Thank the godz, the old and the new. I think our stock - the USA - just went up in the rest of the world as well (except Russia!).

I really don't care if this goes the way Clinton's did, and he stays in office and Reps win more seats and he wins another 4 years. Nothing grinds my gears like people (Dems) who convince themselves to sit on their hands and do nothing.

Having said that I'd be happy to see him self emulate on national tv.

Pelosi to announce formal impeachment inquiry of Trump
The announcement later today from Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) comes amid reports that President Trump may have pressured a foreign leader to investigate former vice president and potential 2020 campaign rival Joe Biden and his family.

Well, Nancy Pelosi has given us our formal impeachment inquiry. And the Senate has voted unanimously to ask the Director of National Intelligence to hand over the whistleblower complaint. The official response from Donald Trump is “PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!” The official response from the Trumpbot crowd is that Hunter Biden is the real scandal. The official response from the more-in-sorrow-than-in-anger crowd is that we’d all be taking this a lot more seriously if Democrats hadn’t been so mean to Trump all along.

On a side note, this should make it easier for Congress to subpoena Trump’s tax returns, shouldn’t it? The Treasury Department has been arguing that Congress doesn’t really have any legislative purpose behind the request, but an impeachment inquiry is unquestionably a legislative purpose. It’s hard to see how they can hold out much longer, or how a court could rule in their favor.

What will Trump's overdue tax bill eventually be? $5 million? $5 billion? He will have some explaining to do.

This is what I am hoping. So much of his actions can and are being rationalized out to his base as "taking a stand" because they don't understand the implications of the things he's doing. Numbers don't lie. You can only whitewash them for so long until something somewhere doesn't add up. Numbers are hard facts.

Holy shit [COMMA NEEDED] what a grammatical cluster fuck of a sentence [EXCLAMATION MARK NEEDED, AS THE SENTENCE BEGINS WITH AN EXCLAMATION].

"I won't even get started on that" would mean that you did not get started on that when you already have in the previous sentence. Especially when Sig already pointed out the mistake you are just jumping on the bandwagon in a seriously pathetic attempt to look smart, or just to run down CC. That is not necessary, as we are not under any delusions that you HAVE intelligence.

Everyone makes grammatical errors, but jumping all over other people's mistakes only serves to show how insecure and desperate for approval you are.

lol. Nah. My sentence was fine. Fuck punctuation.

Captain not only misused emulate, to hilarious effect, but used "him self" for himself, when himself didn't even fit in that sentence in the first place. It looked like a fucking kindergartner wrote that.

It's important to point these things out, because these supposedly college educated smart people who vote Democrat frequently are the ones who can't string a sentence together. T does writes garbage sentences like this all the time too.

However, it's very clear that BIDEN bragged that he got the Ukrainian government to fire it's chief prosecutor (who was investigating his son). transcript of call

MEMORANDUM OF TELEPHONE CONVERSATION

SUBJECT: Telephone Conversation with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine

PARTICIPANTS: President Zelenskyy of Ukraine

Notetakers: The White House Situation·Room

DATE, TIME July 25, 2019, 9:03 - 9:33 a.m. EDT
AND PLACE: Residence

The President: Congratulations on a great victory. We all watched from the United States and you did a terrific job. The way you came from behind, somebody who wasn't given much of a chance, and you ended up winning easily. It's a fantastic achievement. Congratulations.

President Zelenskyy: You are absolutely right Mr. President. We did win big and we worked hard for this. We worked a lot but I would like to confess to you that I had an opportunity to learn from you. We used quite a few of your skills and knowledge and were able to use it as an example for our elections and yes it is true that these were unique elections. We were in a unique situation that we were able to achieve a unique success. I'm able to tell you the following; the first time, you called me to congratulate me when I won my presidential election, and the second time you are now calling me when my party won the parliamentary election. I think I should run more often so you can call me more often and we can talk over the phone more often.

The President: [laughter] That's a very good idea. I think your country is very happy about that.

President Zelenskyy: Well yes, to tell you the truth, we are trying to work hard because we wanted to drain the swamp here in our country. We brought in many many new people. Not the old politicians, not the typical politicians, because we want to have a new format and a new type of government. You are a great teacher for us and in that.

