America loves a winner!

Finally caught an episode of it after missing the first two...(?) It was great seeing Kate and Adam on the screen again. And Carrie Preston!(No cheesy fries though )

Is anyone keeping a tally of how many references to other shows they're dropping ? I think I saw a thread here about 'hands of blue', the gloves that crime scene folks wear. Well, on just tonights episode, I observed -

More Hands of Blue

Angel - name of a neighbor girl's cat.

Something else , but my mind just went blank.....ummm.

Oh, and in the preview of next weeks ep about why a killer cut open a victim ..." to see what's inside? "

Ahhh.....REAVERS!!!

The movie that stalker-guy was watching people come out of: Once More With Feeling (name of the Buffy Musical).

Best moment for me wasn't really a reference though (I don't think). When Danny gave the kid the pointer on proper (toy) gun handling (hand under the grip). That was cute and Jayne-esque.

That was my favorite part, too. I miss Jayne.

My show is too pretty to die.

My favorite part so far was Danny interrogating the effeminate man in the second episode. The guy was talking about how anal his boss was (must have used the word 'anal' about 4 times in his sentence), and Danny just stared at him for a while and said something to the effect of "You don't say..." It seemed like a very Jayne thing to do. I couldn't stop laughing.

btw, saw a preview for "Bones" (The new David Boreanaz show) during "The Inside". It looked really good from the ad.

I wish more people were watching this show, so it would hopefully stay on the air. The show is great on its own, but with the added bonus of all the Firefly, Angel, and Buffy references to look for, it's absolutely FANtastic. People who aren't watching this are really missing out.

I haven't kept track exactly, but I think there have been at least two references to either Firefly, Angel, Buffy, or some combination of the three in each episode, so far.

Oh, and the characters are really interesting and well-written, too - not like the cardboard characters on CSI and Law & Order. If you liked Jayne on Firefly, you'll like Adam Baldwin as Danny on The Inside. He's not exactly the same, of course, but he has a lot of similarities. Plus, Katie Finneran is hilarious. Her reaction to Web's joke about seizing the (Angel) cat (as evidence) broke me up.

I sure hope this show picks up enough viewers to stay on the air. Remember folks, it's on F*X.

The whole cat jumping out of a chest and startling a character has been done on Buffy, too. The two scenes are similar enough that I expected the cat, loved how it was named Angel BTW, to jump out.

And I couldn't stop laughing when I saw the name of the play or movie at the theatre. I can't wait for the episodes written by former Buffy,Angel, and Firefly writers. I suspect there will be more references to come.

Although it wasn't a reference to the Joss 'verse, in the second episode, the building where the Violent Crimes Unit is housed was named the Hollis Mulwray Federal Building.

Hollis Mulwray is the husband of Faye Dunaway's character in Chinatown, and it's his murder that sets the plot in motion.

Loving The Inside. Lots of alumni from former shows. The nun from Wonderfalls (penguin episode)in this ep, I think someone on another board said the woman in the preview for next week was Jaye's family's housekeeper. And Amber Benson "Tara" in episode 11. plus all the fun references like "Once More With Feeling".

The ad for "Bones" looked interesting, but I kept thinking, "it's daylight, shouldn't he be bursting in to flames."

There was a screencap from The Inside on a few weeks ago. If I do remember correctly, the "Once More With Feeling" marquee has an image of Nathan and Morena about to kiss towards the right. But somebody will want to check on that.

Thank you so much for your post. I kept looking at that name and thinking I should know it; like it had a certain familiarity, but I just couldn't place it. Thanks for clearing that up.

Oh yeah, I was gonna say more about Kate. She's STUNNING w/ red hair. And her experssions are priceless!

( Think I'll get my Wonderfalls DVDs back and watch 'em this weekend )

Don't forget Michael McElroy. He's the boy who played the blond son Cody last night. He was on Angel in "The Magic Bullet" I thought he looked familiar. (At first I thought he was the boy who played the kid from the first year of Angel who was evil and holding the demon hostage. Then tried to burn down his house... It threw me for a little while last night because I began to think the Prefiler was after him and not the dad.)

Oh, I didn't recognize him at all. Of course, he's, what, about three years older now? So I'll excuse myself for that reason.

The other thing I just thought of about the cat... Here's this little girl who obviously misses her lost cat, Angel, a lot - symbolic of how Angel fans feel about the show. There's also something about how Rebecca finds him locked in the box in the attic and what she says to the cat at that time that must be symbolic about the show. I need to re-watch it to try to figure that one out.

I love this show more and more with each episode.

I thought he was after one of the kids too! Showing off his profiling skills by going after a child. Trying to see if Locke would figure it out.

Oh well...from the preview, it looks like we get some evil child action next week.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I am really enjoying The Inside. Finally got a couple of friends to check it out last night. They really got into it by the end. Loaned them the taped copies of the first two episodes so they can catch up.

I keep looking out for the references to Firefly & other Joss shows. Totally missed the cat's name being Angel. Not sure how.

Yes, you're right. I kept thinking that it had to somehow be an "Angel" reference, but it's not. Funny, this was the third episode of "The Inside" and they referenced all the way back to the third episode of Buffy, "The Witch". In that one, Giles is startled when he lets a black cat out of a chest in the attic. No wonder, when Rebecca does the same thing, she says to herself, "What do you expect? Dummy." Now I get it.

I am kinda disappointed that the audio dub dropped a bit (visible in the closed-captioning).

When Whatshisname was questioning/taunting Danny (profiling him), the audio followed the focus-shift to Web & Locke, but the CCs showed Danny's (annoyed) response:

"Do you have a history of violence?"
"Try me."

Struck me as somethin' Jayne might say.

And, if you play the tape back in slow-mo... At the very beginning of that segment, when they first show the theatre marquee in the rain, look to the right of the "Once More With Feeling" lettering. There on the right end of the marquee, larger than life, is a picture of Mal and Inara about to kiss - no kidding. Take a look....

EDIT: I just noticed that the picture is a lot clearer after the commercial, when it's not raining. When Mel, Danny and Paul are walking under the marquee, you can clearly see that Mal and Inara are right above them.

EDIT2: Sorry, I just noticed that someone else had already mentioned the Mal/Inara sighting in a post above. I missed seeing that before.

So this episode has references to Firefly, Angel, and Buffy. Three for three.

Yes! I was laughing when I saw that part. He was correcting his muzzle discipline though (muzzle down, not up). Showing the kid to hold the pistol at low-ready the way the pros do it. Also gives the shooter a better line of sight and lets him acquire a target faster.

Me too! And for a minute or so, because of the wife's initial responses, I was wondering if it was HER stuff in the trunk......

I am liking this show more and more! And I love the Wonderfalls alum reunions. Now, if only they'd have a villain who kills with exploding cell phones...

I'm really liking this show. Besides all the hints for the long time fans to find, last night's story was good in of itself.

I liked the pre-filer's conversation with the guy in the car, how he was inside his head.

Defintely worth a re-watch.
