to spend $1.2 trillion on building shiny new nukes. More nukes equals more money in the bank, if you own the right stocks. Sadly, the White House cannot drop nukes as frequently as they can drone strikes, but Trump intends to build many-many more nukes that can't sanely be used even one time.

The End of Steve Bannon—and Maybe Trump, Too.

Bannon failed to deliver on the promises of Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, and so has the president.

Joshua Green writes:

Steve Bannon’s arrest on charges that he defrauded donors to a right-wing immigration group for $1 million marks the end of a political era—the era when a Trumpian admixture of economic populism and nativist immigration policy looked as if it could, as Bannon once put it to me, deliver the Republican Party “a hammerlock on the Electoral College.”

At the time he made this assessment, in the days after Trump’s 2016 victory, it seemed entirely plausible that Bannon, Donald Trump’s campaign chairman and future chief strategist, was right. Before Trump, the GOP had imagined its future lay in purging its racist fringe and soft-pedaling its brand of laissez-faire economics to a diversifying nation that had spurned the 2012 Republican ticket of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. The Republican Party “autopsy” conducted in 2013 after their loss warned that the GOP risked falling into oblivion if it didn’t present a more welcoming face to immigrants, minorities, and young people.

Trump, of course, egged on by Bannon, instead offered a turbocharged anti-immigrant nationalism that promised to revive working-class fortunes, a message that resonated particularly among Rust Belt voters who’d previously voted Democratic. He was certain that Republican Party leaders would recognize this. “What Reince [Priebus] and Paul Ryan realize now,” Bannon told me after the election, “is that our message was the right one and that it’s gonna deliver Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania to the Republican Party for a generation.” This was the Trump hammerlock.

Had Trump delivered on his promise and instituted the kind of working-class populism Bannon was espousing in 2016, he’d likely be in a better position than he is today. Certainly, Bannon would be. But that never happened. “There was only a plan to get elected,” says Sam Nunberg, a former Trump staffer. “There was never a plan to govern.”

But the political realignment Bannon thought was happening four years ago always depended on Trump delivering what he’d campaigned on.

Most of AOC's money was from out of state donors.

TRUMP WANTS TO STATION ARMED GUARDS AT THE 2020 POLLS

Trump has spent months now mounting a brazen assault on the integrity of the November election, sowing doubt in the democratic process with unfounded claims of fraud and scheming to keep turnout low—including, it seems, by hamstringing the United States Postal Service via his handpicked postmaster general, megadonor Louis DeJoy. Now, he’s raising fears over another potential disenfranchisement tactic: armed poll watchers.

Biden sees 5-point favorability boost after convention

The former vice president's favorability increased from 40 percent to 45 percent in a week, according to the poll. This included an increase from 79 percent to 86 percent among Democrats. Black Americans gave him the highest favorability rating of any racial group, at 69 percent. His favorability is 39 percent among whites and 52 percent among Hispanics.

The poll found President Trump's favorability around 32 percent, mostly unchanged from other recent polls, but his unfavorability increased to 60 percent. Vice President Pence had a favorability rating of 30 percent and 46 percent unfavorability.

This is why we never look at a single poll and we look at the aggregate.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/president_trump_job_app
roval-6179.html

On top of that, an ABC poll performed by Ipsos isn't even part of the aggregate. Not now, and not in any time during Trump's presidency either.

These Ipsos polls over the last 4 years routinely show Trump with over 40% approval, although if you go back a few years you can find a spot where there were a dozen or so that dipped to 38 and 39.

The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll from 8/14-8/18 shows a 42% approval rating for Trump.

ABC News somewhat regularly collaborates with Washington Post for polls, but it was explained in the Aggregate 101 thread why they are wildly inconsistent and rarely reflect the trends.

Incidentally, the ABC News/Wash Post in the aggregate from 8/12-1/15 also shows a 42% approval rating for Trump.

But let's talk about the specific poll now, since you brought it up. The one I'm sure you didn't even know you could open up and save as a PDF document.

https://www.ipsos.com/sites/default/files/ct/news/documents/2020-08/to
pline-abc-democratic-national-convention-2020.pdf

I'll break it down page by page for you.

PAGE 1:

Only 714 adults surveyed. Seriously, good luck getting an accurate representation of over 320 Million Americans with 714 people (who were specifically targeted for the skew, which we will get into later).

PAGE 2:

How much, if any, of the Democratic convention did you watch on TV or online this week:

50% of the 714 people (357) admitted to seeing not a single second of the DNC, although they all still have opinions that are counted.

21% of the 714 people (149.94) admitted to watching "very little" of it. It should be assumed they saw highlights on Cable News, getting either the "best" or "cringiest" moments depending on who their Cable News source is.

20% of the 714 people (142.8) admitted to watching "some" of it. It should also be assumed these people only saw the highlights as well, and possibly tuned in for 5 minutes here or there before getting bored and flipping to Netflix.

