Right now, about 1am Dec 23, it's -31C and with the wind chill, it's -40C and that's with only a 11km/hr "wind." Imagine if it was actually windy

It's been like this since about 9pm. So, how about where you are?

I'm in Canada's largest suburb ... Minnesota. I'm not even in the northern part of the state. I'm in the lovely capital city, St. Paul.

This morning when I started my car, it was -8. It's warmed up to ... -7 so I cannot complain.

Why not throw in the windchill!!! -35. eeeks.

You're talking Fahrenheit, yes? Not that it matters much. At around -35 they're pretty much the same.

Update from here, my weather util. tell me, at 9:00am here, it was -33C, with the windchill (11 km/hr) -43C.

I have to go out today. Hopefully the wind doesn't pick up!

Okay, I guess I'll stop complaining about the cold here, then. The other day it was 13F, and that is cold as hell in North Carolina. When it snows, we all freak out and buy out the grocery store and cancel school even if it's only an inch.

So it's cold right now in N.C. too, but only relative to N.C. I think I'd never leave my house if I lived in Canada.

A couple years ago, just after we got married, we had to get ride of our appartment as the wife got a job in Berkeley and we were moving.

One of my friends decided to take over the lease so we had him and our landlord over to sign the papers.

Since it was just before lunch, we decide to go eat after everything was said and done.

It was Dec and we'd just gone through a spell of warming and cooling, so the sidewalks were effectively ice.

My buddy and I were walking as if it was cement as we grew up in this climate and got used to it quickly. The wife on the other hand, being German, hadn't.

After my buddy and I were talking and walking for a little while I notice that my wife wasn't really contributing to the conversation anymore. So, I stopped and turned to look. What I saw was hi-larious.

She was "walking" hunched over looking at her feet, with her arms partially out for balance, taking steps that would might have been a few inches each. It was quite the sight.

So, I shouted back, "No wonder you lost the war in Russia."

She laughed almost to the point of falling over. We laughed, but were stable

It is 58F here right now, with light rain. A couple of days ago the high was 17F with wind chills of -20F. Global warming? Nah!

Back in the early 80's I was living outside Chicago and the wind chill during a particularly vicious cold snap was -80F. Now THAT is cold!

Well I guess I got you all beat. I am living in Honduras and right now it's about 90 F.

I lived in Alaska for three years, and the coldest I saw was 1 Jan 00, -53 F. I stayed inside most of the day.

very wet, very windy averaging about 8 degrees last two days, but .........the weatherman says its gonna get colder on Friday and us folks in Central Scotlad are gonna get the snow on Christmas Day. 'Bout bloomin time, ain't had decent snow here for about four years. (Hence the reason that the ski slopes damn near went out of business) Just rain, rain and well more rain. Even had a little thunder and lightning last week. Along with the rain, of course. Actually was very amusing four years ago - watching all the kids who had got bikes for Christmas out in three feet of snow determined to try out their new bikes. Hi-larious. And some very enterprising youngster who had no sleds, got themselves a big bit of corrugated iron, bent the front of it up and took of down the hill. It was amusing watching them flying off one by one as it shot down the hill........over the wall and into someones front door!

i DO aim to misbehave

I'm also in Canada's largest suburb. They say the high tomorrow is going to be 0 degrees farenheit - and that's just the air temperature. That means we will have absolutely no degrees whatsoever. I don't get how they can call that a high - I mean that's not even a stiff drink!

IF it gets into the +30s on the weekend, it's going to feel like a freaking heatwave. On the upside, my brother might get to help move the fish mansion out onto the lake.

Yes, I said mansion. Not just any old fish house, no siree!

MONTANAGIRL

Today was the first day I had to break out my Carhartt jacket. It was around -10F here this morning. Of course, we don't have the humidity in Montana that makes it really bad in places like Minnesota.

Packer fans welcome.
All others tolerated.

Just 34 degrees here, not nearly as bad as last year though, it was only 19 degrees. At least it's not raining ice yet.

Tonight it's 28F. I'm sure it's no big deal. Now three days ago I guess it was, it was 12F and that was pretty cold. It was the kind of cold that hurts your bones and akes your chin chatter. If you know what I'm saying.
What's that saying "colder than a Space Monkey's... cajones"???

My friend does tech for FedEx and was asked, "What does -43C feel like?"

His answer was something like, "There are no words to describe it, but it feels something like wind ripping your face off."

Somewhat dramatic but still somewhat accurate because it hurts.