The President: Well it's very nice of you to say that. I will say that we do a lot for Ukraine. We spend a lot of effort and a lot of time. Much more than the European countries are doing and they should be helping you more than they are. Germany does almost nothing for you. All they do is talk and I think it's something that you should really ask them about. When I was speaking to Angela Merkel she talks Ukraine, but she doesn't do anything. A lot of the European countries are the same way so I think it's something you want to look at but the United States has been very very good to Ukraine. I wouldn't say that it's reciprocal necessarily because things are happening that are not good but the United States has been very very good to Ukraine.

President Zelenskyy: Yes you are absolutely right. Not only 100%, but actually 100% and I can tell you the following; I did talk to Angela Merkel and I did meet with her. I also met and talked with Macron and I told them that they are not doing quite as much as they need to be doing on the issues with the sanctions. They are not enforcing the sanctions. They are not working as much as they should work for Ukraine. It turns out that even though logically, the European Union should be our biggest partner but technically the United States is a much bigger partner than the European Union and I'm very grateful to you for that because the United States is doing quite a lot for Ukraine. Much more than the European Union, especially when we are talking about sanctions against the Russian Federation. I would also like to thank you for your great support in the area of defense. We are ready to continue to cooperate for the next steps specifically we are almost ready to buy more Javelins from the United States for defense purposes.

The President: I would like you to do us a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it. I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation with Ukraine, they say Crowdstrike... I guess you have one of your wealthy people... The server, they say Ukraine has it. There are a lot of things that went on, the whole situation. I think you're surrounding yourself with some of the same people. I would like to have the Attorney General call you or your people and I would like you to get to the bottom of it. As you saw yesterday, that whole nonsense ended with a very poor performance by a man named Robert Mueller, an incompetent performance, but they say a lot of it started with Ukraine. Whatever you can do, it's very important that you do it, if that's possible.

President Zelenskyy: Yes it is very important for me and everything that you just mentioned earlier. For me as a President, is very important and we are open for any future cooperation. We are ready to open a new page on cooperation in relations between the United States and Ukraine. For that purpose, I just recalled our ambassador from United States and he will be replaced by a very competent and very experienced ambassador who will work hard on making sure that our two nations are getting closer. I would also like and hope to see him having your trust and your confidence and have personal relations with you so we can cooperate even more. I will personally tell you that one of my assistants spoke with Mr. Giuliani just recently and we are hoping very much that Mr. Giuliani will be able to travel to Ukraine and we will meet once he comes to Ukraine. I just wanted to assure you once again that you have nobody but friends around us. I will make sure that I surround myself with the best and most experienced people. I also wanted to tell you that we are friends. We are great friends and you Mr. President have friends in our country so we can continue our strategic partnership. I also plan to surround myself with great people and in addition to that investigation, I guarantee as the President of Ukraine that all the investigations will be done openly and candidly. That I can assure you.

The President: Good because I heard you had a prosecutor who was very good and he was shut down and that's really unfair. A lot of people are talking about that, the way they shut your very good prosecutor down and you had some very bad people involved. Mr. Giuliani is a highly respected man. He was the mayor of New York City, a great mayor, and I would like him to call you. I will ask him to call you along with the Attorney General. Rudy very much knows what's happening and he is a very capable guy. If you could speak to him that would be great. The former ambassador from the United States, the woman, was bad news and the people she was dealing with in the Ukraine were bad news so I just want to let you know that. The other thing, there's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it... It sounds horrible to me.

President Zelenskyy: I wanted to tell you about the prosecutor. First of all, I understand and I'm knowledgeable about the situation. Since we have won the absolute majority in our Parliament, the next prosecutor general will be 100% my person, my candidate, who will be approved by the parliament and will start as a new prosecutor in September. He or she will look into the situation, specifically to the company that you mentioned in this issue. The issue of the investigation of the case is actually the issue of making sure to restore the honesty so we will take care of that and will work on the investigation of the case. On top of that, I would kindly ask you if you have any additional information that you can provide to us, it would be very helpful for the investigation to make sure that we administer justice in our country with regard to the Ambassador to the United States from Ukraine as far as I recall her name was Ivanovich. It was great that you were the first one who told me that she was a bad ambassador because I agree with you 100%. Her attitude towards me was far from the best as she admired the previous President and she was on his side. She would not accept me as a new President well enough.