10% of the 714 people (71.4) admitted to watching a "great deal" of it. There is no quantification for what a "great deal" even means, so we can't even guess what the few people who claim this even actually saw.

Since 25% less people watched it in 2020 compared to 2016, it's pretty amazing they found 72 people at random that even bother to claim they watched a "great deal".

https://deadline.com/2020/08/democratic-national-convention-drops-on-f
irst-night-vs-2016-1203016713
/

Did you happen to see, hear, or read any news coverage of the Democratic convention?

31% of the 714 people (221.34) admitted not even hearing any news about it.

69% of the 714 people (492.66) answered "yes", but that tells us very little since it's just a yes/no question with no further prodding at all.

PAGE 3:

Do you approve or disapprove of what the Democrats have said and done at their convention this week?

53% Yes, 42% no.

Since it was already established that only 10% of the 714 people have any idea what they're talking about, we can assume from these numbers that the poll was highly skewed toward Democrat targets.

Keep in mind that only 10% of the 714 people polled actually watched it, and 31% didn't even know it was a thing.

At this week's convention, do you think the Democrats maintained the right balance between criticizing the Republicans and saying positive things about themselves, or do you think they spent too much time criticizing the Republicans?

45% "maintained the right balance", 51% "spent too much time criticizing"

Seems that even a poll heavily slanted in favor of Democrat voters thought it wasn't on point.

Keep in mind that only 10% of the 714 people polled actually watched it, and 31% didn't even know it was a thing.

PAGE 4: METHODOLOGY

Quote:

This poll is based on a nationally representative probability sample of 714general population adults age 18 or older with small oversamples among Black and Hispanic respondents.

Quote:

•Gender (Male, Female) by Age (18–29, 30–44, 45–59, and 60+)
•Race/Hispanic Ethnicity (WhiteNon-Hispanic, BlackNon-Hispanic, Other or 2+ RacesNon-Hispanic, Hispanic)
•Education (High School graduateor less, Some College, Bachelor and beyond)
•Census Region (Northeast, Midwest, South, West)
•Metropolitanstatus (Metro, non-Metro)
•Household Income (Under $25,000, $25,000-$49,999, $50,000-$74,999, $75,000-$99,999, $100,000-$149,999, $150,000+)
•Party ID (Democrat, Republican, Independent, Something else)
•Race/ethnicity (White/Other Non-Hispanic, Black Non-Hispanic, Hispanic) by Gender (Male, Female)

•Race/ethnicity (White/Other Non-Hispanic, Black Non-Hispanic, Hispanic) by Education (Some College or less, Bachelor and beyond)

Here, they give a bullet point breakdown of the identity politics used, although no mention at all about how it was weighted in any way other than the first comment saying they used "small" oversamples of hispanics and blacks.

Throw this poll out with the trash. Because it is trash.

They polled a bunch of dummies that only have a slightly higher grip on reality than Uncle Joey B and his demented, rotting brains.

Why Biden Needs a Landslide Just to Win
Only a lopsided show of force would overcome undelivered mail, closed polling sites and Trump’s schemes.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/22/opinion/sunday/trump-cheat-biden-20
20.html

I was reminded of that not only by her remarks at the convention but also by what many other speakers said. They didn’t urge voters merely to cast more mail-in ballots than Trump’s supporters do, merely to show up on Election Day in greater numbers, merely to deliver Joe Biden and Kamala Harris any old margin of victory.

They urged a show of force so lopsided that it would be able to overcome undelivered mail, closed polling sites, whatever schemes Trump might hatch and, on the far side of that, his insistence that any vote count that doesn’t put him on top is rigged and illegitimate.

What a chillingly cynical perspective. And what an entirely accurate one.

================

This was Michelle Obama, on the convention’s opening night: “We have got to grab our comfortable shoes, put on our masks, pack a brown-bag dinner and maybe breakfast too, because we’ve got to be willing to stand in line all night if we have to.” When’s the last time a leader urging Americans to vote included sartorial and epicurean tips? I’m guessing never. But that’s where we are.

Two nights later, Barack Obama cautioned that Trump and his enablers “are counting on your cynicism. They know they can’t win you over with their policies. So they’re hoping to make it as hard as possible for you to vote, and to convince you that your vote does not matter.”

“Do not let them take away your power,” he added. “Do not let them take away your democracy.” When have you ever heard a restrained former president accuse the current one not just of poor stewardship but of a plot to destroy the American project itself? You haven’t. Then Trump came along.

While President Donald Trump continues to attack mail-in voting, the massive political machine trying to get him reelected is working hard to assure Republican voters that mail-in ballots are safe to use this fall.

For months, the Trump Victory Fund has spread the word about how to vote by mail. Much of that effort involves combating misinformation that has come directly from the President.

Trump's own mixed message on voting by mail has disparaged it (without evidence) as unfair and at risk for widespread fraud. Earlier this month, the President even implied he was intentionally hindering the Postal Service by not providing them the funds needed to ensure a successful election because he opposed money going toward mail-in voting. Further complicating the situation are the numerous lawsuits brought by the Trump campaign and the Republican party to try limiting mail-in voting access in states across the country.

