Is anyone else into this show, or just me? I'm enjoying the story so far and I'm just wondering how it's doing cause I'd hate for another Firefly-cancelled-before-the-season-ends fiasco to happen again.

I'm enjoying it.

It's like someone made a (non-cartoon) Godzilla series.

Plus Nimrod's cool. He shows more personality than some human actors.

I've been enjoying Surface also. I think it's the best of the 3 new "sci-fi" shows. Invasion is just bad, and Threshold I kinda lost track of. I was kinda shocked that they got rid of 2 of the supporting cast, and I look forward to the kid and Nimrod meeting up with the other two.

It was kinda strange how suddenly they killed off the two scientists. That's what made me start this thread. I'm getting the feeling they'rewrapping up the series. Kind of giving it a conclusion if they can. Although you'd think these episodes were all shot and edited already. I don't know. But I'd like to see how this story ends one way or another.

Shocked at getting rid of two of the cast? Not sure about the rest of you, but I'm a bit numb to that plot device right about now...

I didn't care for the Surface pilot, but I think the show has gotten progressively better. I'm not crazy about the acting, but the story has gotten better as it has developed and I liked the chances they took by killing off Sirko early in the show. I was surprised Sing died, since he had that superhealing experience earlier in the series. I figured he'd sort of change physiologically.

Invasion is another that I think has gotten better as it has progressed. Threshold kind of comes and goes - it will have a good episode followed by a bad one, and then another good one. Very inconsistent, although it's coming off its best episode yet. I like Supernatural and Bones and the jury is still out on Night Stalker.

Huh. How many episodes are we up to now (I haven't been keeping track)?

'Cause I'm noting that the first purchase usually seems to be thirteen eps (see: Firefly, The Inside, Prison Break), with the remaining half-season depending on ratings.

The smart thing to do (if one is using a story arc) is to set those thirteen as a single arc. This way, if the show doesn't do well, you can at least get all 13 in the bag for the DVD set (again, see Firefly, and hopefully The Inside).

If it takes off, the next 13 can be another arc, with the secons season (hopefully) able to stand on its own.

What I'm saying is that we may be getting to the main thrust of this particular arc --big things seem to be happening (The kid running away, the creatures starting to come further inland, Sirko's epiphany, etc).

I believe 6 or 7 episodes of Surface have aired.

So, about halfway, then. Yeah, the deaths could signal the turning point in the initial arc.

According to Entertainment Weekly (and zap2it.com), Surface was picked up for the full season.

I bet they're glad they're not on FOX.

Liking Surface, but the one I've become obsessed with is Threshold. I think it stands out. So many fun plot twists. Please tell me other people are watching it and really liking it....

These are the new sci-fi shows that I know have been picked up for a full season:

1. Surface
2. Supernatural
3. Invasion
4. Ghost Whisperer

Bones has also been picked up for a full season. The last I heard, they hadn't made the decision on Threshold yet. I hope they pick it up. It is my favorite show of the new ones this season.

I'm liking Threshold too (there should be a Ramsey fan-club), and Supernatural.

I refuse to watch Ghost Whisperer, both because (A) it's on Fox, and (B) it's a shameless (and glitzed-up) ripoff of a pre-existing show (Medium) that I do enjoy.

I just read that CBS has ordered 3 more episodes of Threshold. They need to see better ratings before they are going to commit to a full season.

Thank you, Roland and Cybersnark. Yeah, Ramsey should have his own fan club! Everybody could meet in a stripclub and then solve problems in differential geometry. My wife is dressing up as Molly this Halloween, complete with a co-worker's Stitch Doll as Monster, her dog.

We finally watched the Surface you guys have been talking about in this thread. The show is definitely good and going places. However, Threshold is the one I watch and say "When's the next one?!" Especially after the last one, when she

had to kill her mentor.

Oh, please let it not suffer from 'Foxitis'.
