We're having a fire! A BONfire... no, make that a Browncoat Bonfire.

When: May 27 (Friday before Memorial Day)
Time: 6:30P - 7:00P and we party till the sun rises in the east (Per Knibblet)
Location: MoonMagick's Backyard
Moon said: "Can't wait - this will be great!!!!"

You can RSVP here or send an e-mail to: channain@yahoo.com

(sound of trumpets . . . )
Address
317 Michigan Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55012
Right off of Saint Clair/Cliff Road and West 7th Street (very close to downtown Saint Paul)
Minneapolis Folk: Do not fear Saint Paul! Do not - I repeat - DO NOT trust MapQuest. I'm thinking it's an Alliance-run establishment. If
you need more exact directions, go to http://www.randmcnally.com.

We'll get to...
Innaugurate the spanking new MN Firefly Yahoo! board (there's a link at the bottom of this post!)
Hang out, enjoy good food and get to know our fellow Minnesota Browncoats!
Celebrate the pre-screening, which will have happened the night before (and don't nobody tell me the end - Channain)
Send off Moon's house in style - why? Cuz that's where the fire pit is, but she's moving.

All Browncoats, their significant others, friends and converts are invited! You don't have to even own a brown coat to join in.

Please bring: Your beverage of choice (alcoholic and/or otherwise), something to grill and maybe something in a dish, a jar, a box or a bag to share.

We're planning on having my grill going (note to self: go to home depot and buy a can of propane). Bring the meat of your choice for the carnage.

Moon will have the bonfire in the firepit. We'll be providing all the makings for smores.

Michael and Dayna have a HUGE yard for kids to run around on with a second firepit.

We'll have music and (if I remember to charge the battery) and we'll be projecting Firefly DVD's onto the garage wall.

A kind word turneth away wrath, but not as well as superior firepower

Taking into account the dismal success rate for marriage (50%) and the awesome success rate for our bonfires (185%) ... you should skip the nuptuals in favor of hijinks :)

Taking the opportunity to bump this up for the Minnesota browncoats who may be new as of last night and maybe weren't aware.

Please note the Awesome Success Rate...

Channain's email sent out to the Minnesota Independents re. last evening's bonfire:

Once again, a SHINY time was had by all! Laura and Barbara (Knibblet) hosted an excellent browncoat affair, with our largest attendance to date.

Damon, Becki (Dacute1), Travis, Laura and Barbara and I were from the Original Nine that met way back in October at the Spyhouse. Laura's sister was in attendance, as was Laura's boyfriend Tom who, although he bore a strong resemblance to Stich Hessian, was a sweetheart, and apparently freshly introduced to the 'verse. WarMaster was there as well - he has attended bonfires before, and welcomed the Browncoats to Laura's backyard even as he kept adding wood to the fire. Travis brought a convert - whose name I didn't get, but if you're on the board somewhere, let me know - I'll pour the same really fresh wine that I'm always distributing over on FFF.net. We were also joined by Kate and Nathan, who I met at the Episode III premiere last week. They are members of a local all-genre sci-fi group called The Knights of the Northern Realm, and when they invited me to be part of their group, I happily reciprocated. We can expect to see them again in the future, particularly since they're planning a Knights viewing party of Firefly. We'll be marking that on the calendar.

Speaking of that - turns out we'll be moving soon. Yahoo! has served us well thus far, but
our very own WarMaster is taking steps to give us our own space on the Internet and
futher our identity as Minnesota Browncoats. We'll be announcing the changeover within
the next week or so, once he has all the techno-savvy particulars hammered out.

Other big plans were discussed around the fire as well - Travis reminded me of his friend
with the screen-printing machine that would enable us to produce more cool gear. A
creative team may be gathered together as a result of this (Sara?) and you should be
seeing more results from us soon.

Discussion about the screening did not get into full force until about 11:00P when the
marshmallows came out. Heather did indeed join us last night, brave soul that she is, and
let us go on about the screening even though she hadn't seen it. We did talk about ALL of
it, apologizing appropriately when too much was obviously revealed. Heather enlightened
us to the notion that if she didn't want to hear the spoilers, she could just leave, but then
of course she would miss out on the party.

Laura and Barbara's neighbors were also with us during the evening, as well and the hands-
down absolutely cutest puppy in the 'verse - Sam, aka Sammy Jammy puppy toes. Basset
hound and border collie and possibly a couple other breeds combined into a compact,
wavy furred sweet face little guy. He can nibble off my plate any time.

Singing was done, dancing was done, and not too many marshmallows were torched.
Thanks again to Laura and to Barbara for putting it together for us, and to everyone who
attended. I think it's safe to say a good time was had by all.

Keep flying!
