That I am going to miss the huge turds dropped by Trump on TV. This happened today:
Quote:

You know, if you read my book — there was a book just before the World Trade Center came down. And I don’t get any credit for this, but that’s okay. I never do. But here we are. I wrote a book — a, really, very successful book. And in that book, about a year before the World Trade Center was blown up, I said, “There is somebody named Osama bin Laden. You better kill him or take him out.” Something to that effect. ”He’s big trouble.”

...

Nobody ever heard of. I mean, al-Baghdadi everybody hears because he’s built this monster for a long time. But nobody ever heard of Osama bin Laden until, really, the World Trade Center. But about a year — you’ll have to check — a year, year and a half before the World Trade Center came down, the book came out. I was talking about Osama bin Laden. I said, “You have to kill him. You have to take him out.” Nobody listened to me.

And to this day, I get people coming up to me, and they said, “You know what one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen about you? Is that you predicted that Osama bin Laden had to be killed before he knocked down the World Trade Center.” It’s true. Now, most of the press doesn’t want to write that, but you know — but it is true. If you go back, look at my book. I think it was “The America We Deserve.” I made a prediction, and I — let’s put it this way: If they would have listened to me, a lot of things would have been different.

How can Trump be impeached after that remark? We need Presidents like him. (By the way, not a word Trump said was true. It is all make-believe. He pooped this story out in front of the World.)

Waiting for Bolton: A Capital Speculates on What He Will Say

“According to the testimony given to Congress so far, Bolton was a central figure in trying to prevent any delay in releasing foreign aid to Ukraine,” said John Yoo, a University of Berkeley law school professor and senior Justice Department official under President George W. Bush. “I cannot see how any responsible investigation would not seek Bolton’s appearance.”

ISIS Leader Is Dead, According to Trump. I notice with amusement that newspaper headlines are all couching the operation in “Trump says” terms, as if they aren’t quite willing to accept it as unvarnished truth until they have more than just the president’s word. If you watch the video, the parts not scripted by speechwriters but pulled out of Trump's fat ass, you will notice that Trump improvises very freely. In fact, nothing he says, other than what is on the teleprompter, is believable. Why would anyone impeach such a gifted entertainer?

Start at 45 minutes. No other President has, or could, give such a news conference. Impeachment should be completely ruled out after today's performance by Trump.

Just compare Trump's announcement with Obama's. Trump's deserves an Emmy or a Golden Globe award. Obama just isn't entertaining.

Your robot origin is showing. I read this lovely quote. It made me think of the brainpower of Trump and all the Trump lovers I know: Without Darwin’s unlimited funds, Wallace had to live in a relatively simple way. This meant sharing accommodations with the native people he encountered. Wallace was impressed by the way natives obviously underutilized their potential brainpower. Although he was sure that native people could be as intellectually developed as Europeans, in reality, this rarely happened. As Wallace pointed out, it seemed that for many years humans had a huge amount of unused brain capacity. This could hardly have been brought about by natural selection because having a brain is clearly biologically costly. Proto-humans could not have afforded such a luxury, at least not on naturalistic grounds. There had to be a reason. Wallace’s conclusion was that spirit forces prepared the brain’s early form, which waited to be used when European civilization got underway.

To Trump and the Trump lovers: Like the natives that Alfred Russel Wallace (1823-1913) encountered, you don't need to use most of your brains because you live in the greatest and easiest country on Earth, but do yourself and America a favor by trying harder to live up to your full human potential in the 21st Century.

And yanno, quoting the still relevant parts of my posts is just a timesaver while I do more interesting things, like make stew.

BTW, have you figured out yet why every single one of your posts is a lie?

ETA: I've also been belatedly listening to the 4th democratic debate while cooking and doing some light yardwork, but the debate is kind of a chore.

I'm making 12 servings of pork and bean stew. So I butchered, trimmed out and cut up a couple of pork shoulders and plain-cooked them yesterday low and slow till moist and tender. I have two different kinds of beans I just cooked up (navy and great northern) with herbs and onions, and I'm about to add some pureed tomatoes and some pigs feet broth that I made up earlier and froze. It'll make the stew that much tastier. I could add 1.5C or 3C of the broth. For 12 servings, what do you think?

Can't give you any advise there, Kiki. I know how to cook about 10 different things that aren't processed and about 7 of them are not part of my diet today.

Sounds amazing though. I sure do miss some good home cooked meals by somebody who knows what they're doing.

The only way I don't go nuts eating the same thing everyday is because of spices. In Jacks world, spices are the variety of life.

Is Trump too stupid to be impeached? What he said about Syrian oil on Sunday:

“What I intend to do, perhaps, is make a deal with an ExxonMobil or one of our great companies to go in there and do it properly ... and spread out the wealth,” Trump said during a news conference about the U.S. special forces operation that led to the death of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Exxon Mobil Corp and Chevron Corp, the two largest U.S. oil companies operating in the Middle East, declined to comment on his remarks. They knew Trump was running his mouth without engaging his brain.

