Erm, did Fox just use the word, "shiny"? It's like those fifth graders using "whaz up dawg." They're trying so hard to be cool, with the in-crowd, but they're just not cutting it.

It is a very nice letter though.

LOL.
Maybe next week, they'll send out letter using Chinese and "gorram," as in:

"Holy Go-se! Serenity made so much gorram money we've decided to fire the fei-yoo who cancelled your show and beg Joss to bring Firefly back to FOX. However, Joss told us to go *%@!$% ourselves. We know no power in the verse can stop you Firefly fans, so would you please beg him to come back for us?"

Well, one can dream.

Lets just think positive about it, SOMEBODY at Fox gets it. It may not be somebody at the top but somebody at least.

Is there a proper order for the music?

From the looks of the track list, it's a bit jumbled among episodes.

Well...I think thats great!

It costs a lot of up front money to make a CD prod run, get it distributed and into stores. The service FOX music provides is one that gets us music from our fav shows which we would otherwise not be able to get....and nets them a lil money as well.

But really, it is a service in recognition of their diehard fans...and the fact that they are willing to listen to us is a good sign! Heck..its a great one. It isnt easy to get things done in a corporate env...so someone up there really cares to go to the effort of getting those files in order, and get the permissions required to do so.

Not only does this mean that FOX is listening...maybe its a sign that we browncoats are mighty enough to make them listen.

By giving us MP3 instead of wmv protected files...they are trusting us browncoats to support their product and our fav TV show. It is a foreward thinking attitude that would have been nice to see earlier...but one that we should welcome and support now.

So thank U FOX music....

I just hope this service is available to us ppl in Australia.........

I'm curious about the ID3 tags.

I notice that the music, in MP3 form at least, imports into iTunes as "track x of 23".. but there are only 17 tracks in the download. Are there missing tracks somewhere? River's Dance? The Hero of Canton? The wedding dance in OMR?

That's great news. Good to see Fox listening to fans'/customers' requests - and the ref to the release of the film had a friendly ring to it, I thought. Shiny, indeed!

I think I read in the previous thread about this that you can only buy & download this if you're in the US - is this true? Anyone from the UK had any success? (See what a difference a bit of effort makes from our faceless corporate buddies? - I'm actively seeking ways to pay for this )

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

This site refuse to work for me. I've tried Firefox and IE, and it always doesn't load. It takes forever to load about half the page, and then it just gives up, stops loading, and none of the links work. Is there any other way to get the files? I also tried going in the front door through foxmusic.com, but that hung after trying to load too.

Please help!

They'll let anyone use a modem these days, won't they?-jms

Okay, for some reason the site works on my friend's comp. If I download the soundtrack there, will I be able to transfer it via CD or Zen to my computer without problems or legal issues?

Has anyone noticed that the "Firefly-Main Title" included in this official download is subtly different than the one aired during every episode?

I'm referring specifically to the part in the bridge of the song where there's an 11-note run. It climbs and then falls. You can hear it beginning at the :32 second mark of the track. On the televised version, this plays as a run that sounds as though it's picked on a banjo. On the digital file from Fox Music, it plays as a lilting violin run instead.

Strange.

Has anyone designed cool CD inserts for the Firefly soundtrack yet?

If so, please share!

I notice Fox has provided a cover .jpg but it is tiny and insufficient.

Yes, if you look at the ID3 tags, we have tracks
1-5,8-9,12-18,& 20-21,23
so yes we are missing 6 tracks
numbers 6,7,10,11,19,22
so according to the tags the order is such:
1. Main Title
2. Hart of Gold Montage
3. Big Bar Fight
4. The Funeral
5. Mal Fights Niska/Back Home
6. ????
7. ????
8. Deserted Ship/Empty Derelict
9. Book's Hair/Ready For Battle
10. ????
11. ????
12. Early Takes Serenity
13. In My Bunk/River's Eyes/Boom
14. Inara's Suite
15. River Tricks Early
16. River's Perception/Saffron
17. Goodbye Early
18. Leaving/Caper/Spaceball
19. ????
20. River's Afraid/Niska/Book
21. River Understands Simon
22. ????
23. Whitefall/Book

so i wonder what six tracks they decided to hold back and why???

^ Yes, the MP3 soundtrack can be transferred anywhere you want, as often as you like, without incident.

17. Goodbye Early

River sits in the cockpit of Early's ship. As the camera slowly gets closer, we notice her GENTLY SWAYING in the seat to music that only she can hear.

SMASH CUT to River's mindscape. She is in Serenity's leaf-strewn cargo hold, SQUARE DANCING with Early and the crew, and SINGING with a strange twang in her voice:

Goodbyyyyye Early
I'll be your bounty!

Let's go out to the blaaaaack, Early
Mal's out there now!

He'll shove you in the baaaaack, Early
Well is that all right?

GOOD! Let's go for a riiiiide, Ear--

*BANG!* Her brother's been shot. River snaps back to reality with a SHRIEK.

Know what? I think the reason these people are acting shiny is because they are not Fox! I'd bet that Fox outsourced the distribution of the soundtrack to this Navio company, which is probably completely unattached to Fox ...

... and that is why they're doing a good job, being considerate, and solving a problem in good faith and with admirable customer service.

Fox should take lessons.

Yeah, I noticed that down-homey little banjo run was missing. I usually "doodle-doodle-doodle do" it audibly, so it was a bit of shock to notice that I was doodle-doing by myself. Luckily, I have my own MP3 ripped from the DVDs.

Heh heh.. Outsourced or not, I'm willing to bet they're sales jumped up even higher, despite the fact that the MP3s aren't protected by digital rights watchacallit file.

As soon as people started posting here about their change to MP3 I got it.

I'm Glad i'm not the Only one to have read that Goodbye earl at first, then do a double take.

must say though i still get a little " huh?" every time some one refers to "early"
THAT'S MY LAST NAME!!! AGGGHHH!!!!
but thanks to the carachter of early, and discussion of such, i found out that i am VERY distantly related to Nathan!

( we are both of distant relation to confederate General Jubal Early, whom the charachter was named after)
