In the UK, attendees at a private engagement reportedly summarised the Prime Minister’s most senior aide’s approach to COVID-19 as “herd immunity, protect the economy, and if that means some pensioners die, too bad”. The government has denied this, but if real, it’s not surprising. At a government event early in the pandemic, a senior civil servant said to me: “Is it worth the economic disruption? If you look at the treasury valuation of a life, probably not.”

This kind of view is endemic in a particular elite class. It is well represented by a Texas official who argued that many elderly people would gladly die rather than see the US sink into economic depression.

BoJo is fine. No laugh for you. You're used to that though, since you're always wrong.

Meanwhile, in reality...

Current (reported) confirmed US cases: 662,045
Current (reported) tested the US: 3,423,034
Current (reported) deaths in the US: 28,998

*"Deaths" were bumped by thousands, with some reports saying New York may have added up to 3,700 new deaths with at least 2,000 to pad the numbers.

Wowie! Sure glad we shut everything down over 30,000 deaths!

Total number of deaths in the US from everything else since January 1st: 832,464

Total number of births in the US since January 1st: 1,144,044

Get ready to face the real problem, which is figuring out how to put millions of Americans forced out of work back into the work force and face the music for spending 5.5 years worth of George W. Bush military budgets in a single CARES Act just to give a bunch of "free" money to people so they don't start slitting each others throats for it.

This is gross negligence at every level of government.

Anybody who fed into the panic with their own is equally culpable.

This is simply the icing on the cake for the Boomer Generation. A generation which will go down in American History as the plague on the country and the world that it was.

Enjoy your health insurance. Your kids won't have it when they're your age. Most of them won't even be able to afford homeowners insurance or any other type of insurance either since all of those Boomer Born ponzi schemes are finally starting to be priced out everybody's reach.

Boris Johnson is praising the UK's National Health Service (NHS) for saving his life. The US cannot have a NHS, which would ruin the profitable business of health insurance companies, because Republicans hate anything like the NHS, calling it Communism. That's the American way until the GOP has fewer than 40 Senators. The NHS is approximated by Medicare-for-All, which would be filibustered by Republican Senators.

Good point. Just the other day a neighbor up the street got in a car accident and died, which lead to her next door neighbor catching it and getting in an accident and dying. Then it spread through the neighborhood. Everyone catching the car accident virus. And then there were the people who went shopping and caught cancer from some dumb ass cancer carrier who couldn't stay home and keep his cancer to himself. Thank gawd we at least don't do anything to reduce car accidents or cancer! They're all going to die anyway!

Oh, wait... none of that is true.

One thing that is true: you can't catch cancer from some who carries it. It's not a virus. But you can catch stupidity from other people - that is definitely viral.

Not surprised that stupid people don't get the point.

There could be 20 times as many deaths and we're not even hitting the death rate from everything else. Everything else is also a misnomer, since most of these Coomph deaths are people who were going to die of something else anyhow.

We get your point that talking about the people Trump killed because of his incompetence as President might affect his reelection. The way Trump is handling this is to get state governors to end social distancing for him, so there won't be any of Trump's fingerprints on that decision. Then Trump can continue to downplay the huge pile of dead bodies that were his fault. His pile of dead is far larger than any other leader in the world because Trump is far worse as a leader. Trump is World Class Worst. Look at the number of Trump dead listed at www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries

Yes he is. This, one could argue, is the most important job of the presidency: to sweat the long-term stuff. Our implicit assumption is that presidents will plan, self-moderate and reason. Executive function is an essential requirement for executive office.

In Trump, alas, we have the opposite: a man renowned for intellectual incontinence, rather than discipline. His plans to fight this pandemic vary from hour to hour, minute to minute. He has all the focus of a moth. It’ll miraculously disappear I mean it’s a mild flu I mean it’s serious I mean reopen the country I mean don’t reopen the country I mean yes reopen the country I mean I have absolute authority I mean the governors will do it.

His prefrontal cortex — the very part of the brain that controls executive function, anticipating and regulating and decision-making — is entirely offline.

If this indiscipline were conjoined with a devil-may-care courage — an indifference to what others thought, a willingness to quickly adapt — that would be one thing. But it isn’t. And having the strength to establish new norms is another cognitive requirement to lead during a crisis.

There you go. For Karen and The Captain.

I'd put Commie Tommy on that list, but he already posted about this from dubious news source Mother Jones, which I'm surprised even said anything about it.