“International law seeks to protect against exactly this sort of exploitation,” said Laurie Blank, an Emory Law School professor and director of its Center for International and Comparative Law. The professor knew Trump is stupid.

“It is not only a dubious legal move, it sends a message to the whole region and the world that America wants to steal the oil,” said Bruce Riedel, a former national security advisor and now senior fellow at the Brookings Institution think-tank. The advisor knew Trump is stupid.

“The idea that the United States would ‘keep the oil’ in the hands of ExxonMobil or some other U.S. company is immoral and possibly illegal,” said Jeff Colgan, an associate professor of political science and international studies at Brown University. The professor knew Trump was immoral and stupid. But that is no reason to impeach Trump -- if you are a Trump lover.

I used to love hot sauce and I'd put it on everything, but it's got way too much salt though. I've been hearing studies that are breaking the link between high sodium intake and high blood pressure, but I've always run high and a lot of my family is on blood pressure meds, even those that aren't overweight. No sense in rolling the dice there.

I liked mustard and ketchup on burgers and hotdogs back when I ate bread, but these days I just eat the meat. I usually throw the meat in with a big bowl of brown rice and vegetables and season it all. Spices are great.

Trump Wants Impeachment Defense Based on Substance, Not Process

President Trump said he has encouraged his Republican allies to defend him on the substance of the impeachment probe, instead of focusing on criticizing the process, ahead of another week of scheduled testimony from administration officials.

Doesn’t Trump realize that the reason his allies are whining about process is because they have no defense to offer on substance? Maybe not. Maybe Trump is so delusional he actually believes that there’s some substantive defense of extorting a foreign country to smear a political rival.

Luckily for him, the rest of the Republican Party is smarter. They’ll stick to carping about the unfairness of the hearings and, in a pinch, claiming that Trump’s extortion of Ukraine is just a minor slap-on-the-wrist kind of thing, certainly nowhere near an impeachable offense.

How long will this work? Forever, if the Republican Party is shameless. We’ll see if it is.

Did you ever hear of the My Lai Massacre? www.history.com/topics/vietnam-war/my-lai-massacre-1

500 murdered. Only one guy convicted, after a Republican party orchestrated cover-up, but very soon the one guy was paroled. Republican politicians and, especially Republican voters, expressed their extreme disapproval of the Democrats for even looking into these 500 blatantly obvious murders.

Now the GOP is protecting Trump like it protected the guilty at My Lai. Trump has not machine-gunned women and children before witnesses, and there are no photos of what Trump did, so the shameless Republicans will pretend there is nothing to discuss and that everything is the fault of Democrats.

Later investigations have revealed that the slaughter at My Lai was not an isolated incident. There were many more, but nobody was punished. The GOP made sure of that.

You can't just say something is true, put a clock on it with no end and say that it's the truth just because it hasn't happened yet.

Nothing has moved forward. Pelosi said a month ago before they took their two week recess that she was going to do this. They still haven't even done that.

They still haven't even voted on whether or not they're going to do an investigation.

WTF is taking so long? Impeach him already so he can be guaranteed re-election in 2020.

And yet, My Lai happened March 16, 1968 and Lyndon Johnson was president.

What is far more interesting is the extreme maneuvers Nixon and Ford took to prevent fair trials. That massacre was followed by Nixon's secret bombing of Cambodia/Laos and many other massacres, none of which went anywhere near a trial. Once the trial was over, Nixon placed the one convicted murderer into the nicest possible living quarters because Republican voters insisted. President Ford then paroled the murderer because Republican voters insisted. Republican voters will insist Trump not go to trial. If convicted, Republican voters will insist upon the lightest imaginable punishment.

Trump must remove his thumb from the scale of military justice

Officials who have watched Trump’s vigorous backing of former Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher — an officer charged with shooting civilians and murdering a captured Islamic State fighter — thought twice about plans to punish him for misconduct revealed during his court-martial, including rampant drug use and theft.

Given Trump’s vocal championing of Gallagher, who was subsequently acquitted of murder but found guilty and demoted over a lesser charge, Navy leaders are afraid the SEAL chief is untouchable. Trump had already spoken of pardoning him and ordered the withdrawal of military awards for the Navy attorneys who led the unsuccessful prosecution.

This goes beyond unlawful command influence and brings up another military term the president ignores at our peril: command responsibility.

The President is responsible for ensuring that troops follow the law of armed conflict, as well as holding them accountable if they don’t. This is essential for high morale and upholding the honor of military service.

Our military supremacy doesn’t simply depend on us having the most firepower, it comes from us taking our values into battle. This is lost on President Trump, who seems to reduce war to its most basic element of one side killing another — of carnage with no regard for morality.

Trump goes on Twitter tear after White House official condemns his Ukraine call

The flurry of activity on the president’s social media feed came hours before Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a National Security Council official overseeing Ukraine policy, is expected to tell investigators on Capitol Hill that Trump undermined U.S. national security when he pressured Ukraine’s president during a July phone call to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son.

