I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Well, first of all, Biden is an empty suit, so someone else would be running the country. The Obama/Clinton/Pelosi gang? Deeper into the swamp, the deep state and transnationals? Whoever would be in charge would LOVE Biden to be President because he wouldn't have an independent thought in his head. He would never travel the globe or speak with other foreign heads of state. He would never hold live press conferences. Everything would be pre-recorded in five-second sound bites.

But I digress.

All of the investigations into the political corruption of our security agencies would be shitcanned, as well as any investigation of Biden's and the Clintons' financial corruption.

More importantly, the Democrats would use the oppty to solidify their hold on power inDC. Make DC the 51st state? Offer instant citizenship to illegal immigrants? Change voting rules? Get rid of the electoral college?

What would they DO with that power?

Well, there are some things for sure they wouldn't do:

They wouldn't institute single payer because they're just as beholden to big pharma, hospital corporations, and insurances as Republicans, maybe more so.

They would never re-industrialize the USA bc the Obama/Clinton/Pelosi wing of the party has been pushing for offshoring American jobs as long as establishment Republicans. After all, how would Apple make its unconscionable profits if it had to assemble its phones in the USA?

They wouldn't REALLY reduce the wealth gap (altho they might make a show of it) because their donors belong to the international elites, who they don't want to piss off or drive away.

They WOULDN'T be able, or even willing, to fix Covid-19-induced economic problems.

The would probably want another bite of the Syrian/Libyan/Ukrainian/Iranian apples because it didn't go the way they planned. But because Russia and China would be standing in the way of their plans, hostility towards the other major powers would also increase. BTW, "interventions" would be framed as "humanitarian" bombings.

They would probably want to revitalize NATO, but the EU itself may not welcome such a move- Germany in particular.

And while the USA may want to "re-set" its relationships with major powers, it's unlikely to bear much fruit. Even if the people behind Biden want to institute the JPCOA with Iran, it will not cause Iran to undo the $400 BILLION dollar deal that it just inked with China, and neither China nor Russia are likely to succumb to the blandishments of the internationalists. (Russia because it knows better, and China because the 2008 collapse opened their eyes to the fact that, no, the western economy really DOESN'T know what it's doing.) The only wildcard in this sphere is India.

OH, AND REPORTING ON COVID-19 WOULD CHANGE DRAMATICALLY. The facts on the ground woudn't change, but you wouldn't get that drumbeat of statistics. I think the press would wind up ignoring the story.

So, since life-altering economic, healthcare, or foreign policy changes are not in the wind, what WILL the DNC do?

Well, my guess is that it will focus on identity politics morning, noon, and night. There will be all kinds of drama and meaningless concessions and speeches by politicians wearing kente cloth, and they and their base will try to outdo each other in "purity" tests: who can be the least racist/sexist/*ist and the most pure?

It will be like something after the French revolution and the Reign of Terror, except instead of losing their heads people will lose their reputations and their jobs.

After four years of totally meaningless and pointless drama, nothing will be better than before.

I got some of those ideas from here

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

My thoughts on Biden are none too kind. I would be really unhappy if he was president and the globalists were filling his empty suit.

What would Signym write on the GOP that matches what she wrote on the Democratic Party? "It will be like something after the French revolution and the Reign of Terror, except instead of losing their heads people will lose their reputations and their jobs." Compared to guillotining, Signym softened the ending of that sentence since a million people routinely lose their jobs, not lives, every week in Trump's misgoverned America.

The problem some here have, sig kiki Jack and so on, is that they are trying to label Joe Biden as being something his decade’s long service proves to be untrue. I’ll elaborate. Every negative liberal, progressive, empty shirt label they try to hang on Joe is proven wrong by his decade’s long record. A record most Americans are aware shows him to be anything but.

