BLUEBOMBER

I haven't seen anybody do a thread on the new comic. Sorry if this one's been done before.

I stopped by a local comic store today and was just browsing around when the shop owner pointed out that he'd just gotten a new comic in. Imagine my surprise when I found out he was talking about "Serenity!" I didn't even realize it was out; I hadn't been keeping up with it, to be honest. (The last comic series I bought was Humberto Ramos' "Crimson," and that's been YEARS ago. I've caught a bit of the stuff he's done since then, and I've been a fan of his for a while now.)

Anyway, "Serenity" the comic is really good; a great blend of action and dialogue, taking place (apparently) after "OiS." Will Conrad and Laura Martin do an exceptional job of bringing the familiar "Firefly" verse to this medium. There is, of course, the obligatory bit of exposition for readers who haven't seen the show. Still, the story (by Brett Matthews and his Jossitude) wastes little time getting to the action.

Whoops....kinda sounded a bit like a critic, there. I didn't mean for this to turn into a review. At any rate, I think the comic is good. I was just wondering if you guys have seen it yet.

Oh yeah-- and I ran into a couple of fellow Browncoats while I was at the shop! I was starting to think I was the only Firefly fan left in Arkansas...now I know I'm not alone. Yay!

"Mwah ha ha ha...mine is an evil laugh. Now die."

FORRESTWOLF

I liked it to - fact is, it's really required reading if people want the storyline from the show to the movie - that's what it's been advertised as. And it's pretty cheap, as Firefly memorabilia go.

It was interesting - when I asked one comic book store, the guy said it was all sold out, but that he and others at the shop were big Firefly fans - all looking forward to the movie, and planning on a Firefly party to introduce newcomers. A good sign!

MER

When I called my comic book shop before work asking if they could put the Jayne cover in my folder, they all sold out! Thank god it was the Jayne cover that was in my folder.
All this happened within an hour. They have to get more comics.

I really loved the comic. My only beef is that Mal, Jayne, and Zoe (1st few pgs), Simon, Kaley, and River didn't really look like themselves. It had their aspect of the character thank god, but they didn't really look like themselves.

I'm only bothered with the Chinese in it b/c at some points it's hard to understand what they're
saying. Ex. When Book says a Bible verse, it's in Chinese. Also, the woman firing at Mal, Jayne, and Zoe,
I want to know what they both say.

Oh my favorite part? The big truck. I REALLY didn't expect that to be around in that verse.

As for Cover #1, I LOVE Jayne and like Inara even though she's more endowed than expected...the Mal one just frightens me b/c of the large eyes. In proportion to his face it should be smaller.

X___X *mutters* Damn art school training