Quote:

The first large-scale community test of 3,300 people in Santa Clara County found that 2.5 to 4.2% of those tested were positive for antibodies -- a number suggesting a far higher past infection rate than the official count.

Based on the initial data, researchers estimate that the range of people who may have had the virus to be between 48,000 and 81,000 in the county of 2 million -- as opposed to the approximately 1,000 in the county's official tally at the time the samples were taken.

“Our findings suggest that there is somewhere between 50- and 80-fold more infections in our county than what’s known by the number of cases than are reported by our department of public health," Dr. Eran Bendavid, the associate professor of medicine at Stanford University who led the study, said in an interview with ABC News' Diane Sawyer.

"There has been wide recognition that we were undercounting infections because of lack of testing or patients were asymptomatic," Dr. John Brownstein, an epidemiologist at Boston Children's Hospital said.

As Second's article noted, if the fatality rate is consistent with these numbers, you're looking at around 1.65 million dead if there were 100% infection rate. And that is by getting a fatality rate of 0.05% by "conservatively doubling" the amount of current recorded deaths to get that number, since without doing that you're at 0.025% and not even on par with the flu.

What second's article fails to point out, however, is that the number would be even lower since it's almost exclusively old people who die and we are a young nation, particularly when put against aging nations like Italy.

THIS is what I've been saying all along. I didn't need some "educated" dipshits wearing white lab coats doing a test to tell me that it was true.

But what the fuck do I know, Karen.

226,659? That's barely 1% of all deaths in the world so far this year.

Doesn't change the meaning.

The Coomph is still a huge nothing burger at 1.18% of all 2020 deaths by the end of April.

Even with the increasingly lax criteria for classifying the deaths as such that are incorrectly adding large numbers of non-Coomph related deaths to the total.

Worldwide Coomph Deaths 5/24/2020: 341,549

Total Worldwide Deaths 5/24/2020: 22,642,330

If we include Coomph Deaths in the daily deaths that were going to happen anyhow, that's 1.5% of all deaths so far this year.

If we add the Coomph total to the daily totals, (22,983,879), it drops to 1.486%

Wowie!

No. No it is not scary.

Meanwhile, in reality...

52,200,000 babies have been born so far in 2020.

That's also nearly 153 times as many new lives compared to the amount of Coomph deaths so far this year.

Everybody is afraid of something. Anybody who tells you otherwise is lying to you.

Being afraid of The Coomph is a waste of mental and emotional energy. The chances you'll ever die from it are slim to none.

And if you really had something to worry about with The Coomph, chances are very high that you DO have to worry about some of those other things that are the leading causes of death in the first place. If you're healthy and those other causes don't concern you, you have very little to worry about from the virus.

And keep stats like this fresh in your mind when the Legacy Media is trying to brainwash you and people you know into being afraid of the microscopic Bogey Man.

Oh... and BTW...

There were 1.25 Million fatalities from automobile accidents in 2013 according to the WHO, or 3,424 deaths per day.

https://www.who.int/gho/road_safety/mortality/en/

At 341,549 current worldwide deaths, we're looking at an average of 2,355 deaths per day from The Coomph (which again, a vast majority of those were people who were already sick and are older than the average life expectancy as well).

It might not be true during the lower traffic during the shutdown, but on any given day you're 32% more likely to die in a car crash than you are from The Coomph.

You sure are a dummy! Aren't you, JACK?

AGE / share of deaths

0 - 17 / 0.06%

18 - 44 / 3.9%

45 - 64 / 22.4%

65 - 74 / 24.9%

75+ / 48.7%

But OBVIOUSLY, anyone at ANY age who gets seriously ill from COVID-19 should just be flushed without medical care. Because they must be, yanno, 'weak', and need to be culled. Right?

Your numbers are bullshit, dummy.

Time will prove me right.

Keep fear mongering, Karen. You're an otherwise useless human being. At least the Deep State found a use for you before you die.

Aside from your inability to think logically, what I find so interesting about you is your intrinsic dishonesty.

Nothing screams louder about that than the fact that you won't live by the standards you apply to others.

Those teeth of yours? Genetic weakness. You were genetically slated for removal from the human species. Chronic jaw rot and an inability to eat is certain death. Yanno, ANY inbuilt weakness that leads to death is just like any other. Jaw rot = COVID-19. But instead of allowing nature to take its course with your weakness, LIKE YOU WANT TO HAPPEN TO OTHERS, you chickened out.