This is nothing more than a failed strategy. Think not, just look at Trumps drastically shrinking support. Biden leads by double digits. So, to all you trolls who think I may find your posts troubling I would say. As long as you continue to post about Biden’s Ukrainian or China ties, his liberal tendencies or the Clintons, I smile.

This means Joe’s support will continue to increase as Trumps continues to fall. It’s soothing to see you guys post a losing stratagem again and again. And, my asinine friends, as Trump goes, so goes the Senate.

What if Trump wins?

https://crookedtimber.org/2020/07/20/the-republican-phase-transition/#
comments

Two trends will continue:

(1) The rise of Donald Trump represents a radical transformation of the Republican party and American conservatism.

(2) Everything Trump has done is a continuation of long-established Republican policy and practices.

In trying to find a way to understand this, I was struck by the idea that the concept of a phase transition (such as from liquid to gas, or dissolved solid to crystal) in physics and chemistry might be a useful metaphor. I didn’t get past high-school in science, so I may well use the metaphor inaccurately – I’m sure commenters will feel free to set me straight.

To develop the metaphor, think of the Eisenhower-era Republican party as a complicated mixture of many dissolved ingredients, in which the dominant element was the business establishment, and the Trump era party as a crystallized mass of plutocratic economics, racism and all-round craziness. The development over the 60 years between the two has consisted of keeping the mixture simmering, while adding more and more appeals to racial animus and magical thinking (supply-side economics, climate denial, the Iraq war and so on). In this process various elements of the original mix have boiled off or precipitated out and discarded as dregs. Stretching the metaphor a bit, I’m thinking of boiling off as the process by which various groups (Blacks and Northeastern liberal Republicans in the 20th Century, liberaltarians more recently) have left the Republican coalition in response to its racism and know-nothingism. The dregs that have precipitated out are ideas that were supposed to be important to Republicans (free trade, scientific truth, classical liberalism, moral character and so on) that turned out not to matter at all.

Trump’s arrival is the seed crystal that produces the phase change. The final product of the reaction emerges in its crystallized form, and the remaining elements of the mixture are discarded.

If Trump stopped acting like a complete idiot about the pandemic, he could pull even with Biden. If Trump can humble Biden, or Biden does it to himself, Trump pulls ahead. If all else fails, Trump has the NSA to use their electronic magic to just plain cheat by changing the vote count. I would not bet my life that Trump loses. But it depends on Trump to stop acting like a fool. I don't know if he can. Maybe.

If Trump would stop improvising his answers and just read the script written for him by smart GOP political operatives, he can win. But I think Trump's mouth is bigger than his brain. It so, he loses. First thing, if he gets suddenly smarter, is to stop tweeting falsehoods. Here is one from this morning:
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
You will never hear this on the Fake News concerning the China Virus, but by comparison to most other countries, who are suffering greatly, we are doing very well - and we have done things that few other countries could have done!
5:39 AM · Jul 21, 2020 · Twitter for iPhone
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1285524871666118656

6ix, and tens of millions more Know-Nothings, will believe Trump's tweet, but to win he needs more people than that. Or he needs the NSA to change the vote totals after the polls close.

Trumps made up his mind. He's going full on negative. It doesn't matter what his minders think or say. Besides, Trump has surrounded himself with incompetent's who give nothing but bad advice.

Trump has been running against Biden for 6 months now and it just keeps getting worse for him. He's hitting Biden with everything he can think of, including lie upon lie and nothing works. Unless Biden gets sick it's over. Remember folks, mail in voting is about to start and Biden will be leading by double digits when it does. This shits over. Stop being afraid.

Stupid people don't know they're stupid, and they certainly don't realize how obvious it is to others.

Here is how Trump could win: "By November, then, without counting on Trump to do anything at all except sign a bill and continue to not disparage masks, it’s possible to envision sustained decreases in both COVID-19 deaths and the unemployment rate, creating a tightening effect as fair-weather Republican-leaning voters decide, “Well, I suppose this is fine.” Congressional Democrats also alleged Monday that a Republican-led Senate committee may be preparing to publicize Russia-generated disinformation about Biden’s purportedly corrupt ties to Ukraine, which could generate partisan heat and put off Biden-curious independents."

