Yeah, someone pointed out on Whedonesque that the Seattle tix are selling from someone in Nebraska. I checked the history, and that seller did the same thing with the earlier screenings, too. Nice, huh?

Important people don't do field work.

Those aren't Browncoats...Those are internet savvy people aware that Firefly has such a huge and loyal following that some people would be desperate for a ticket...What a bunch of BULLSHIT!!!

If I have extra tickets then I'm giving them away to other Browncoats for free. Period. This gorram scalping is disgusting.

I still think it would be rutting cool if the top 3 bidders for each of these actually refused to pay/strung along the seller/etc. so these slimy scalpers couldn't profit from their evil ways...

Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.

Anyone want to create a bunch of fake Ebay accounts so we can bid, not pay, and give him a whole bunch of negative feedback? Can we do that?

Also, are there any rules on Ebay that prevent people from selling tickets to events outside of where they're selling from? There really should be something like that.

Argh, really want to do like in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, find where these guys live and beat the crap out of them.

As I posted in another thread, I am very much hoping (in vain, perhaps) that no one who calls her/himself a Browncoat will support these unscrupulous scalpers by buying tickets from them for anything more than what was originally paid for them.

I would love to see scalpers outside the theaters having to keep lowering their prices because no one will buy their ill-got gains.

And yes, they will be going to that *Special* Hell.

THRILLHOUSE

I agree, the scalping thing deffinately isn't cool.

However, it's also not cool for all of the people who bought tickets for themselves and all of their friends to see the BDM for the third time.

I thouught one of the reasons for "Can't Stop The Signal" was to help build the audience base for the movie.

I'm not knocking anyone, but it stinks that there are people who are seeing it for the third time, while other people can't see it at all (at least for now).

Here here! I too am dismayed and have been so since the second screening by people proudly announcing that they are buying tickets to go for a second or third time when most of us haven't been able to snag tix for a first time. Not on the order of scalpers certainly, but wrong nonetheless.

Open letter to Joss (even though he doesn't necessarily read the board, so this is to all of you, too.)

Joss,

I think the serenity pre-screenings are the best guerilla marketing tactic I've seen, ever. I want to commend you for your vision and ability to both tell a story, but also to motivate your fans to support it, and move mighty studios to give us something other than re-hashed formulae.

I want to see a pre-screening. I do. I really do. But I will still tell people about Serenity, even if I can't. My Firefly DVD set is now out on loan for the second time, and I have the trailer downloaded onto my system so I can show people who come over. I tell people my honest opinion of things, with or without special incentives.

What I won't do is support the pirates--the scalpers. I won't line their pockets--I'd rather line yours!

I am a professional--I can afford $25, or even $50, a ticket without batting an eye. But I don't want to see anyone but the _right_ folks profit from your dream--You, the cast and crew, and the studios and distributors who invested in your vision.

If you EVER do another pre-screening, please use an eBay dutch auction. That is, everyone bids what they are willing to pay for tickets, and everyone gets it at the lowest winning price. For a fourth showing, you might see $12-20 per ticket for places like Seattle, that have had three opportunities already, maybe more for other venues. But I want my money to go to YOU, not to some scumbag no-value-added middleman. I want to see the real price I pay get reflected in the "take"--not a $10 seat for which I paid $25.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Clemens

Don't know if it's the same guy, but there's an eBay seller in Nebraska selling a block of 15 Boston tkts for (so far) $182.50 with the reserve still not even met yet!

Unfortunately, the rule with eBay is that if they ARE within the state an event takes place, they can only charge $2 above the face value or be a licensed broker. If they are out of the same state as the event, they can charge as much as someone is willing to pay.

Did anyone hear about the screw-up in Boston? Fandango, which was not supposed to put the tickets up for sale until after 9am somehow posted the active link at 1230am. The tickets were gone in 5 minutes and now a large number of them are showing up, guess where? ...on eBay.

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

That's an interesting idea. I'd like to see what tickets would go for, @the various locations.
