GENERAL DISCUSSIONS

So has ANYBODY seen an advertisement for Serenity on TV? (besides Sci-FI) You would think they should start showing by now.

Nope! Seein' Corpse Bride trailers now. Thinkin' that's why the polls are as they are. Gettin' a mite worried about not seeing any trailers/advertisements anywhere.

Just wait out the weekend or so, and we'll start seeing stuff pop up.

You know, there may be something about a movie not being splattered all over the media ad-nauseum... ya know? Sometimes movies get rammed down your throat, and perhaps maintaining a "once-in-a-while-you-see-a-trailer" kind of thing isn't so bad.

Maintains cult status, but piques new interest as well...

Am I way off here?

I've heard that the “Big” marketing push starts on the 15th, two weeks before the film officially opens. Which I hear is typical for low/medium budget movies.

While there's nothing scientific about my observations, it seems to me that the movies that get advertised like mad, over and over, filling the airways.... usually suck.

I firmly believe in an inverse relationship between the quality of a movie and the amount of advertising seen for it in general. That said of course, there still has to be a certain amount to get the general public involved. I'm not worried yet.

not worried just curious. Strange as it would sound. I really don't watch that much tv.

I was actually going to see 'The Brothers Grimm' until I saw the trailer 5 times during an hour long tv program.
So no, I'm not sweatin' the promos. Easy does it.

While it may not be scientific, I agree with you. The more a film is pushed at folk from all sides, you just know it's gonna be bad; they're tryin' too hard.

I expect, we'll see trailers on TV in teh next week or two. I imagine Nathan will be on a few talk shows, but not many. Somehow I doubt any of the others will (which is a shame I'd love to hear some stories from Sean for example, I haven't found much from him)

The Australian Empire Movie magazine has the back page featuring the Serenity disc, there is a shiny complementary dvd with 'Train Job' ep, a Starfury doco, a deliciously shiny phot gallery and a couple of trailers.
Nothing on TV as yet, but I only watch the ABC (Australia and they don't do ads)
That's rather promotional wouldn't you say? And yes, I agree trailers every other minute seems to be in direct proportion to the weakness of the film. (Think I got that right)
Only 20 days to go and I'll be seeing Serenity
