One of my favorite elements of Firefly is the fantastic dialog that Whedon, Minear and company come up with. The dialog is delivered in a very natural, flowing way (thanks to some great acting) but if you listen, its astoundingly deep at times. The joy of words for their own sake seems to come through.

Anyway, I was just curious if Buffy or Angel dialog has the same kind of poetic sensibilities.

The short answer is: Yes! Different words, but same approach.

Both Buffy and Angel have a great deal of fun with the language and create an enjoyable cadence in their delivery.

In Firefly we rabid fans spend time translating the Chinese dialogue bits. Angel and Buffy have a similar decoding element in their shows: A constant barrage of references, some easy to recognize... others requiring research and/or further on-line discussion.

All three Mutant Enemy productions are in love with the words the characters speak and employ a remarkable attention to detail.

Buffy and Angel -- literary goodness. Other shows* -- not so much.

*My bad, excluding Firefly
