*WARNING: THIS THREAD CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE AND WANT TO STAY SPOILER-FREE*

hey travelers,
was anyone else's theater sold out? My brother, father, friend, and I all went to buy tickets today for the 7:35 showing and the movie was sold out. Me and my dad jumped around saying, "It's sold out! It's sold out!" over and over again. We were ecstatic!!! We bought tickets for the showing at 8:15 and when we went in to the theater, it looked almost sold out AGAIN!!!!!!!! I'm so happy. It's sooooooo shiny that people are seeing Serenity now!!! I expect this weekend to be good!!! I'll check in on if other showings are sold out or not since i'll be seeing it 2 other times this weekend.

I also saw some other browncoats at my theater and talked with them. They gave me and my friends some Serenity buttons and keychains (i'd been looking for those)!!! Thanks guys, if you're reading this. Now i can advertise in a way other than yelling "everyone go see Serenity!!!" (Yes, i've done that in all of my classes at school every Friday since the BIG DAMN MOVIE came out ).

so, was anyone else's theater sold out? and did anyone meet anybody interesting at their theaters?

My showing tonight wasn't sold out but it was considerably more crowded than any of the three times before. The theater was about 80% full with the only seats left being those in the front couple rows. Unfortunately though, the BDM had already been downgraded to a small theater at this multiplex. It was still more people however. Everyone there seemed to really enjoy it. Hopefully our BO #'s will be decent this weekend.

Awesome news, engine angel! That's one theater that won't be dropping the BDM any time soon! I haven't been to a screening that was sold out, but a number have come close and the one I went to yesterday was at least 70% full. I've seen browncoats at the five showings I've been to. Last saturday, I even clued a group into the fact that the theme song plays thru the end credits. It's so weird to meet complete strangers and yet have this sense of kinship between us.

I'm highly interested in seeing the BO #'s for today. If my prediction is correct, then tonight should bring in the most money so far.

EDIT: Oh and how can you tell who is a Browncoat?

well, in a way its wierd, but in a way, it's completely normal and natural. We're united by our tears for Wash, our praise for Joss, our hatred of Fox, and our love of Firefly. After all, we ARE all one big crew (which makes us one big family)

I'm hoping your prediction is correct and that we will have many muscular butts (a Jayne reference) in the Serenity seats.

well, in my theater they stayed 'till the end of the credits, were congregated outside the theater talking about the movie, one had on a Serenity hat, one had on a BROWN COAT, and ... oh yeah ... I asked them if they were browncoats.

Well, the "Joss Whedon Is My Master Now" T-shirt at the first showing was a dead giveaway that the whole clump of people gathered outside were browncoats. At showing #2, I sat down next to a group of four people who proceeded to complement me on my browncoat (I had a rough Mal ensemble going). They were all wearing fan-made T-shirts. At the third showing, I overheard the guys ahead of us and guessed they were browncoats--which from their dialogue after the movie, they were. At the fourth showing, a clump of people hung around during the credits discussing browncoatish things and lamenting the cancellation (though they had the gall to diss "Angel!" ). And after screening number five, we ran into a browncoat explaining the situation to a pair of non-fans.

EDIT: Oh, and on our way out from the opening showing, we passed along line of folk waiting to see Serenity. I spotted a Jayne hat and a Blue Sun T-shirt in the crowd.

And Rakarr, I hope you're right about the Box Office.

Movie showing I was at, while not sold out, was certainly crowded.

I wonder... I wonder if I'm the only Browncoat around where I live? Any Browncoats here live in Coos Bay or North Bend Oregon?

I was hoping that releasing the start of Serenity online would have a ground swell effect. I've got all my finger and toes and arms and legs crossed, that this will be the weekend that Serenity climbs back up the chart (My Big Fat Firefly Serenity).

I went to the showing tonight -fourth time seeing the movie. The theater was smaller, but 75% full. Does anyone know what the weekend numbers are?
