I have found an early review of the Firefly Complete Series DVD boxset.

But of course 5 stars!

I wouldn't expect anything less!

Book: “A duel?”
Wash: “With swords?”
Simon: “The Captain's a good fighter, he must know how to handle a sword?”
Zoe: “I think he knows which end to hold.”

Yes, and thanks for the plug for the review :) It's an AWESOME set!

Bah! What's wrong with us non-Yanks, eh? Why can't we take part in the shiny competition?

Because it's a Region 1 DVD set. Both myself and my UK affiliate www.scifinews.net are trying to get Region 2 DVDs to give away as well, but so far I only have access to Region 1 sets. Sorry. You aren't the first to complain about it - my message board members always ask too.

If you ever...EVER...refer to us Canadians as 'Yanks' again, there will be war; bloody war; dirty, bloody war; war where people eat people and kick statues over and get all funky and smelly and the like.

You've been warned. There's few things Canadians loathe, but being assumed to be American is almost top of the list.

Oops, apologies, Visionary. Missed that Canadian residents bit.

Anyway, I'd still enter a compo for Region 1 DVDs. My player's region free.

I did notice the part at the end of the review where comments are made about the Fox website and wishing parts of it had been saved. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Haken managed to preserve quite a bit of it for us all and has it accessable from this site. Just thought I'd mention the possibility in case it was helpful.

Shiny review!

Helpful, yes. But it was my sense (and I could be wrong about this) that Haken wanted to keep that kinda on the down-low, lest fux make with the lawyers...

Keep flyin'!

Unfortunately, there are too many people who have no clue what "Region 1" means and the odds are someone would win it and then make a stink that it won't play on their DVD player and that I was cheating them or something. I ran into that problem several years ago when I used to have contests for video tapes and someone who won one in Europe didn't know what NTSC meant and threatened to sue me because it was a "bad" Video that I refused to make good on (I finally figured out they had a PAL only player). They blasted my site on every board they could find and no amount of explaining anything to them mattered. I finally out of my pocket bought them a PAL version and even then, they continued to blast me in newsgroups and the like for about a year :P

Plus some of the companies sending me the prizes have their own restrictions and requirements (like when I gave away a TIVO it was restricted to those in the Continental US only and 18 years or older) - it gets crazy.

It's just not worth the possible bad repurcussions and headaches.

I am trying to get Region 2 versions for future contests though - just have to get all my contacts trained to the idea I'm not just a US-based site! Most of them don't even have a clue about the different formats! *sigh*

Actually, I tripped over the link Hakan gave for it elsewhere on the boards and checked it out. Nice to see it's not all totally gone - though I still wish I had saved all the behind the scenes video clips!

Just out of curiosity, when does the contest end? I poked around on your site but couldn't find that out. I am assuming around the time the DVDs are released?

I'm sorry what I meant was when is a winner chosen? The same day as the deadline? In other words, when can I stop checking my email to see if I won?