The article goes on to give the other side, which assumes the majority of Americans aren't brain damaged like 6ix:

"And yet … this election is going to be between two men whose qualities have already been very well established in the American mind. In that aggregate mind, Joe Biden is perceived as vastly more compassionate, intelligent, honest, and possessed of good judgment than Trump is—and that’s after the months of national attention given to bogus Biden-Ukraine allegations earlier this year. It is already late July, and Trump’s hypothetical convention boost is being pinned on plans to hold an in-person event in Jacksonville, Florida, plans even local Republican officials have described as unrealistic. Biden will get his own convention; giving speeches is something he still does well, and he could benefit from a buzzy vice presidential rollout. On Tuesday he introduced a plan to fund universal preschool for children as young as 3 years old by raising taxes on wealthy real estate investors, a timely proposal that is likely to poll well. Nightmare scenario acknowledged, we must conclude that President Donald Trump is still quite vincible."

Older relatives have been given the MMSE as part of a normal physical, but the questions are always the same. One relative even gave the answers before the questions were asked, because jawn remembered them from the previous time.

This might be like during the previous election when I kept trying to point out Hillary's, the DNC's, and the democratic party's deficiencies. But nobody wanted to hear it. And then they couldn't figure out what went wrong and had to invent the 'Russia' excuse as to why Hillary lost.

I already decided a while ago that, personally, once again I'll be voting for 'not the democrat'. But thinking about your post solidified my intentions even further, because of the trans-national and wholly mercenary nature of the democrats.

If we lose our control of our nation to international interests, we will never be able to solve any of our problems - especially not global warming and not nuclear peace. Maintaining US control over US interests is the first step to doing anything.

Biden as the empty suit being run by international interests is the reason why I can't support him. And his VP choice, aside from pandering to identity groups to get the most votes, will have to be thoughtfully vetted to go along with whatever the internationalists want ... just in case Biden croaks or something during his term and the VP takes over.

I see the VP choice as being indicative of who is hoping to run the show.

Fake News narrative is that Sloppy Joe The Pretender managed to injure his "ankle" while his dog was walking him.

Is this the last we will hear of Joe until his death is announced? Will the next Fake News that we hear be about finding a knife in his back him dying from Covid?

Can any of you Libs share the upcoming timeline? Must not announce his death until after Electoral College confirms Kamala as Veep, then Joe Death announced, then Veep Nancy selected, Then Veep Nancy declares she will remain Speaker while also serving as Veep? Is that it?

I should have explained part of this. They need to wait until Electoral College votes and confirms Kamala as Veep, otherwise if it is announced that Joe has died then he will become Horace Greeley 2.0, since he died after Election Day but before Electoral College voted, in 1872.
Does anybody recall what excuse was given in Weekend At Bernie's for his initial lack of presence? Did he have an injured ankle?

I have not been paying attention to a certain aspect, maybe some of you know the answer.

How is the fight going over control of Obidenbot?

Whether he is still alive or not, who is winning the battle over who gets the most reward after funding this coup?

Obviously, not the worker bees.

I have heard that some announcements have been made, perhaps pre-recorded prior to his death, and slow-rolled out now. Cabinet picks from whoever paid the most money to choose those. These misght indicate who is winning the battle behind the scenes.

Certainly none of these people were the ones who funded the coup.

So is Soros top dog? Obama, since Obiden is really the 3rd term of Obama, and he orchestrated all of the DEEP STATE shenanigans for the past 4 years.
Is Fuckerberg top dog? Dorsey? Bozo?

Seems all of these tards had to combine forces to accomplish the coup, so do they now have a truce amongst them? Did they have an agreement in place already?

I don't really think Mark Elias, darling of the Franken Election Theft, has much pull - he is just another Mueller level Troll.