The President: Well, she's going to go through some things. I will have Mr. Giuliani give you a call and I am also going to have Attorney General Barr call and we will get to the bottom of it. I'm sure you will figure it out. I heard the prosecutor was treated very badly and he was a very fair prosecutor so good luck with everything. Your economy is going to get better and better I predict. You have a lot of assets. It's a great country. I have many Ukrainian friends, their [sic] incredible people.

President Zelenskyy: I would like to tell you that I also have quite a few Ukrainian friends that live in the United States. Actually last time I traveled to the United States, I stayed in New York near Central Park and I stayed at the Trump Tower. I will talk to them and I hope to see them again in the future. I also wanted to thank you for your invitation to visit the United States, specifically Washington, DC. On the other hand, I also want to ensure you that we will be very serious about the case and will work on the investigation. As to the economy, there is much potential for our two countries and one of the issues that is very important for Ukraine is energy independence. I believe we can be very successful and cooperating on energy independence with United States. We are already working on cooperation. We are buying American oil but I am very hopeful for a future meeting. We will have more time and more opportunities to discuss these opportunities and get to know each other better. I would like to thank you very much for your support.

The President: Good. Well, thank you very much and I appreciate that. I will tell Rudy and Attorney General Barr to call. Thank you. Whenever you would like to come to the White House, feel free to call. Give us a date and we'll work that out. I look forward to seeing you.

President Zelenskyy: Thank you very much. I would be very happy to come and would be happy to meet with you personally and get to know you better. I am looking forward to our meeting and I would also like to invite you to visit Ukraine and come to the city of Kyiv which is a beautiful city. We have a beautiful country which would welcome you. On the other hand, I believe that on September 1 we will be in Poland and we can meet in Poland hopefully. After that, it might be a very good idea for you to travel to Ukraine. We can either take my plane and go to Ukraine or we can take your plane, which is probably much better than mine.

The President: Okay, we can work that out. I look forward to seeing you in Washington and maybe in Poland because I think we are going to be there at that time.

President Zelenskyy: Thank you very much Mr. President.

The President: Congratulations on a fantastic job you've done. The whole world was watching. I'm not sure it was so much of an upset but congratulations.

President Zelenskyy: Thank you Mr. President bye-bye.

DumbAss6 you really should do a youtube channel:

"Holy shit what a grammatical cluster fuck of a sentence."
"My sentence was fine. Fuck punctuation."

Really, ^that is comedy gold. It's as if you meant to make yourself look really stupid.

Then you go one to make yourself looking even worse:
"Captain not only misused emulate, to hilarious effect, but used "him self" for himself, when himself didn't even fit in that sentence in the first place."

You are right and wrong as only you can be. I misspelled immolate, but "him self" was not supposed to be himself as you said. It was as T suggested, self-immolation. Totally my bad though. I left out scraps too easy for you and SIGNY to ignore, like waving glitter in front of children, they just can't resist.

But wait! There's more! Your ability to make yourself look like a complete stooge is unrivaled on this forum. Witness your follow-up as you try and put T's grammar down:
Six: "T does writes garbage sentences [clank!] like this all the time too."

"does writes" ????

Talk about a train wreck of a sentence.

Wish had the last and best word. Sig makes so many spelling mistakes lately it's a wonder if her meds need to be upped. And as you have proven many times, we all make grammar and spelling mistakes. If you stoop to point them out it's because you have nothing worth saying, or are a just complete @sshole.

Maybe it's the Trump setting-himself-on-fire thing that's got you all flustered? Or did you hurt yourself at work again?

I'm doing great on the work I need to do.

You're the one has not evolved in 3 years and continues to blame all of his problems on Trump.

And by "fuck punctuation" I meant to tell Wishy to fuck her comma. She was wrong, but I'm not getting into an English lesson with her. She couldn't be bothered to learn how to write in grade school. I'm not doing the work for free.

