As reported by Ain't It Cool News, Tim Minear's reworked concept for "The Inside" will debut on Fox June 8th at 9 PM. Note that this is *not* the Friday night death slot, as previously speculated, but instead, a Wednesday. Hopefully they don't pull a "Wonderfalls" and play with the schedule.

This should be fantastic. Plus, it's something really good to be distracted by while waiting for "Serenity".

Also, on the plus side, it looks like F*X may actually be giving this show a real shot at success - airing it on Wednesday night instead of Friday; starting it in the summer, when there's no competition from other new shows. And one of our BDH's, Adam Baldwin, is in it... not to mention Katie Finneran from "Wonderfalls".

This confirms it(not that it hadn't been confirmed before), FOX is Braindead. I hope they change the day by Oct. Putting this up against Alias? Sure Alias doesn't appeal to everyone, but It's had 4 years of little to no competition. Can't watch both. Guess I'll have to get another VCR and record multiple shows at the same time. How about a day when there's nothing else like it on. A day where the type of person who would watch The Inside isn't already watching something else. How about right before or after 24. Oh well, they have time to fix this before everything else starts their new seasons, hope they do. I'll find a way to watch, too much love for Tim Minear and Adam, and Katie. Looking forward to the show.

The way I see it, it's perfect. Now, when Smallville and Lost are over with, I still have something else to watch, dragging out the anticipation of watching the episode of Lost I taped at 8, while watching Smallville. I think it's great. At least it's not thursday at nine, to conflict with CSI, or.. um... actually, almost any other night would be ok, at 9. Although I do like House...

The Inside has only been greenlit for 13 episodes, which is basically just June through August, when new episodes of Alias will NOT be on. After it is established in the ratings, who knows where they might put it in the fall. If they were waiting until fall to start the show and put it up against Alias then; that would be a problem. But over the summer - not so much.

Besides, the show sounds great. If it turns out to be anything like Tim described it, I'd watch it over Alias anyway.

*shrug*

I'd maybe believe it if they hadn't make the same kinda noises about Wonderfalls.

Keep in mind, Tim and Joss trused fux on Firefly, and got screwed.

Joss learned a lesson here, moved on.

Tim went with Wonderfalls, trusted fux again.. what happened ?

Come ON people! - can you really in any way convince yourself that this isn't prelude to disaster ? honestly ?

Me, I've consigned fux to the same place on dial as those empty channels, programmed the chan select to just skip right on over it, and be damned to them - I dun watch TV, and my wife hates em, soooo...

Don't get your hopes up, folk - if it's any good, you know fux will crap all over it.

How many lessons is it gonna take ?

Even if (when?) Fox does mismanage it... it will have a very happy life in DVD land where rumors of a big screen adaptation will abound. If Wonderfalls, which was mismanaged perhaps most effectively, can make it to DVD, pretty much any cancelled show can.

That being said, I'd say this is different from Firefly or Wonderfalls. Firefly was a niche show, a scifi western. And as good as the show may be when you say "scifi western" to a lot of people in the masses, they don't care. Wonderfalls, while a bit more mainstream, was still a quirky, unique show that might not have overwhelming appeal. This, however, is right up the general public's ally, especially the way Fox sees it. It sounds like 24, Alias, and law & Order all wrapped up into one... and how could Fox not like that?

As for Tim's motivations, I imagine when you find a project you enjoy, and can use as a creative outlet, not to mention a source of income, you're very interested in using that opportunity. Also, while this is probably an exception for The Inside, as I understand it, a studio signs a deal with a show, and the concept is then shopped around to the networkds. So when you agree to a development deal, you're not agreeing to a network. And if Fox is the only broadcast outlet interested in your show, what would you do?

There just might be life in this show, but we'll see.

Ah, but I think that Tim has learned his lesson.

It sounds like the show could have enough sex and violence to keep the Fox execs happy for a while...

Personally, I'm interested - we'll see what it looks like...
