It's not helping anybody. It's just got to stop.

Silencing people online is just about the stupidest thing that you can do. We have to put an end to this mentality that "words are violence". Words are not violence. Words, particularly online, are a way to blow off steam in a safe manner that could otherwise just fester inside and pile up and eventually find an outlet that isn't so benign.

Sure. I have my bad days here. I'm an easily agitated person dealing with a fairly good deal of real world stress who comes on here and sees people insulting me, and and it sure feels good to to do some shit posting and let out a bit of that steam. Probably just as good as when Marcos tells everybody to kill themselves like he's a 12 year old.

Now... I post on here frequently enough and about myself enough that I probably come off as a bit unstable. I can lash out some days, and then I'm in a great mood on other days. I think this is normal behavior. Let me explain.

When we see Marcos and Wish ONLY post negative, hateful and otherwise terrible shit 100% of the time they post, that's because unlike with me, we don't see the benefit of them having their release by shit posting here. But I'll bet that Wishy is a little nicer to her husband and daughter after calling me an Incel, and Marcos is a little nicer to whoever is in his life after calling me a Nazi or others Russians and telling us to kill ourselves.

I've said for YEARS that the RWED is my Political Toilet. I can use this place to purge my political demons so I don't go out into the real world and think about all the bullshit the News says while trying to live a life. I don't dump that on other people. I don't dwell on it. I get it out of my system here and move on.

I mean... why are any of us who remain still here if it's not because it's therapeutic in a way? We almost never talk about Firefly or anything else in the world that isn't shitty.

And destroying the past has got to end too. Otherwise, there's no provable trail of how different things are today.

Instead of books being destroyed in Dr. Seuss' catalog (all 6 of which, I'd never even heard of or seen before anyhow), THEY should be the ones taught in school. THEY should be the 6 books being taught to kids who are now growing up in extremely diversified classrooms compared to the ones that I grew up in.

And not to be used to shame the white kids. Never that. But to show how different things are now. To show how attitudes have evolved, and how they continue to evolve.

We can't do that when we erase the past.

We can't explain to our kids how far we've come or give them a framework for moving ahead themselves where everyone can find a path to an equitable future where everyone has opportunity and aren't held back by hating each other or themselves for things they didn't do.

I recommend that you watch a movie called Ghost World. It was the first time I thought this way. I saw a collection of old advertisements that were saved by Steve Buciemi's character along with his old record collection and couldn't believe how racist they all were. I was 20 years old and the closest thing I'd ever seen to any of them were some now ancient Warner Bros cartoons that I'm sure have already been buried everywhere except for the darkest parts of the internet.

Destroying this past is why somebody like Stevie Wonder can come out and say that no progress has been made since he sang Ebony and Ivory.

Because we've erased the past. Because we've already forgotten it.

Don't silence each other. Don't erase the past.

Fight that urge. Because I do believe that the urge comes from a good place...

But the path to hell is paved with good intentions.

The mob got offended by anything slightly offensive and they would use it as a way to disapprove of the person for the slightest of reason. Nobody was immune to cancel culture, even a President got banned.
