Oh... You don't tell a woman to smile in 2019. Didn't Brie Larson teach you that already, Mr. Cortez?

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/gynvnw/brie-larson-was-told-to-smil

(I'm close to 100% sure that Brie wasn't the artist that doctored up these photos, but I do have to admit that I laughed my ass of when I saw them.)

The Captain America one is priceless.

Oh... and having long hair shouldn't necessarily be on that list. Not all women can pull off short hair, but I do find a pixie cut or something only neck length to be quite stunning on the right woman. It does have the equal and opposite effect on the wrong woman though.

This all really shouldn't be any big deal. Both sexes, for the most part, do their best to look attractive to potential mates.

For instance, as a relatively short guy, I've always gone for shoes that have a thicker sole when they weren't for athletic activities or work. I also can't really pull off a shirt with horizontal stripes and chose those with vertical stripes since the former tends to make a man look shorter than he really is and vertical stripes can have the opposite effect.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

To me, the 4th one seems harsh.

So here is a load of non-PC POV.
Some of these have validity, although they are not completely absolute.

1. Thin seems too far. However, physical fitness can show potential for longevity, a long healthy Marriage. Lack of excessive weight supports the image of fitness. But not all physically fit are "thin."

2. Having a modicum of cooking competence does seem a good way to supply fresh foods to a family. Man or woman. No need for maestro levels to start with. Perhaps ironic that Chefs used to be male.

3. Long hair. Short hair seems to be the sign that a woman has given up, no longer making an attempt to be attractive. Too many women rely upon the most effeminate, whether gay or another girl, to substitute for the opinion of how they can appear attractive to hetero men - how incredibly stupid and self-defeating. This is further underscored with his statements to listen to MEN. Very few women look the MOST attractive with short hair compared to their most attractive longer hair style. Short hair is for grandmas and moms who have given up.

4. Make up. A modicum of highlighting cosmetics for hot dates seems reasonable, but I can't agree with full-time layers of goo for women who are already beautiful without. See: fit.

11. Love men. The Self-fulfilling prophecy of being attractive to hetero Men starts here. If the goal is to appeal to gays and lesbians, then this entire list and description are moot.

I once knew a woman who was missing 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12. No #2 beyond PB & Js. Later on my brother married her. I don't recall how many years it lasted, less than a dozen. My nephew was raised on fast food, and hates it, and looks it.

Agreed. My mom was bulimic, and smoked 4 1/2 packs a day. She would absolutely freak out if she weighed over 100 lbs. I remember when I was old enough to know what she was doing that me and my brothers would be crying outside of the bathroom in the hall while she threw up. I found out later in life after she went to a clinic for a few months that she would gorge on as much as 10,000-12,000 calories at a time before puking it all up.

After that, she became a workaholic to compensate and was absolutely miserable. When I finally moved out, we didn't speak for nearly 10 years. Then she got on bi-polar meds at some point, and after my grandpa passed away we were slowly able to mend fences. It's nice to have my mom and step dad back finally. I talk to them almost every day I don't work now and they love it. I'm the only one out of my brothers and my step dad's kids that really even talk to them now that they moved down to Arizona.

Yeah. I finally learned in my early 30's to actually cook something other than mac and cheese or frozen pizza. I still don't really enjoy doing it, but it's the only way you're going to eat healthy when you're living alone. No girl I ever dated knew how to cook any more than I did.

Like I said before, I don't necessarily agree with this one. For the most part, I think you're right, and I do know some women who have gotten married and chopped it all off along with gaining a lot of weight and it looks terrible on them. I also know women who stay fit and take care of themselves with short hair and I find it very attractive. I don't really care much for super short hair on a woman, but a pixie cut or a cute neck length on a woman who is healthy can look great.

Agreed. I was never into a heavy makeup look. If the shades are done well to make it look natural it's great, but a bunch of dark stuff that borders on clown like, I think, is a huge turn off.

Well... Women could not care much for men in general and still look attractive and be healthy, but if they don't love men and they're not lesbians it's probably stemming from some sort of narcissism. I dated a lot of really attractive women back in the day, and aside from a few of them, they were a pretty crazy lot. I've never been Mr. Sanity myself though, so I'll just blame that one on myself and say that I certainly had a "type".

2. Cooking can be a lifetime of learning for some of us shlubs. But not having any interest in learning from the start, maybe learn to like cat food.

3. Not sure if he was talking about the butch. But many factors require short hair - work, sport. It's a trade-off, for when attracting a mate is no longer the priority. For background, I did spend a decade with hair down past my butt. More than Adonis, like a monster mullet.

