JAWS

Hi. I have loved this story since it first aired and was abruptly cancelled. I was estactic when I saw the sci-fi promo's for it.

One question of mine still has no awnser.

After the movie are there plans to re-start the tv series? Or are they just using the movie to complete the story that was left hanging open.

Sci-fi has been awesome of late for injecting life into series that other networks want to end. (Andromeda, Stargate)

Jaws, Fox owns all the Television rights and they have no intention of going back into production with it.
Universal only bought the movie rights and I believe they plan sequels if this first movie does well enough (it doesn't have to do 'Star Wars' good, because the budget wasn't that huge).

Of course money, and the prospect of making more money, can alter contracts. Fox and Universal could easily work out a deal for bringing the show back in some form if they are motivated by huge fan response (my personal dream).

Joss has a lot of stories to tell, I won't mind if they have to be told in comic book form, but I would rather have Television (it is more satisfying for an impatient fan like me who hates to wait years for the next BDM).

All the actors' contracts are for three movies. When Serenity is a success, Universal will greenlight the next two movies and they will be created (questions of when they'll be filmed, etc. aren't being answered until we know such films will exist).

Every public statement from Joss has indicated he has no desire to go back to television at this point, meaning that seeing new TV episodes of Firefly is very unlikely.

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

20th Century Fox, that is. FOX (the network) has no rights to Firefly; any rights they purchased from 20th Century Fox expired when they (FOX) cancelled the series.

nobody really knows lol. We just have to keep our hopes up, and keep making noise, so people know about us, and our belief in the story. :)

RETRO

All I'll say is that after reading Serenity issues 1 & 2, Joss NEEDS to keep this going in comic form, no matter what else transpires.
Heck, what I would love to see is a series that starts with the Serenity Pilot, tells the stories through Objects in Space, and then continues with the stories Joss would have told had the show not ended. His way, by his rules.

I just got Andromeda season 4 and started *trying* to watch it and I'd say your reviews are spot-on. I was so hopeful too...
As far as Firefly back on tv? How about Firefly on DVD? Done! A "Firefly" movie? From a cancelled show? Are you nuts?! It CAN'T happen! Hell yeah done! But Fox owns the rights and so it will never, ever be back on TV... come on! None of the above could happen but they did! Keep the faith!
Firefly is great as a comic but WE ALL KNOW it belongs/is best served on the toobage.

Totally agree on that chrisisall!

I am beginning to think the story arc of Andromeda is Kevin Sorbos unending quest to mate with any species in sight thus creating Sorbo/alien hybrids throughout the galaxy. He even mated with a photonic lifeform at one stage if I remember correctly... pfft.

Andromeda lost me long ago.

There where a few good episodes though. My favourite was the 2 parter starting with the last ep for season 1 and first ep of season 2.

All I want to see is: 30 more eps of Firefly. The storey of Simon and River (if it is based on outlaws running from Federal Marshalls in the 1800's) has to end soon.

Thus I figured 2 - 5 years max. Yes, there is so much happening behind the scenes that we don't know all what Joss had in mind, but I do not think it was a "Gilligan's Island" in the sky type verse.

Just my two cents.

The series creator has his own website where he tells where he would've taken it, too bad he was fired after S1, it might have turned out to be one of the best series ever done, almost the equal of Firefly, even.

Tribune buttwipes...

It's www.rhwolfe.com , but the site isn't working for some reason....?
It was a short scene that would have ended the series, and was kinda 2001-like in that it centered around Trance and her being the key to a new universe or something, and that all universes have a point where rebirth is necessary...
I'm mangling it up, it was cooler to read. Maybe it'll come back, or maybe Tribune had it shut off 'cause they're shmoes and didn't like him writing about characters they own...
That would be par for the course.