“Why are people that I never even heard of testifying about the call,” Trump tweeted. “Just READ THE CALL TRANSCRIPT AND THE IMPEACHMENT HOAX IS OVER! Ukrain said NO PRESSURE.”

This is a real question, and it's an important one.
WHAT HAPPENED?

You were breathing flames over "collusion" and "kompromat" that you were SO SURE existed. Did real-time hostile spying on the Trump campaign fail to turn up solid, legally-admissible, court-worthy evidence? Or was it Mueller's hostile after-the-fact investigations that went horribly awry? Was the media biased against you? Did Trump destroy evidence? Does he have too many powerful Republican friends who had influence over the spying and/orthe investigations? What should have been done that was left undone?

Whatever happened to all of the testimony against Kavanaugh? Was it time-pressure derailed any follow-up investigation Did anyone follow up on the testimony to see if more evidence of wrongdoing was found after-the-fact?

Or were the original premises WRONG, on the basis of all of the evidence that could be gathered? Were the accusations fundamentally baseless... and the press fundametnally dishonest ... or perhaps mis-directed? Instead of accusing Trump of "collusion" with Russians, for example, might it have been more realistic to accuse Trump of simply being unfit for the job? Or more honest to say that you disagreed with his policies?

Seriously, this was a learning opportunity that should have been too good to pass up. it would be a shame if you did't learn anything from it.

Seriously, this was a learning opportunity that should have been too good to pass up. it would be a shame if you did't learn anything from it.

For Kavanaugh, we know exactly what happened: On October 5, the Senate voted 51–49 for cloture; a procedural vote that brought debate to end and allowed the Senate to move forward on the Kavanaugh nomination. The vote was almost entirely along party lines, with the exception of Democrat Joe Manchin, who voted yes, and Republican Lisa Murkowski, who voted no. Manchin voted with the Republicans because he is from W Virginia -- his vote was about election politics. Murkowski voted with the Democrats because she is woman. What happened to Kavanaugh? It turned out that he is just another liar with a lifetime appointment, which is extremely unsurprising: https://qz.com/1740845/

Yes, but what about the TESTIMONY? Did any of you ever follow it up to see what survived and what didn't? What about the time that Kavanugh got drunk in law school, and supposedly waggled his dick? Was anyone able to corroborate that?

I'm asking this question (What did you learn?) in the hopes that it will spark you to ... er ... LEARN! From experience! It would be a shame to have gone thru all of this sturm und drang* ("storm and drive": high emotion and drama) ... all of this anxiety and anger ... without having learned anything.

So, the Mueller investigation and the Kavanaugh hearings didn't work out as you hoped. In fact, neither did the 2016 election.

Why?

Were your hopes placed on unrealistic expectations? Were your fears set alight by unfounded rumors? Did the media fail to keep you properly informed? Did you, yourself, fail in your due-diligence to suss out fact from hype? Did you KNOW that you were being unrealistic but were you hoping that the election/ investigations/ hearings would have their desired effect anyway, simply because you hate Trump for unrelated reasons, and did you fail to listen to that little voice of reason? How do you explain to yourself the disconnect between hope and result?

Dig into memory and try to understand why your fervently-desired results (and nightmare fears) failed to materialize, so that next time you won't be so far off the mark.

Pelosi Sets a High Bar for Impeachment Inquiry: ‘Ironclad’ Proof

The details in the rough White House account of Trump’s phone call with Zelenskiy gave a much clearer picture, she said.

“And of course, it changed everything in the public mind,” she said. The day she announced the House would be launching an impeachment inquiry — Sept. 24 — she said polls showed much of public was against impeachment.

“This morning’s poll has it 49 to 47 impeach — and remove,” she said, referring to an ABC/Washington Post survey released Friday.

Several polls in the past month have shown a swing toward public support for an inquiry, if not actual impeachment. But it is mostly driven by Democrats and independents. The overwhelming majority of Republicans continue to back Trump. Still, the ABC/Post poll showed broader backing for impeaching Trump than there was for impeaching then-President Bill Clinton in 1998.

I just spoke with a representative of a US Senator running for president. I suggested that if the republicans vote not to impeach Trump, it may have to go to the courts.

Why, because what Trump did is specifically mentioned in the constitution as being against the law. And if the evidence of Trumps guilt is overwhelming, then by virtue of their vote the Senate would be changing the constitution. For that you need a two thirds majority.

This would also apply to violations of the emolument's clause. Haven't thought about this long enough to see if it applies elsewhere but it may be the way forward.

This legal scheme won't work. If the Senate votes not guilty, then the House of Representatives appeals to the Supreme Court and it decides Trump is guilty, it will be the Senate, once again, that would vote to remove Trump. BUT THE SENATORS WON'T, even if given a second chance to change their minds. Nobody in the Senate will change their previous decision, except if the voters in their state make it clear by, perhaps, voting them out of office. If voters would get rid of a Senator because he won't remove Trump, it is more likely the voters in that state directly remove Trump in the 2020 election.
