Seriously, why do they not allow people to go in whichever door now?

Why herd EVERYONE through the same doors so we can all breathe the same air??

It doesn't make a single SPECK of difference, except to make it harder for people with mild disabilities to actually make it in and out of the store!

If you were to limit where people walked, I could see the point, but it really is just mindlessly irritating policy making.

And if they are doing the same things everywhere, you know you have to go a half mile around barriers that are not used, except first thing in the morning. Can they not just move them out of the way for the rest of the day??

And then the whole closing early, do you know how much that screws over people who work second shift or have a delayed sleep phase?? AND FOR WHAT?? They could still be open the same hours AND have one of the drones sterilize the carts with a spray bottle late at night. WHOOPADEEDOOOO!!!

And just what does closing one hour early accomplish??? NOTHING.

Also, I don't know about the rest of you, but our Covid numbers were under 10 for the last two months, and this weekend it jumped to 20 and two deaths, so re-opening doubled our numbers.

Anyone know/keep track of their counties numbers??

I haven't kept track of any of it since near the beginning. Honestly couldn't care less and it was so overblown and gross. The media has already moved on to the next big thing, so I don't imagine we're going to hear much more about The Coomph except for residual shit as everything starts to re-open.

It sounds like they even went crazier about it down in your part of the state than in mine... or we're just shopping at different stores. I do most of my grocery shopping at Aldi. Get there 20 minutes before closing and there's never any wait. I'm in and out in 10 minutes.

EDIT: Just checked the map.

My county had 485,493 people in 2019.

3,639 cases (0.75% of population).

190 "alleged" deaths (0.039% of population).

WISHI - you can click on your county at this link. https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/us-map If it has your county, not only will you see current numbers, but you'll also see a graph at the lower right that shows you how the numbers are changing over time. It makes it easier to visualize the data. Los Angeles County, for example, is zooming upward at an accelerating rate. Which means that here it's not even close to slowing down, let alone being under any kind of control.

Unfortunately, it has only a limited number of counties.

As for the "in" and "out" doors, my Trader Joe's restricts the number of people in the store at any one time. They have a person at the "out" door telling the person at the "in" door how many people left, and therefore, how many can come in. Aside from morning hours which are still reserved for seniors here, and which do have line(s) (seniors who get in early v others) waiting to get in, "in' and "out" doors aren't enforced.

But in many stores here you can't bring in your own grocery bags, which puzzles me. Cloth is very inhospitable to the virus, and your chances of picking up anything are so small as to be zero. And if they're worried about the cashiers, they could always wear gloves. Anyway, I tell them to not bag my stuff, and I bag it at my car myself.

The "in" "out" thing makes sense for high volume shopping areas, but here you are probably never going to have more than 100 people in the store at any one time. The barriers they have here only help keep the people who are waiting in the morning from standing in the drive lane like cast members from the movie City of Angels (the angels gather at sunrise and sunset and stand around).
The rest of the day people just jump them and that is pretty stupid.

I doubt the dozen black people we have here are gonna riot, either They are mostly Haitian immigrants and don't want to lose their jobs.

They publish our area tallies every week, so I've kept up that way, but I do think the numbers everywhere have gone through the roof in the past week.

Soon 6ix may even know someone affected by the virus and then it'll become "real"

I'm just wondering if you think they are faking deaths around the globe just to keep up the ruse?

Good article for you.
https://what-if.xkcd.com/27/

In the end it's not really about the numbers at all, it's about the fact that no one wants to die choking and delirious because they picked the wrong shopping cart.

I've had pneumonia 4 times, and it is an agonizing thing and I didn't even have it that bad. And you can have a "not that bad" instance of Covid...and then be dead of it 3 hours later.

Unexpected death is terrifying, even when it doesn't matter to you....and it will.

They aren't "faking" deaths. I have no doubt that they're actually counting actual dead bodies. But they're attributing a grossly incorrect amount of those deaths to The Coomph and inflating the numbers. Check back to 2020 when all the death numbers are solidified for the year (likely in 2 or 3 years, so you're going to have to remember to do this). You're going to see a dramatic drop from other types of deaths that remain relatively stable over the years. The only one you can't really look at will be the automobile accidents because that drop will be directly related to the shutdowns and even more pronounced if they go on for much longer or even worse come back in the fall/winter.

How well, or badly, 2020 is going has nothing to do with anybody faking anything - either in the US OR around the globe, JACK.

Do YOU think 'just a little flu' Bolsonaro is faking anything with a figure of 526,447 cases and 29,937 deaths? Because if you do, you're loonier than I thought.

But, what the hell, JACK. Escape into your own little fantasy where COVID-19 is fake, nobody is dying, and, once you've written everyone else off ... too old ... too young ... too sick ... too much of a democrat ... you're the only person valuable enough to be worthy of survival.

You have no clue and we all know it.

If they're self explanatory you should have no problem explaining them, any of them. Give it a shot!

Here's an explanation: Jack embarrasses himself by stepping in his own sh*t again. Nuthin' but another big mouth with a small brain.
