hope you enjoy this read. :blast

Space orientated shows until now have never been my alltime favourite tv shows. The oldies like Lost in Space, Buck Rogers, Battlestar Gallactica(old) and Star Trek(old) were good but still they to me were saturday afternoon fillers for boredom or rain and nothing more.....plz dont hunt me down and kill me for those comments hehe.

Moving in to todays era of tv i enjoyed Star Trek: NG,V, DS9 but slightly disliked Enterprise and i never fully enjoyed Babylon 5 although great in its own way or even Andromeda which i hated along with Lexx which i detest. i enjoyed the new Battlestar Gallactica but it to me was more like a rehash of a tv show i mention further down than a remake of old tv Gallactica. I could stomach small doses of Farscape but even those i wouldnt rush home to tape or take a day off work to watch. only two other shows apart from Firefly have been great. Stargate:SG1 similar humour to Firefly with Richard Dean Anderson providing the humour we all needed to see. and Space: Above and Beyond another show cancelled before its time and was a joy to watch and the further down mentioned show. shows i just had to watch. And on different note i include Red Dwarf but i love this as comedy not as just sci fi

With Firefly its a different story. this show became a religion to me, i loved every aspect of it and was addicted to it....and still am. i was a fan of Buffy and Angel and was sad to see Angel get cancelled. the show had a bumpy ride but finally found its feet and was a great show but then boom they send in the FOX hunter.

Now not being bothered about seeing Firefly at first what attracted me?. well hearing it was a joss whedon show it already has a plus, the man is in a league of his own when talking about the shows he has done. i am an X-Files fan so i would say he is one of the greats alongside chris carter.

another thing that attracted me was hearing Nathan Fillion was in it. i loved Two Guys and a Girl.......the series i mean. and Ryan Reynolds is a Christopher Walken impersonation god btw. but Nathan to me has great qualities of character to bring leadership and humour and seriousness in to a role without making it look fake. with him it is natural.

Also a reason i started to watch it was hearing Adam Baldwin was in it aswell. the guy is just a great person to watch on screen he brings a lot to the table. he has this quality of character that i would say is a two of a kind along with John C McGinley of Scrubs they both bring a tough walking and talking character along with a humour that is natural and not an ability many actors have.

The final reason is the best ...the theme tune. i watched the first episode already interested and intrigued by it but the second the theme tune came on i fell in love. it just closes the deal. it serenity was a product then joss whedon is the greatest salesman on the planet cos he sold it to me.

Now when hearing the show was ending its run it was like hearing that your christmas has been cancelled. i would rather be dumped that feel that kind of stomach churning pain. horrific. its a crime against storytelling and they should make it a new law to first run it by the fans before deciding....i wish..

But to cut a long story short it was cancelled and i felt lost and bewildered. no idea what to do and no idea what to watch without feeling that im just filling in for Firefly gaps in my life. i get involved with the story of every programme i watch as it is the only way to understand it for what it is. i dont talk during a programme, i dont take breaks, i dont even blink....ok i do blink :). But cancelling it was criminal. its like walking up to a person reading a great book with a great storyline with twists and turns only to take it from them and burn it. now they cant finish the story, only being able to read half a book means you only get to know half the story and end up with feeling of loss and emptyness......did the butler do it?

Come on world i mean writers dont write a story where the publisher says half way through the creation oh sorry but we need to publish now as we dont feel the book is what we want, so we should publish what you have got and move on. no. there are no half written books. so why half written programmes. i dont know.

Anyway its cancelled but maybe a ray of hope for the world of serenity to continue.

The movie Serenity looks good. and i cant wait to see it and its cheered me up no end, im feeling happy and its like waiting for christmas morning to come and from what i hear people who havent even seen the show think it looks good and want to see it. i think the movie will be a boxoffice sucess and show everyone how good the series was and their comes the dilema for fox. if the movie does well.....and it will (ill make sure and go to all six cinemas near me and buy every seat....oh ok maybe just two seats money permitting) then what will happen, if it becomes a success they have to cash in somehow with either a sequel or a rebirth of the series surley? or shirley if shes in.

I believe there is a glimmer of hope for us fans that there is a chance something good is coming to makes us all happy....if not ya can linch me for spreading false hope. i really pray something happens. Example i mean not long ago there was a series called Due South another great show cancelled by the so called experts that was great to watch and also buried before its time.....but suddenly after a cry from fans and other unknown happenings the show was reborn after another television company the BBC bought the show and began to make the new series. there is hope and anything can happen. if every fan gave 1 quid or 1 dollar depending on where ya from then they would see how many fans there are. a concept that probably wouldnt work on Dr Vegas raising the 2 dollar needed from both fans.

There are so many questions that we have left unanswered and so many things we want to see like.

1. what is sheps secret who is he and what is he.
2. the river conspiracy
3. will mal and inara get it on
4. will kaylee and doc get it on
5. will jayne and his gun get it on (kiddin)
6. jayne kicking some ass.
7. appearance of reavers
8. doc maybe building a connection with the central hospital.
9. wash and zoe get some spotlight adventure together
10. will Jubal Early make miraculous return
11. saffron causing more problems
12. return of Niska and his regime
13. unlucky number so i wont put anything about the show.
14. more stories not connected to river.
15. just to see the firefly again and the family they have built.

If ive missed anything sorry... plz add.

final thoughts: there is a story and a world that needs to live on and breathe. characters that cant just disappear in to our memories. firefly is a existence that needs to be awoken and allowed to tell its story. Firefly i love you

thank you for reading.

Wow you asked a mouthfull!

I think I'll just address the thread title:
I hope Serenity makes embarassingly large stacks of cash, Joss rules over Hollywood (and calls it...This Land), and we get Firefly movies 2x a year for the next ten years!

It MIGHT happen!
I have that feeling.

HJERMSTED

Best case scenario:

Serenity wins one or two weekends and builds an audience sleeper hit style going on to become one of the only hollywood success stories of 2005.

By x-mas, Universal happily greenlights two sequels to be filmed concurrently.

Fox TV begs Joss to bring Firefly back to the small screen. Joss gives Fox TV the middle finger, re-opens the Mutant Enemy offices and spins off a new series taking place within the Firefly universe... all of the Serenity actors are invited to join the cast and most do. Co-creator Tim Minear assumes command and produces 13 episodes annually for BBC and Sci Fi channel with an option to broadcast on NBC (similar to Battlestar's NBC option). Mutant Enemy alumns David Fury, Jane Espenson, Drew Goddard and Ben Edlund return to the fold.

Joss writes and directs the Serenity films. He even guest writes and/or directs an ep of the TV version each season when taking a vacation from his exploding movie career.

There you go.

How's that for a totally achievable fantasy?

What you said and doubled, too much Firefly is barely enough (to paraphrase HG and Roy)