There's no fucking way in hell I'm using a mail-in ballot.

You're an idiot if you do, and you deserve to not have your vote counted.

lol. NEVER going to happen.

He won't win, let alone a landslide win.

At least 400 Electoral votes for Trump, and I'm only bringing that down from 500 because Democrats are going to do their best to cheat the election with the mail in ballots.

Trump is winning votes by executing prisoners:

It has been 17 years since previous federal executions, but because of the election, Trump has executed 3 this month and has a 4th scheduled. More execution dates are rumored to be on their way.

Although the federal execution spree is unprecedented in modern death penalty history, it is just the latest in a string of actions meant to bolster Trump’s law-and-order image. Last week Attorney General William Barr announced that the DOJ would do “whatever’s necessary” to ensure the execution of Boston marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, whose death sentence was overturned earlier this month.

Trump will do anything to get reelected.

Republicans are ferociously committed to supporting whatever it is their leader tells them to support. The problem for Republicans is that the main thing Trump has told them to support is himself. There are no detailed policy proposals, much less a coherent ideology or set of governing principles. And so speech after speech followed the same template: How was America going to stop the coronavirus? By reelecting Donald Trump. How was it going to revive its economy? By reelecting Donald Trump. How was it going to ensure domestic harmony? By reelecting Donald Trump.

The contradiction at the heart of the convention, of course, is that Donald Trump is currently president. I’m dead serious. How would reelecting Trump resolve these crises that Trump has proven unable to resolve — and has, in many cases, worsened — in office? No one even took a shot at that Rubik’s cube. Instead, the speakers awkwardly talked around the fact of Trump’s incumbency. He was presented, strangely, as both incumbent and challenger; the man who had fixed America’s problems, but also the man needed to fix an America beset by more problems than ever.

The lunacy on display at last night's Republican National Convention is what keeps frightened liberal voters satisfied with the meager crumbs of progress offered by the Democrats — and the meagerness of those crumbs is what keeps working-class whites inside an increasingly lunatic GOP.

Speaker removed from RNC program after tweeting anti-Semitic conspiracy theory

Mendoza's initial placement in the program highlights the extent to which the Trump campaign has leaned into its fringe support in the final months of the 2020 presidential campaign. Last week, President Donald Trump embraced followers of the baseless QAnon conspiracy, praising them for their support and shrugging off their outlandish conspiracies. An FBI office warned that QAnon adherents could pose a domestic terrorism threat.

Black voters are being targeted in disinformation campaigns, echoing the 2016 Russian playbook
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/08/26/race-divisions-hi
ghlighted-disinformation-2016/?utm_source=reddit.com

Four years after Russian operatives used social media in a bid to exacerbate racial divisions in the United States and suppress Black voter turnout, such tactics have spread across a wide range of deceptive online campaigns operated from numerous nations — including from within the United States itself.

The potency and persistence of the racial playbook was highlighted this week when Twitter deleted an account featuring a profile photo of a young Black man claiming to be a former Black Lives Matter protester who switched his allegiance to the Republican Party.

Trump didn't invent the term Fake News. He's just imitating Hitler. Whenever the press unmasked Hitler and exposed that he was not a messiah but a monster, Hitler called them Lügenpresse, (lying press) which is the German version of Fake News.

Trump Spewed a Volcano of Lies at the RNC. He Wasn’t Alone.

The profusion of falsehoods from Tom Cotton, Rudy Giuliani, and Ivanka Trump provided a fitting setup for the big man at the Republican National Convention.

Where to begin? If the first three nights of the Republican National Convention opened a “fire hose of false or misleading claims,” the finale spewed forth a volcano of lies.

Sen. Tom Cotton, who would like to be secretary of defense in President Donald Trump’s second term and his successor four years later, rat-a-tat-tatted a dozen points of contrast between Trump and Joe Biden — all of them baseless.

Biden “slashed defense spending,” while Trump “rebuilt our military.” In fact, President Obama, with Vice President Biden’s support, increased defense spending in each of his eight years. Trump increased it more, but it had been plenty built up.

Biden “treated Israel like a nuisance,” Cotton continued, while “Trump moved the U.S. embassy to Israel.” No examples of Biden’s hostility were cited, because there aren’t any.

Biden “coddled socialist dictators in Cuba and Venezuela,” while Trump “fights against communism.” Reopening relations with Cuba isn’t quite “coddling,” while, meanwhile, Trump has coddled — in his own words, “fell in love” with — one of the world’s last communist dictators, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and has expressed greater trust in Russian President Vladimir Putin, still a Soviet man, than in his own intelligence agencies.

“China is rooting” for Biden to win,” Cotton claimed. Not quite: U.S. intelligence agencies have said China would rather not see such an unstable president as Trump remain in office. Meanwhile, the same agencies noted that Russia would very much like to see Trump reelected — and is working for that goal.
