This was taken from a preview of Universal's fall movie slate.

Huh?

Methinks someone should educate themselves before they make such a pronounced statement.

Well, at least he has Serenity in the right position, At The Top.

This could actually be a good sign. With all the buzz we've created, people who want to appear cool are going to slam Serenity just to appear "above it all".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Appears they've cancelled the show and we're still here. What does that make us?"
"Big damn junkies, Sir!"
"Ain't we just."
I think there's going to be a lot of people eating their words when Serenity comes out. Even if it isn't a big hit, the quality of it will get through to people and people who stick with their preconceptions are likely to face an increasingly hostile reaction.
May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.
I wouldn't worry too much about it FC3k. These self proclaimed "critics" are entitled to their own opinions, even if they are uneducated and wrong.
It'll be us laughing in the end when Serenity is a success & gets us a pair of sequels.
Please take into consideration the following statement, also in the same blurb:
"As for TWO FOR THE MONEY starring Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey...I honestly haven't heard shit about this movie, but it looks pretty interesting so far."
Now, let's look at the pictures, shall we? The one related to what he calls "bad sci-fi" has four characters, unusually dressed (because, frankly, River's goggles aren't everyday attire), in an unusual-looking vehicle. All four actors are relatively unknown to the masses (even though Adam Baldwin has been around forever in supporting parts).
The next picture is the one for the movie he dubs "pretty interesting so far." It's two guys in suits. Sitting at a table. Only difference is, the two guys are easily recognizable. See my point here?
When "Serenity" kicks box office ass, and gets us the sequels, I'll find a way to personally bring this idiot a huge serving of Crow... knife and all.
MAL: If anyone gets nosy, just, you know... shoot 'em.
ZOE: Shoot 'em?
MAL: Politely.
Well, I don't know about you all, but I've seen far more bad TV Sci-Fi shows than good ones. But I can't necessarily tell the difference from stills and clips.
I think the concern here is not that Serenity is just like a bad TV Sci-Fi program, but that it "keeps looking" like one.
As for me, I reflect on the fact than any "Joe Blow" on the planet can throw up a web site these days, and start filling it with his/her/its opinions on any number of things. Don't mean they know spit about what they're describing, though.
I seem to remember that JoBlo.com has a history of snarky comments about Firefly. I also recall seeing him write about how many replies he's gotten. I think he's trying to make sure that his site gets lots of hits by riling the Browncoats. :-) Good strategy, really.
Well, would you looked at who swung their engine into reverse gear?
Be warned, those pages contain movie photos although nothing too spoilerific.
Granted, it's not JoBlo himself commenting but at least someone on his staff has good taste.
What do ya need a knife for, didn't we kick him through an engine ?
I'd say he's pretty well diced already - try a spoon.
Lots of movie fanboys are tv snobs. The fact that Serenity is adapted from a television show is probably all they need to start dissing it.
Some Browncoats are probably not going to be as happy with Serenity as they would have been with several more tv seasons either. Firefly started out with a kind of storytellilng perfect for television. Adapting it to movie form may feel like a cheat. I'm already steeling myself for such a reaction.
Me too. I want my Firefly back! I hope my bitterness on this subject doesn't get taken out on the film.
