So, I was watching "Jaynestown" last night, for like the 4th time.

Don't know why I never picked up on this before...

Remember the foreman, with the vaguely Russian accent? Can't recall his name, but he's the guy who takes Mal et al on the tour when they arrive... ?

Anyway, I looked at him last night, and had a moment of Holy S!-ness...

The actor who played that guy, name of Jordan Lund, used to live right down the block from me!!!

Why the hell it took me so many viewings to pick up on that, I'll never know...

Now that's pretty darn neat Jefé.

I always thought he had vaugely South African accent myself, but I'm not right in the head so could be mistaken.

The only semi-famous person I know personally is (or was, I don't like the sport so dunno if he still is) a relief pitcher for the KC Royals. I used to beat him up on a semi-regular basis when we were kids. Not that I went around beating people up in my youth on a regular basis but he was special, and always annoying my younger cousin so...hehe.

But definately not as cool as knowing the Foreman. Not by a long shot. Hope you never tried to beat him up, he'll hack off your hands and feet from what I hear...

So I'm standing outside with my family in -35 C weather waiting for the big countdown and fireworks for Y2K at Edmonton's now-defunct First Night Festival (defunct due to financial screwups, not the ever-horrible weather at that time of year).

The two-year old is in a backpack carrier, the newborn is in a carseat carrier with about two feet of blankets over his body to keep him from freezing solid.

Despite stamping our feet constantly in the ice and snow, we continue to freeze. I am amusing myself by looking at faces who pass by to see if anyone I know is in the huge crowd. I see someone vaguely familiar pass by, then realise he's familiar because he looks "just like that guy on 'Two Girls and a Guy'."

At the time, I had no idea that Fillion was a local guy who still visits home sometimes. So close!

Cheers,
Annik

And I can translate it from Braille. I mean, yeah, I'm sighted (although it's a disadvantage in my career field); but your catalogs are better in Braille...

Respectfully,

zoid

I can read lips too! And Morse Code and a few other languages...I'm a walking, talking translating machine! Pick me, pick me!

But no Braille. So Zoid wins because that's cool.

Hmmmm, I better rewatch Jaynestown then, seems to be sort of a Twilight Zone thing going on where people know people who are in it...wonder if I know anyone.

You're all lucky. I'm from Cornwall Ontario. It's like the Shire; the only Cornwallite who's ever accomplished anything is that skinny dork from Young Hercules.
