Yes, this is a real *CD*, not a download. It's also from Varese Sarabande, not Fox. This appears to to be the (most welcome) culmination of the effort to get a third party distributor involved. It says there are "exclusive bonus tracks", so hopefully this all the tracks Greg made up oh so very long ago.

FIREFLY
Original Television Soundtrack

Music Composed by Greg Edmonson

From the creator of BUFFY, THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL

The cult TV series that spawned the new film Serenity!

The devoted fans of the TV show had their prayers answered when Universal Pictures announced that the Serenity would fly again in a feature film. Now, as a companion piece to our own release of the Serenity soundtrack comes this first release of music from the Fox sci-fi western series Firefly.

Five hundred years in the future, there is a whole new frontier, and the crew of the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity is eager to stake a claim on the action. They’ll take any job, legal or illegal, to keep fuel in the tanks and food on the table. But things get a bit more complicated after they take on a passenger wanted by the new totalitarian Alliance regime. Now they find themselves on the run, desperate to steer clear of Alliance ships and the flesh-eating Reavers who live on the fringes of space.

Composer Greg Edmonson created a flavorful, guitar-based score for the adventures of the crew of the Serenity, which is currently being broadcast on the Sci-Fi channel and is now available, in its entirety, on DVD. Fans have been clamoring for this music since the show’s debut and now, finally, we are pleased to offer it. CD features exclusive bonus tracks.

Great! Holding out was worth it, then!

I don't like paying for file formats... I'll pay for a physical copy, sure, but paying for file formats feels like I don't really have anything. Plus which, if I don't back it up (or can't back it up), then as soon as something happens to my computer then I'm out on that purchase.

...yeah, point is, this is good news--even if I do have to wait. KF

BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps...

It is fantastically good news. I like to think that my refusal to give people the soundtrack mp3s for free and making them buy it played some small part in getting this release.

A very, very, very small part...

But, who cares?!

We're gettin' a Big Damn CD!!

Is that a safe place to order from? Amazon doesn't list it, so I'm assuming it's exclusive to Varese Sarabande. I've never heard of this place. And is it Fox that released the CD, or the people at this place?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Shiny! Great work to everyone that worked so hard to make this happen.

Can't wait to get mine.

I believe Varese Sarabande is a label, and they are certainly legit. I run across the name a lot browsing movie scores on Amazon (love me some movie scores!). Chances are this CD will show up on Amazon eventually, but either way... Even though I have the Fox download (I put the total of about four hours it took me to figure it out down as a learning experience, and, BTW, could never have done it at all without reading the posts about it here!), I'll probably get the CD. Maybe the bonus tracks will include some of the material Greg Edmonson "Fireflied up" but didn't actually write--like the dance music from "Shindig" and "Safe." My Serenity soundtrack shipped from Amazon on the 27th--can't wait to get it!

*MONKEY CHAIR DANCE OF JOY*

weeeeeeeeeeee-OO!

*ahem* Had to be done.

I too prefer to pay for full printed media, not just because I'm still on dial-up too... although I am.

I'm very tactile when it comes to this sort of thing - very image oriented. I like to have the thing in my hands.

I will be codex-driven forever!

oh my god dream come true! it should be legit...hell, the label for Serenity is Varese Sarabande and I've never heard it before.
Plus, legit or not, it's an actual cd to play. i felt iffy about those downloads..and credit card usage lol.

(After looking on the site-it's legit. it's probably a smalltime company, but I have Serenity from them so it's cool)

I'm the same way, if I can't hold it in my hand, I sometimes forget I even have it. Not to mention, I can't play the songs in my car.

Plus I'm stuck with a 56k connection. I'd die of old age before I could listen to them.