Your sentence was stupid, to the point of being entirely unreadable. You misused himself, no matter which way you spin it. You're so far on the spectrum it's hard to even have a legitimate conversation with you.

The funny thing is he's talking about a Ukrainian prosecutor that was Putin's guy. One that many in the US wanted to get rid of. Lots of people are talking about that.

But even funnier is as Zelensky wastes no time letting Trump know they're going to jettison Putin's puppet:

President Zelensky: "I wanted to tell you about the prosecutor. First of all, I understand and I'm knowledgeable about the situation. Since we have won the absolute majority in our Parliament, the next prosecutor general will be 100% my person, my candidate, who will be approved by the parliament and will start as a new prosecutor in September."

My phone doesn't copy urls but feel free to look it up.

Like I said, I think Trump sprung a trap.

And what makes me think this was all a trap was Trump waffling Maybe I did, maybe I didn't, but if I did it would be OK, leaders talk all the time about all kinds of things ... it was almost as if he was DARING the House to impeach him.

And don't forget, there are still a few more Horowitz reports to come out. Supposedly Horowitz and Barr are going over them right now. If there are major indictments in there and if I were Trump I would dribblethem out over the course of whatever impeachment proceedings were going on. That would serve as a major distraction.

As for my typos, many times I'm on the tablet or phone and not using my glasses and not being a touch typist/ stupid autofill typos get past me.

OF COURSE the Ukrainian Prez is going to say he wasn't forced because he got the money. It's exactly like when Trump met with Comey and tried to coerce Comey into not charging Flynn. He doesn't do it outright, he does it through insinuation.

"The day after the money was finally released, Senate Republicans said it had been held while the White House assessed whether the newly elected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was aligned with the US and NATO or with Russia. That reasoning is particularly odd given the money was meant to be used to bolster Ukraine’s military in its current war against Russia"

I don't know much about Biden or his son or their activities, and if he wasn't running for Prez I wouldn't want to. Like I said, the guy creeps me out.
However, it appears that he was JUST bragging. And he was bragging about having someone who was HINDERING an anti-corruption probe removed. They WANTED the investigation and Shokin was trying to STOP IT.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/9/24/20881505/donald-trum
p-withhold-aid-ukraine-timeline-whistleblower

At the time, Hunter Biden was on the board of a company, Burisma, whose owner was under investigation for corruption and money laundering. Shokin was believed to be hindering that investigation and anti-corruption investigation in Ukraine more broadly. This was frustrating the Ukrainian executive branch, the US, international finance officials, and some NATO allies — all of which had stakes in a corruption-free Ukraine, given the civil and military aid some were funneling to the country to help it fend off Russian aggression.

So in 2016, Biden told the Ukrainian government that their loan guarantees would be cut off unless they removed Shokin. He told the story at a session at the Council on Foreign Relations in 2018.

“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours,” Biden said. “I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’”

The former vice president said after the threat, “Well, son of a bitch, he got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time.”

But though Biden may have taken credit for it, this was hardly his unique idea. “Everyone in the Western community wanted Shokin sacked,” Anders Aslund, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, told the Wall Street Journal. “The whole G7, the IMF, the EBRD, everybody was united that Shokin must go, and the spokesman for this was Joe Biden.”

So despite his boast last year, Biden seem to have played a very minor role in Shokin’s firing. Within the Obama administration, the idea to remove him came from the US’s embassy in Ukraine, and the sentiment the prosecutor was hindering anti-corruption efforts was shared by the US’s partners and Ukrainian citizens.

Nevertheless, Trump maintains Biden personally had Shokin fired in order to protect Hunter from criminal liability. This does not make a lot of sense considering the removal of Shokin had the potential to hurt Hunter, given the US hoped to replace the prosecutor with someone more fully committed to pursuing an anti-corruption agenda.

p-withhold-aid-ukraine-timeline-whistleblower

Apparently, we might hear more in the morning...

