BDM: remake or continuation?

Does anyone know or has anyone asked if the BDM will be a continuation of the storyline from Firefly, or a remake of the storyline from Firefly? Plot synopses which have surfaced online sound much like the plot outline of the Firefly pilot "Serenity" (the Tam's join the crew, and then chaos ensues).

I know they have to back up a bit to let in all them non-believers who never seen the show, but it was all done so well on the show that I'd hate to see them do it over. There's also the lingering plot thread from the show that Inara was making plans to leave. Can they pick that up without losing the non-believers?

What do ya'll think?

I was wonderin where in the time line the BDM would pick up. 6 months after OiS? Hmmm...I'll bet Inara has left Serenity, and they meet up and she comes back..... ok, I'll stop. I don't want to think about it now.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.


According to what we have heard the BDM will take place approximately 6 months after the events in OiS. Inara has left the ship by this point and Mal is supposed to be less than his cheery self w/ her gone.
