Here's a hint, pal. . .

"You fog things up. . .turn me about. . ."

Most women probably know that means "I LOVE YOU". . .but they don't like the fact that you've made it sound like a BAD THING!!!!

Repeat after me, "Inara. . .I love you. It sucks that you're a companion, and I know that I can't ask you to chose, but know that I love you! I'm telling you this so you will AT LEAST understand why I am such a RAGING ASS towards you all the time. It's because I can't reconcile this little tickle in the wasp's nest of a heart I have with the fact that you sleep with men for a living and it drives me NUTS!!!"

GEEZ!!!!!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

LOL!

You tell him Static! Part of me can't understand why he just doesn't tell Inara he loves her, but there is that part of me that understands Mal more than I might care to think on & I know why he is having such a devil of a time.

When we get our sequel, perhaps Mal may finally admit his feelings for Inara.

I always felt that Mal couldn't declare his love for Inara because he no longer believed in loving things....
he'd lost his love of life, and his love of God
(which he'd had before, during the war)
he didn't believe in the future, and love & marriage is all about believing in having a future...

But if we get our sequel I'm expecting it to deal w/Inara's secret, Mal's love for Inara,
and then her painful horrible death.

(just me guessing....I'm probably wrong )

Do you at least take some solace from Simon finally getting it right?

Now there's a subject ain't been spoke on near enough. I have to admit, I did feel a little twinge of satisfaction seeing Simon and Kaylee...being...in love... () But after

The shock of Book's death, and especially Wash's death

i just didn't have the emotional energy left to spend on being happy for them.

After I'm done grieving for Wash (watched a fanvid this morning made me teary-eyed)

maybe I'll be happy for them.

Static, you're such a romantical fella. That would be a fun moment at a convention - handing that bit to Nathan and having him speak to Moreena.

Odd how he had that frame of mind with Inara, but didn't toward Nandi. The again, there was no emotional boundary to cross there, was it?

Mal's loved and lost before. Maybe not a woman, so far as we know, although I'm thinking maybe there had to be at some point. But since that moment in Serenity Valley, his heart's been broken and I don't think he's all that willing to have it mended yet.

remember in the series... when mal helped out the whores? at the end, he was ready to tell inara he loved her, but she pushed away. maybe he doesn't want to tell her cuz he doesn't want to get hurt again? i mean, he was willing to be vulnerable but inara just said, "im leaving". that must have been painful and hard for him.

and i think he did say that, when at the end of the movie, when he asked if she was ready to leave, and she said she didn't know. his reply? "good answer" i think that said it all... what i mean by "all"... i do not know.

... i realy should put capitols and such... im so lazy

If it were that simple, Static, we wouldn't want them to get together so badly.

Good point. Mal doesn't really have any reason to think that Inara WANTS him to declare his love. It would be different if she had been throwing herself at him the way Kaylee did Simon.

Lock em in the shuttle all day - they'll either bond forever...

Or kill each other.

Love works in some damn strange ways.

Either way, it won't be a problem anymore.

Two things, though:

1) I read somewhere Joss saying something along the lines of, "Are you CRAZY? Mal & Inara get together? Nope. I saw Moonlighting."

and perhaps more important

2) Someone grazed this idea back up the thread a ways, but if you follow Joss, you sure as heck don't want anyone to fall happily in love, 'cause one of them'll end up getting possessed by an emotionless god from another dimension, or being unable to control his werewolf self around his love.

They can go on flirting with each other forever, as far as I'm concerned.

I love the little touches Joss gives us, though, like Inara not having her makeup mask on in that last scene with Mal. Those little Things Are Different moments rock.

This is what I love about Whedon. He's characters are real and have a really hard time communicating with each other on a simple honest level.

Most people can't speak there true feelings because everyone is afraid of getting hurt.

True... very, very, true...

How about if they just have a lot of meaningless sex, but feel really conflicted about it afterwards? Would that be okay?

I figure she's got most of us all confused and addlepated...I know I'm in a fog when she's around...

Okay....I'll say it...I love you Mal.

Oh wow, that felt good!
