...make it that much more beautiful.

I mean would I love it this much, would the tone of it be this right, if it hadn't been on the chopping block for a while to then ultimitly be killed.

I mean it's a show about people who got stood on by the man that itself got stood on by the man.

On those last episodes I can feel Fox' cold death hand hovering over them - I can feel the tension from them on the horizon from the first episode - and you know....it just fits.

It's like Serendipity - you think?

It almost does...in an alomst morbid way.

Fox's cold breath down your shirt...waiting to be killed off...it is fitting...

...but of course, we still would love our show back...

I like your thoughts, Spooky.

I agree with you. Joss himeself remarked on how being under the gun made him produce the best possible product, so maybe it's short life is what makes Firefly so good. Also, without the cancellation fans wouldn't be a tight knit as they are, we might not have a DVD set, and we wouldn't be getting our movie. It might someday be looked on as a blessing, if the cancellation and subsequent movie cause a bigger, better version of the series to be made again.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I don't think it really changes how I feel about the show, just how passionate I am about seeing it get to as many new people as possible and getting it into the theatre.

I think the fact that Firefly got canceled sooo quickly is what stings the most. I agree that going on under the gun benefitted the show, but 14 episodes that are that good is like a tease. Then again, I am glad the show was not given a very long life, because Joss's two other shows, Buffy and Angel, were given fairly long lives and both ended/are ending on a crappy season when all the other seasons were great.

And you make a good point about the show's theme in relation to it's cancellation - getting stamped on by the big foot and the like...

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I think that, rather than change my feelings for the show, the whole thing just makes me hate FOX more... but that's just me

Yeah, some triple-posting issues going on there.

I despise the Fox network more for all the "reality" trash is plays. This, of course, directly relates to the cancellation of Firefly, since the network barely gives anything besides the reality shows a chance. Look at Wonderfalls - a show with quite a lot of potential, though not yet fully realized, will likely fall to the same fate. The only reason to watch the network now is 24, which is actually this season's best show.

i disagree in regards to Angel. This season beats what I caught of season 4 by a mile. It's just coming back in time to be cancelled.

Everytime I see an episode of "24"--which is coming back next week YAY!--I'm amazed that Fox not only didn't drop it, but has brought it back twice.
The thing that galls me about Fox's treatment of Firefly is that nowadays, they will run repeats of a show until that show finds its audience.
That's what they did for "The O.C."
I'm thinking that Fox never really wanted Firefly: "Um, we don't want to show the Pilot, write us another whole new episode over the weekend and we'll see."
I hope they're sitting there looking at the DVD sales, hearing about the growing buzz amongst fans and converts about the movie, and feelin' all kinds of stupid.

"Take me, sir. Take me hard."

I don't think it would have made a difference in how much I liked the show. It was my favorite show on TV from the beginning. The cancellation only made me say, "See! Fox can't help themselves."