Biden starts staffing a commission on Supreme Court reform
He pushed the idea as a candidate during the Amy Coney Barrett confirmation fight. Now, he’s getting it going.

By TYLER PAGER

01/27/2021 12:14 PM EST

The Biden administration is moving forward with the creation of a bipartisan commission to study reforms to the Supreme Court and the federal judiciary.

The commission will be housed under the purview of the White House Counsel’s office and filled out with the behind-the-scenes help of the Biden campaign’s lawyer Bob Bauer, who will co-chair the commission. Its specific mandate is still being decided. But, in a signal that the commission is indeed moving ahead, some members have already been selected, according to multiple people familiar with the discussions.

Among those who will be on the commission are Cristina Rodríguez, a professor at Yale Law School and a former deputy assistant attorney general in the Obama Department of Justice, who will join Bauer as co-chair. Caroline Fredrickson, the former president of the American Constitution Society, and Jack Goldsmith, a Harvard Law School professor and a former assistant attorney general in the Bush Department of Justice, will also serve on the commission, those familiar with discussions said.

Fredrickson has hinted that she is intellectually supportive of ideas like court expansion. In 2019, she said in an interview with Eric Lesh, the executive director of the LGBT Bar Association and Foundation of Greater New York: “I often point out to people who aren't lawyers that the Supreme Court is not defined as ‘nine person body’ in the Constitution, and it has changed size many times.”

Rodríguez’s opinions on court reforms are less clear. Goldsmith’s selection, meanwhile, is likely to be the one to frustrate progressives. A senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, Goldsmith did not support Trump and is a friend and co-author of Bauer. But he was a vocal advocate of Brett Kavanaugh’s appointment to the high court — an appointment that sparked Democratic advocacy for expanding the number of Supreme Court seats.

“He will also be an influential figure within the Supreme Court building,” Goldsmith wrote in 2018 about Kavanaugh in a Time article titled, “Brett Kavanaugh Will Right the Course of the Supreme Court.” “He is a brilliant analyst with a deep scholarly and practical knowledge of the law. His legal opinions are unusually accessible. He is a magnanimous soul.”

Bauer, who is not planning to go into the administration full-time, is himself a proponent of term limits for federal judges. He has been helping with the creation of the commission and, according to a person familiar with the deliberations, initially proposed the idea of forming a commission to study the issue of court reform.

“The President remains committed to an expert study of the role and debate over reform of the court and will have more to say in the coming weeks," a White House official said in a statement.

The recruitment of members is still ongoing, but a source familiar with the discussion expects between nine and 15 members total to be appointed to the commission. Rodríguez and Goldsmith did not respond to a request for comment, and Fredrickson declined to comment.

The idea for a commission came together amid the push by Republican senators to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court in the weeks before the November election. Under intense pressure to consider reforms to the Supreme Court’s composition — including court expansion — Biden performed a classic Washington, D.C., punt. He announced in October that if he was elected, he would form such a commission to study structural changes. But Biden also conceded he is “not a fan of court packing.”

"The last thing we need to do is turn the Supreme Court into just a political football, whoever has the most votes gets whatever they want," Biden said in a “60 Minutes” interview in October. "Presidents come and go. Supreme Court justices stay for generations."

Oh, he* just said that to sound "moderate". Besides, Biden* isn't driving the policy-bus anyway. As soon as he leaves office, in a few months to a couple of years, the CIA-linked DNC will do whatever it wanted to do in the first place.

Quote:

Progressive groups pushing for court expansion responded with skepticism to Biden’s announcement at the time. And they’ve remained skeptical to this day.

“Commissions are often places where ideas go to die and there is no time on the clock to reform the court,” said Aaron Belkin, the director of Take Back the Court, a progressive group advocating for adding seats to the Supreme Court. “The entire agenda of what needs to get done is in jeopardy thanks to stolen federal courts.”