The whistleblower who accused Trump of trying to coerce the Ukraine into investigating Joe Biden also raised concerns over the how the White House handled records of the conversation, sources say. The anonymous intelligence officer filed the complaint with the intelligence community inspector last month, claiming that Trump threatened to withhold US military aid unless Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky (top left with Trump)agreed to dig up damaging material about ties Biden and his son Hunter (right) had to the country.

If true, it's a felony. And since we already had this discussion after Hillary and Russia, he KNOWINGLY committed a felony this time.

In March/April 2014 the British freeze Zlochevsky's (Burisma's owner) accounts and launch an anti-corruption investigation.

During the British investigation, nothing (apparently) happens on the Ukraine side between and March/April 2014 and February 2015 (approximately 12 months), at which point Shokin becomes Ukraine's attorney general.

Some time between February 2015 and March/April 2015 (days minimum to 3 months maximum under Shokin's direction) Britain drops its case.

In March 2016, one year after Britain has already dropped its case, Biden tells Ukraine to get rid of Shokin due to non-performance on the Zlochevsky (Burisma) case.

So, if I understand KIKI's article correctly, the reason why the Obama administration wanted to fire Ukraine's Chief Prosecutor (Shokin) wasn't because he was investigating Burisma *nat gas company, but because he WASN'T, and they were ready to withold loan gurantees over it.

How does this track? The owner of Burisma (Zlochevskiy) was reputed to be an ally of deposed (democratically-elected) Yanukovich, who was reputed to be a friend of Putin. Well, any friend of Putin's, no matter how distant, would be targeted for invesigation by Obama.

So Shokin was supposedly fired because he wasn't diligent enough in pursuing Burisma corruption? What about the Chief Prosecutor afterwards. Did HE do a better job?

Quote:

Kaleniuk and AntAC published a detailed timeline of events surrounding the Burisma case, an outline of evidence suggesting that three consecutive chief prosecutors of Ukraine -- first Shokin’s predecessor, then Shokin, and then his successor -- worked to bury it.

https://www.rferl.org/a/why-was-ukraine-top-prosecutor-fired-viktor-sh
okin/30181445.html
Clearly there was more at stake than Burisma.

I have more info but busy will post later.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

"the reason why the Obama administration wanted to fire Ukraine's Chief Prosecutor (Shokin) wasn't because he was investigating Burisma *nat gas company, but because he WASN'T, and they were ready to withold loan gurantees over it."

The stated reason - Shokin's lack of cooperation with Britain in its Bursima investigation - doesn't add up in the timeline. Shokin was Ukraine's chief prosecutor for AT MOST 3 months before Britain dropped its case, and probably only a few weeks. Before Shokin, the Ukraine efforts to help Britain look to have been zero for roughly a year. And after Britain dropped its case, there may or may not have been any INTERNAL reason for Ukraine to pursue Burisma.

So, Ukraine's top prosecutor before Shokin does absolutely zero to help the British investigation for about a year. Shokin had a few weeks as top prosecutor in which to help Britain, before Britain drops its own investigation due to lack of evidence. After the British case against Burisma goes defunct, Shokin continues to remain in office for somewhat less than a year, before he's ousted for failing to cooperate sufficiently with the British investigation and causing it to fail - an investigation that had already been defunct for over a year.

So why did they punish Shokin for his failure to do in a few weeks what hadn't been done in a year? And why did they 'let' him remain in office for so long after his (apparently) deeply culpable failure? (And sheesh - talk about the US using the power of the purse to interfere in another country's internal affairs!!)

The stated reasons for getting rid of Shokin just don't add up against the timeline. That leads me to suspect the stated reason. I have no alternative theory as to why Shokin was punished supposedly for non-performance specifically re the British Burisma investigation, but the CP before him wasn't. And if it was for general non-performance, I have no idea why Shokin was punished but his successor wasn't.

What I wanted to add to the idea, is that I have no idea why they picked on Shokin individually and specifically, but not on any other CP who equally failed to perform. It may have been that he didn't provide the quantity and quality of meaningless lip service they expected from a national-level CP.

AFAIK most people get individually fired not due to lack of performance, but because they irritate their bosses.

In this case, while we may never know why Shokin was fired, as a bonus piece of information we get to see who the real bosses of Ukraine were at the time, which were the international investors.