4. I used to think the raccoon look was from confusing the need for dark nightclub makeup for daylight palette. But with trends such as underwear worn as outerwear ala Madonna, subtlety has become a lost art.

I know it was a joke, but it would probably actually be healthier for you than the alternative, which is to eat a lot of fast food and microwave dinners.

For years I had heard people whine about how expensive it was to eat healthy. It was a lie that I had bought into and that many people still believe today. It's not true... unless you add laziness into the equation. It's actually quite cheap to eat healthy if you put some effort into it and maintain some self control. If somebody is going to make excuses that life is too hard and there aren't enough hours in the day and the fast food joint down the road is just so cheap and easy, I can't help them.

That's kind of funny to imagine. You certainly don't come off as the type that would have rocked the long hair or a mullet. I used to have hair down to the middle of my back myself until my mid 20's.

I still maintain that short hair on women could be attractive, but if they're just doing it "because it's easier" than that's probably not going to be the case.

I still have a reflexive head move when I sit. The sort of thing you learn when you've spend a decade sitting on the end of your hair (mine always stayed behind my shoulders).

I have read those mags. Which is how I know the manure women absorb when they choose to get advice from gays and jealous women who have no clue what non-metrosexual men are looking for. Most of those advice columns are the opposite of the truth.

Perhaps an item from this list I don't endorse is #9, fashionable. Depending upon interpretation.

Possibly due to my nudist leanings, where hardcore nudists find all clothing objectionable.
Following every silly fashion fad? I disagree with that. But for clothing-disposed, having some clothes which are flattering to the appearance is a reasonable interpretation of this. Although not always functional. There is a reason for the term mom-jeans.
I've known some women who practically live in bib overalls, so they are likely a target of this item.

Unhealthy eating also adds lethargy, which then snowballs toward fewer hours in the day, and laziness. As I recall, some decent exercise and food contribute towards more useful hours of the day, not less. Fast food creates a downward spiral.
This is the reason cooking is a logical topic to learn, unless you have servants.

Yeah... I really couldn't care less about that myself. Also, I think it's rather hypocritical if I did.

I'm a t-shirt and jeans guy. It's nice to occasionally go out in a nice suit to a wedding, but it's just too much work. I looked like a fat slob in a t-shirt and jeans when I was a fat slob drunk loser. It looks good on me now though.

All my clothes are from Goodwill and have been for years. If I gave a shit about "fashion", I could easily spend on a single "designer" t-shirt and pair of jeans what I've paid for my entire wardrobe for the last 5 years.

Fashion is a scam.

True. I lived it. I had all the time in the world and did nothing with it except for binge watching Netflix and eating like crap in between binge drinking sessions. 3 or 4 years of my prime up in a puff of smoke with nothing but a few hazy memories of the time. I probably couldn't even quote one line of thousands of hours of Netflix I watched in that time.

When every day of your life is "Groundhog Day" and you do absolutely nothing to make you feel proud of yourself, time just slips away from you and you never feel like there are enough hours in the day.

My uniform is black T-shirts. I likely have hundreds of them. Black 100% cotton pocket Ts. Non-work is athletic shorts with pockets, work is Jean shorts or jeans, unless more is needed. Jeans are from St Vincent's, or if I want to pay 2-3 times the price, Goodwill. The Ts are almost all Fruit of the Loom.

You might...

Sounds like you have a lot more clothes than I do though. I'm still wearing 10 shirts that I have had for 10 or 20 years. They're vintage now.

My job is really rough on them though. I wear the ones I don't really care for there. Once they start getting holes that you can see skin through, they become work at home shirts.

Same thing with jeans. I've lost 6 inches on my waist, but I still wear the 36" jeans sinched up with a belt because I find them very comfortable and easy to move around in while doing all that work, and I can fit a ton of stuff I need in my pockets along with my smokes and lighter. Once they get holes in them, they become work at home jeans.

Once they really start taking a beating, they become my painting gear.

I've been getting really lucky at the new Goodwill by me recently though. Found some brand new Levis, and another pair that wasn't brand new in the last month that only cost me $9 and $7. Got about 10 shirts for only $20 bucks. Half of those I really like the design and are now "going out" shirts for me. The other half will last me another year or so at work.

Also got a brand new belt for $2.

I draw the line at new undies and socks though. lol.

It just sucks how expensive those are these days. More than half of my clothes budget the last 5 years have been for boxers and socks.

Do Right, Be Right. :)
