Personaly I think he is alongside with Nathan the best actor of the crew.

Just take a look at the deleted scene from the original pilot (before Joss made revisions which FOX never looked at). It isn't on the DVD either but here Book comes in with food for Inara but comes accros with a serious answer instead of witty banter.

You can see so rottin clearly in his face both the emotion of being really uncomfterable with Inara's proffesion but at the same time you can see that he knows he must get over it and not judge her.

I saw this much later but before this I thought beforehand that the line 'I think I'm on the wrong ship.' when he talks to Inara so heartbreaking..

And he got so little chance to show skills too, he's not even shown in the trailers... Sad really.

he is a great actor I myself think he is as good as or better then most big movie stars and if i got to meet one of the crew i would have to choose Ron Glass because Idk he seems so down to earth and he just amazing he is a very under rated actor of are time

I think he is so deadpan funny! Love his delivery! I remember him from the old days of Barney Miller. He cracks me up! Count me in as a fan.

But, on a side note: I didn't recognize him at first in the show. My husband did.

I recall being quite excited upon seeing Ron Glass as a cast member when FIREFLY began and my only exposure to his acting was from his role on BARNEY MILLER, but I loved him! I am very excited to be able to meet him this year at Dragon*Con, moreso from having more of a connection to a character from when I was a kid than to his role of Book. Strange, I am sure. But I have yet to be called normal :)

Another one here who remembers Ron from Barney Miller. Oddly enough, he was always my favorite character on that show. The idea of a clotheshorse cop just seemed sort of cool.

A really terrific actor -- and like so many actors who don't fit in with the usual H'wood archetypes/ethnic types, a very underutilized one.