What a schmuck.

We're smarter than other species, dummy. (At least some of us are).

When I'm attaching a piece of drywall to a stud, I don't use a screwdriver to do it (even though it is possible to do so). I certainly don't try to turn the screw into the wall by pressing down hard while rubbing my thumb and forefinger together.

Just like a power drill, dentures are a tool. They're just as good at doing the job as teeth are, and as it turns out they're much easier to clean at the end of the day. The switch from teeth to dentures could be considered mankind's innovative molting procedure.

Your apples to oranges puss-brain logic is a hard fail as always.

Looking forward to reading more of your Maddowisms regarding The Coomph today, Deep State Agent Karen.

I have other considerations about Covid in my life, like my wife, kids, and grandkids. I do worry about all of them staying healthy.

I didn't tell you not to wear a mask.

A mask is a tool to make you feel safe. By all means, wear a mask if it makes you feel better, Karen.

I don't recall ever telling anybody that people shouldn't be put on ventilators or go to the hospital when they are sick either. You're going to have to show me where I did because I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

The shutdowns that you cheered on, however, were a national and worldwide travesty that we will be paying for for years and perhaps decades.

They were also a tool. A severely misused tool based off of overreaction to fear and panic propagated by a media (also a tool) designed to instill all sorts of fear and panic in people every day.

It would probably be an error on my part to say that at least my tool (the dentures) does what it's designed to do, unlike the shutdown or the media. I think both of those tools are doing exactly what they were designed to do as well.

Part of which, was turning people like you into tools.

And my "genetic inferiority" as you like to call it, is not lethal. Not even close. If it were, that would be easy. Dying is easy. Death is easy.

Facing possibly 40 or more years of your life with the inability to talk correctly and be forced to eat nothing but baby food, smoothies and peanut butter is not easy.

Dentures do nothing to prolong my life. They did not save my life. But attempting to live 40 or more years without dentures is like spending the rest of your life raking leaves with your fingernails because you're too stupid to realize they have rakes and blowers for that.

Logic fail. As always. Stupid, stupid Karen.

Sure you did.

You've said at least 50 times, if not over 100, that we should all just get back to normal - which means, no masks. Here's an example:
Quote:

This is hardly a doomsday scenario. Let's go back to our lives now.
You've even advocated against people wearing masks specifically, like here :
Quote:

99% or more don't need hand sanitizers or masks.
Quote:

I don't recall ever telling anybody that people shouldn't be put on ventilators or go to the hospital when they are sick either.
You said they should just catch it and die, already.
Quote:

Time to try to salvage the economy and let the chips fall where they may.
Quote:

The shutdowns that you cheered on
NOT ONCE. And that's the reason you can't find a quote for yet another of your lies.
Quote:

Can't chew without help, can't eat without help ... can't live without help. Your lack of teeth and rotting jaws are definitely a death sentence without help from technology and antibiotics. Even YOU agree. Peanut butter and baby food don't grown on trees.
Quote:

If it were, that would be easy. Dying is easy. Death is easy.
snicker
How many people have YOU seen die, JACK?
Come back to me when you've see over 200 people die and then tell me about it.
Quote:

Dentures do nothing to prolong my life. They did not save my life.
You now live by technology alone, JACK. It's the only thing between you and starvation and rotting from the jaws out.

lol

Look how gross you've become.

Take a shower. You're filthy.

And you're a liar, a shitty wannabe propagandist, a terrible manipulator and twister of words that end up in massive failure (see above post) and just all around 100% wrong about everything you just said to boot.

Oh. And you're a deep state tool now and too fucking stupid to realize that you are.

Even though the numbers are grossly inflated and not even close to the truth, Johns Hopkins shows 360,437 global deaths as of 3:20AM CST on 5/29/2020.

Congrats, Coomph!

With help of the Deep State and the corrupt to the core WHO fudging the numbers and propagandizing, you've finally taken out as many lives as are born worldwide in a single day.

How likely does anybody think that is?

Nope.

Just cheering it on to troll Karen the Trollable.

It's called a signature. Not a coda. Don't try to make yourself sound smarter than you actually are by using words in ways that nobody in 2020 uses them anymore, Karen. Ask anybody under 45 what a coda is, and they'll tell you that it's the scene that comes after the credits in a Marvel movie.

Your anachronisms aren't clever, and just add to how elitist you already come across.
