Ever wish you could actually FIGHT alongside the Browncoats at the Battle of Serenity Valley? Conversely, are you a fan of the Alliance and wish you could have been there alongside your Purplebelly Bretheren as they waged war against those dang sirty Independants?

If you live anywhere near the Chicagoland (moreso Illiana Region) Region and would love to live the Battle of Serenity Valley then mark your calendars for March 31 and April 1 as Badlandz Paintball Field brings the most decisive battle in the history of the Unified Galaxy to the world of paintball!!! By the end of the 2-day event, it's possible that history will be re-written in favor of the Independants.

Nothing Official has been posted at the Badlandz website yet, but I work with the game organizer and was told just today that he plans to bring this game to The Badlandz on the above mentioned dates.

I'll post more as this develops but I wanted to get the word out a.s.a.p. I myself am already slated to be the General of the Independant Forces.

Keep watch at www.thebadlandz.com for developing news.

BTW, for the uninitiated to the sport/game of paintball. This game is what's referred to as a "Big Game" or a "Scenario Game" which is different from two 5, 7, or 10 man/woman teams going at each other on a small field.

In a Scenario Game, there is:

1. A Storyline: The storyline gives the background on the theme of the game, it establishes the two or three sides in the "conflict", it gives rules, introduces special characters if there are any, tells what missions there are, etc...

2. Armies: This is not a small scale game. It ranges from 50 - 1000 acres of land and has at least two opposing armies of anywhere from 50 fighters per side up to 1000 fighters per side.

3. Missions: The game is won by the army that earns itself enough points (not kills) by the end of the game. Points are scored not by "killing" the opponents, but rather by collecting props, accomplishing missions, etc...

4. Generals and Officers: Each army has a General at its head. He or she makes all the big decisions on how the army fights and delegates a number of Lt.'s throughout his or her ranks. The Lt.'s keep in touch with their General via radio and relay orders and missions to the fighters under their direct command at that time.

5. Specialized Equipment: A paintball marker (the proper term for the paintball "gun") is not the only legitimate piece of equipment you can use in a paintball Scenario Game. In a Scenario Game there are rocket launchers, mortars, mines, "flame throwers", tanks, and "aircraft". One of the members of my team Casket Co. has earned an impressive confirmed 22 "kills" with his self-made "flame thrower".

6. Special Characters: Aside from regular players/combatants in a Scenario Game, there are also special characters (as per dictated by the games story/theme). There can be invincible juggernauts/terminators, medics, teleporting demons, etc... In a Scenario Game, there can be almost anything you'd like to see. Imagination is the limit.

I'm sure there are things I'm missing in this explanation of what a Scenario Game is. Feel free to ask any questions. My hope is to see a whole swarm of Browncoats take the field at The Badlandz on March 31 & April 1 to re-enact this historical (albeit fictional) battle from our most cherished sci-fi series ever.
