So, SciFi has been running this preview--I'm not sure whether it's for a series or a special--called Bloodsuckers. Okay, I thought, another vampire flick.

And then I noticed that it seems to involve spaceships. Grungy spaceships. Grungy spaceships with scruffy gun-toting crew members dressed in a melange of western and military surplus . . . and they're fighting vampires.

It's like they held a committee meeting and said, "Hey, Joss Whedon has a really devoted fanbase. What are his shows about? Hmm, a vampire-killer and a bunch of scruffy cowboys in a grungy spaceship. That must be the essence of genius!"

Am I alone in having this impression?

I had a quick look around and it was supposed to be released march 2005? Has it been and gone?

Anyway Michael Ironside is in it and he has been in a lot of crap...

Still.. Intergalactic Vampire hunters.. sounds promising.

America loves a winner!

Does sound a bit suspect, now that you mention it.

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Like nearly all sci-fi channel original movies, it should probably be avoided like the plague =P.

I figure I'll watch it. If it surprises me and is enjoyable, cool. If it sucks, I can enjoy dissecting their failure to get what it is that made Firefly and BtVS hits.

I noticed tonight that some of the shots had very Firefly-esque camera flares. Hmmmm . . .

I can't reply to your second question, but yes, that's Ron Glass who was on Barney Miller.

Welcome to Firefly Fandom, btw.
