New to the site. Looking for someone to show me around. I know the geography of Serenity, but not this site. Havin' a little trouble. Hope someone can help me out.

welcome to our wonderful world! I assume you are familiar with Firefly, not just Serenity?

We are a fantastic group of people. If you aren't easily scared come over to the Serenity2 is there blubber?.

For navigation the easiest thing is to look at the top 100 thread list and get to know the kind of topics and general language (hint: BDM = Big Damn Movie and BDH = Big Damn Heroes).

There is also the Blue Sun Room and the Blogs can be fun.

When you read the threads watch out for the same people - our personalities all come through when you have read a few of our posts and it helps when writing your own responses to personalise (that can take a while though so don't worry if you don't).

Reckon I should say Howdy to a stranger who steps up & says "Howdy". So, "Hey". I'm not good @explainin' navigation on this site, 'cause I remember, when I first got here, lookin' @the home page & sayin' "Wow, this is the best organized fan site I've ever seen" (or words to that effect -- everything seemed to do what, or go where, it said). The only surprise I can recall is that the Blue Sun room is structured more like the Blue Sun wing, with (I think four) different rooms within it. When you go to an item in the Blue Sun room, the list of recent items on the left are all of the same type as the one you selected (eg all images or, alternatively, all fanfic). Since I'm interested in Firefly images, not much in fanfic, and not@all in other Blue Sun room items, I'm glad Haken separated 'em.

Jus' click on stuff that looks interesting. I'm sure that, in not time @all, it will seem natural.

Howdy, Afterglow,

Put in a little exploration time, and it will probably become clear. One thing I didn't know at the beginning was that the Blue Sun Room is where you can post filk, fanfic, art, and other stuff you want to have stick around.

The threads in the top 10 bubble up to the top according to how recently someone has commented on them, so sometimes to keep something current (for instance, info about Dragon*Con), a poster will periodically comment with the word "bump."

I find that if you want a comment to last a little longer on the front page, you can put it in a log. Of course, if everyone uses that trick, it won't work anymore. :-)

Not much else to add, except that you should try and read some of the old archived threads, whenever you get a chance. Some of them are really interesting. Also, feel free to pop into the chat whenever you have a question. Don't be afraid to "interrupt". Everyone is quite nice.

Thank all of you for the kindnesses. I've been looking around the site and have taken everyone's friendly advice. I'll write more soon in other threads. And, BTW, it is my sweetheart to blame seeing as how he lent me the DVD set and I'll just buy him a new one. I haven't destroyed it, but the case got a little squashed,,,,,discs are in the wrong sleeve........
