This information is irrelevant. Choosing to see only what is before you and you will be blind, for it is only a part of the whole. This is the problem with today’s society, people want instant gratification, they want everything and they want it now. That’s not the way it works. The fans, the cast and crew of Firefly went to extraordinary lengths to make this movie, just because it hasn’t been a smash hit does not mean all our efforts will magically evaporate. Turn your sight outwards and see the potential of what can be. Our efforts are not wasted unless we give up. Work hard to spread the word and keep this movie on top, continue to do what we did to get this movie made and we will have many more in the future.

Thanks for posting that link, Angelic. Some of us are interested in seeing those numbers. I predict she will make another 10 mil this weekend! How's that for positive thinking?

With a production budget of $39m, and a worldwide take in less than a week of over $13m, it's a third of the way to break-even. Not a smash hit, but not bad. Whedon himself has said that the DVD sales are the "new box office", and will tell the REAL tale of whether the movie's a success. I'm sincerely hoping it will have been deemed a success long before the DVD comes out.

I'm wondering how "Star Wars" (the original one) opened its first week. I saw it in the theatre when it came out, but not until a couple weeks after it had been out, when the "buzz" started building. Could we see something like that with "Serenity", where it just needs to get into the mainstream consciousness? Let's hope... Critics apparently aren't much help to us, which is surprising, since the reviews are overwhelmingly positive (80% "fresh", according to RottenTomatoes.com). I'm surprised a movie that well-reviewed isn't getting more attention from the media and the public.
