Welp, I watched the TV move (on lifetime). The only reason I watched was to see Sean, and I was so bored with it that I fell asleep.
Did anyone watch it all, and did you like it?

It's not my genre, so I don't think I missed much my falling asleep.I'm sure at least a few browncoats are into liftime movies, though.

It's actually a terrible movie. I only watched it because of Sean and Michele. I must comment, it was like incest with those two. And I couldn't deal with some man man handling my Michele. Lol. I'll always see her as pure and innocent.

I think that'll be the last time I watch Lifetime channel. I don't know how females can watch that station. Lol this is funny for me to say this since I'm a girl...

I was talking to a friend long distance so I had it on with the sound down. Felt like I was pretty much getting it. Simon Tam goes back in time and falls in love with Dawn Summers, right?

Seriously, it looked very predictable but Michelle is getting prettier and prettier as she becomes more womanly. Had no problem with the Michelle/Sean sex scenes. And I thought it was cool seeing two Whedon alums in the same project and getting work.

If you must watch, watch it with the sound off. I kept flipping between that and "101 Things Removed from the Human Body", just because SM is crazy hot. Interestingly enough, though, him dressed and trying to act butch actually makes him look more gay.

well...I was mostly watching 'The Closer' and flipping over,
but I did watch the end of it:
it was a highly sentimental badly written chick flick,
but Michelle looked beautiful
and Sean really brought a wonderful subtle performance.

I can't say it was worth sitting through for Sean's performance,
but if you were going to watch anyway then he actually gives you something worth your while.

I hope to see him some much better things soon!

Yeah I just watched it yesterday. I actually sat through it all except at the beginning it was raining and my satellite didn't have a signal. I agree it was pretty bad and it was pretty weird seeing Dawn and Simon have sex. I always think of Dawn being a little girl and she really isn't that old anyway. Also I think of Michele Trachenburg as Nona from Pete and Pete. She was kind of a bitch in this movie wasn't she? Leaving her paralyzed boyfriend for Simon and then leaving Simon to go back to paralyzed boyfriend. I'm a little used to Lifetime movies because I used to watch them all the time with my mom.

Don't sell yourself short there, Rosenburg. That's your parent's job.

Yes, I must agree. She was a bit mean. I also wondered why she would drop all her hopes and dreams of getting a good education.

I was driving home today and realized that I missed the movie. I kicked myself for missing it but after reading your posts, maybe I shouldn't have done that to myself. I'd still watch it once just to drool over Sean. Maybe, I'd take your advice and watch it with the sound off and fast forward to the Sean parts. Michelle just seems too young to be with him but then, I had a friend in her mid-twenties date a man much older than Sean. Not that I was cheerleading her on or anything. It was one of those horrible older boss in a mid-life crisis picks up his pretty young secretary things. Yech!

Honestly, the age difference wasn't too icky. You really do have to remove them from Joss charecters in your mind though.
I really don't think Sean was cast well. He wasn't in his element. Michelle was belivable.
I still fell asleep, though.

I'd say to watch it once if you really like Sean. Simon wasn't even my favorite character or anything but I still got all excited whenever he came on screen. I thought he was kinda cool. He was articulate and smooth.

What do you mean by he wasn't in his element? I'm curious to hear about what kind of character Sean played in case I don't catch a rerun.

I liked Simon because I could imagine myself being him if I ever found myself in Simon's situation.

The part of Kilroy, (the man Sean played) was that of a rough, tough, very angry man. He needed a haircut and a shave. Sean has a very specific look to him . . .very pretty. He is also very intense.
He just didn't seem right for the part . . . .perhaps someone else can help me out here. OR maybe someone can tell me how wrong i am. I welcome either :).

Hummm. Okay, the movie itself was not exactly art. I'll admit I only watched it because of the two Whedonverse connections. I will watch these people in anything **coughwater'sedgecough**.

As for Sean's performance, I thought he did a great job with the material he was given. I cleared my mind of Simon, though it was hard not to make the occasional comparison. The woman I watched it with (a 64 year old grandmother), who had never seen him before, thought his performance was the best and most interesting. Now she wants to see Firefly!

I would like to have seen the character portrayed as he was written in the book, more still and closed, and less of a jerk - which I am sure Sean could have done beautifully, but writing and directorial decisions changed that character a lot.

As for the look. Grundging him up a bit made it easier to see him as Kilroy, who is described in the book as scruffy by choice.

If you are considering watching this to see Simon, and not Sean the actor, don't bother because you will be disappointed. If you want to see Sean act, then by all means grit your teeth and watch it because watching him slide through a range of emotion is worth the rest of the movie. If you are contemplating watching this for the sheer hottness factor, but have a problem with two actors from different Whedonverse shows cross-pollinating, if you will, then don't!

I agree that Sean has a good ability to act. My favorite example of one of our BDHs playing a part that is totally different than his FF part is Nathan playing Jonny on Two Guys and a Girl. He is so un-Mal-like.

I haven't had the pleasure of "Two Guys and A Girl", but I think I need to see it. Nathan is so talented.

I also agree with your assessment that Sean isn't at his prettiest as Kilroy, but that is okay. He needs to show the world he is more than just a pretty face. That said, it was still impossible to hide the 1000 watt smile under hair, stubble, and attitude.

Here is to seeing ALL our BDH getting roles in well-written, well-directed projects that do more than just pay the bills.

Thank you for the info on his character. Lifetime is re-running the movie on Sunday at 6 p.m. I'll have to watch it for Sean and try to not think of Michelle as Buffy's little sister!
