It SUCKS! and usually the bootleg copies rarely have even half of the movie on them! bootleggers are idiots who make a fortune for less then half of the product! they should be shut down and arrested for jipping fans out of great movie experiences!

I have to disagree. Yay them.

"Can't stop the signal"

Which actually means something. Never been a fan of copyright law. I suspect that though Joss wants to make money back for Universal, if he opposes this sort of stuff he's a hypocrite, because this is what every message of the show is eternally broadcasting, buck authority, do it yourself, share the knowledge, don't be anal.

But even more, any bogus copy of Serenity is going to increase overall viewership and a large % of viewers become fans. This is a good way to build the fanbase up.

So kudos to the thugs.

Ps. Full considering that a season budget for a renewed firefly is $50M, and a five season contract would be a quarter of a billion dollars, and Joss would need about five million fans to get that, that means, hold on, let's to this math:

$250M/5M=$50

So each fan is worth $50 to Joss and co.

If a loss of $9 in revenue get's a new fan half the time, it's a steal for Joss and co.

If universal want to make money off the franchise they would be wise to renew it for broadcast on UPN and run it Tues nights at 8 or something, preferable near to other shows of geek interest.

I sent messages to all possible groups at Universal about the DVDs. They should be gone soon.

Even if it were true that distributing the movie would bring in new fans, that doesn't give some third party stranger the right to SELL and profit off of Joss and Co.'s work.

And, as much as I like the show and believe in its ability to draw in a following, the idea that one out of every two (or even 1 out of every 10) people who watch the movie will buy the DVDs is ridiculous.

You'd think that if they only had half the movie on them you'd be a little more happy then this. It means they HAVE to go out and see the movie, or buy the DVD so they can see the genious i'm sure there hooked on.

and putting a non dvd movie on a dvd is a pain in my ass... thats why they just stay on my computer...
-edit-
got a link to the ebay auction? i can't seem to find it..wanna check it for myself...