“We know,” he added, “that court expansion is the only strategy to allow the administration to solve the problems facing the country.”

An administration official said the commission is part of a broader court review and reform effort, part of which will focus on lower courts.

Progressives’ push to expand the Supreme Court was reenergized after Democrats won both Georgia Senate runoff races in January, giving them control of all three branches of government for the first time since 2010.

But any major structural reform would still be a heavy lift, as several Democratic senators have signaled their opposition to such measures. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Monday he was waiting for Biden’s commission to decide a path forward on reforms to the Supreme Court.

“President Biden has put together this commission to come up with a report in 180 days,” he said in an MSNBC interview this week. “We’re going to see what the commission says and go from there.”

Can anyone show me that the Supreme Court isn't functioning properly?
I understand there is a problem with the Federal level judiciary as a whole, but that is because appointments are often blocked for political reasons. Also, the various districts have different biases leading to disparate rulings on the same issue which need to be resolved by the Supreme Court.

Democrats Introduce Senate Bill To Make D.C. The 51st State

Authored by Jonathan Turley,

Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) and other Democratic senators are introducing a bill for D.C. statehood today, a proposal with heavy opposition in the public in continuing polls.

Indeed, the bill was one of the reasons that members and advocates demanded the killing of the filibuster rule to force through the change in status based on a bare majority.

If successful, it would give the Democrats two more senators in a city-state that will expected to remain reliably blue. I have testified repeatedly on this issue. There are strong arguments for changing the status of the District and statehood is a viable option.

It would clearly be constitutional unlike past proposals. The question is whether it is the best option for the country. Roughly 20 years ago, I proposed a “modified retrocession plan” that would be an alternative if the Congress wanted full voting rights for citizens of the District.
The proposal would make create the first city-state in our history with a population of 700,000.

However, half of the country opposes the idea.

A new Harris/Hill poll shows fifty-two percent of respondents said they favored statehood while 48 percent said they opposed it. That is heavy opposition for such a statehood change.

Biden just unveiled another proposal with heavy public opposition: a commission that would allow court-packing or other structural changes on the Court to blunt the conservative majority.

I have written a long academic publication on the status of the District of Columbia and testified at the prior hearings on allowing for voting representation of District residents. See Jonathan Turley, Too Clever By Half: The Partial Representation of the District of Columbia in the House of Representatives, 76 George Washington University Law Review 305-374 (2008). I also testified in both the House and Senate repeatedly on such proposals.

The debate over D.C. statehood is a complex issue with historical, constitutional, and legal dimensions. It is also an issue with important and unresolved racial issues of a black-majority city without direct representation in Congress. I have previously voiced my view that such lack of representation for the District is unacceptable and untenable in our country.

In all, I have testified five times in the House and the Senate on this issue in Congress, particularly on the effort to simply give the District a vote in the House of Representatives. I encouraged the Congress to avoid such flagrantly unconstitutional measures of a vote as a non-state entity and instead focus on a vote of statehood or retrocession. That is why I offered a “modified retrocession plan”, which was also discussed in an academic work. Under my proposal, the mall and core federal buildings would remain the District of Columbia (as is the case in this legislation) but the remainder of the District would retrocede back to Maryland (as did the other half of the original District to Virginia). In this way, residents would receive full representation while receiving the benefits of various Maryland educational and other opportunities. That reduction of the federal enclave has been incorporated in some statehood proposals. I believed that such retrocession offered the fastest course for not just full representation but improved social and educational programs for the district residents. I laid out a phased retrocession plan that began with immediate and full representation. This could be done by congressional vote.

People of good-faith can disagree on such proposals and the current legislation is clearly a constitutional approach to reaching a final resolution on the lack of representation in Congress. Indeed, it is important to hear from those who believe that statehood is an important step toward dealing with the historical racial inequalities and discrimination in our nation. Modified retrocession may not be enough to resolve such issues for many in our community.
