I can't get over it, the more I think about it, the more I realize how excellent Serenity was. Mal is right up there with Kirk and Picard as a true and courageous hero (though a little less respectful of the law), and the movie is all manner of warp speed beyond either Trek franchise!
Words fail me...

Thanks AGAIN, Joss.

I love the movie so much and I haven't even seen it, yet!

I'm a new Firefly fan. In fact, I just finished watching it two days ago. I am now thoroughly obsessed, so I guess I came to the right place! I will be seeing Serenity on Saturday (it's still playing here in good ol' Harrisburg, PA), and I have no doubt that my obsession will only get stronger! I wonder if we can't just have a fundraiser to get this show back on the air (er, IN the air). Why settle for a $7.00 movie ticket? I'll give 'em half my paycheck!

Serenity, here I come!!

Fantastic film. But I'll have to wait until the DVD is released to see it again.

I am relativly new to FF myself (9 mos.+). Strange how around Out Of Gas I realized the show was gonna be with me for a L o n G time to come.
Kinda like The Prisoner, short, sweet, and permanently in my head!

And the movie was a total gorram bonus!!!

LOL
I had no idea you were a newbie Chris (and no, you are NOT alone)

I've been wishing I could see Serenity again,
but I loved reading the screen play (the Official Visual Companion is wonderful)
and I'm REALLY looking forward to the DVD

but in the mean time I'll watch 'Firefly'
(both on my own DVDs AND when they air it on Sci-fi channel)

and I've been downloading some great new fan videos

I am so in love with this 'verse....
my big delima:
should I let go of my 'extra' copies of the 'Serenity' comic book?
I've got friends & family I converted,
and they have watched the DVDs and went to the BDM

but they never bought their own copies of the comic books...
and I DO have one of each cover...

sigh

I think I'll just be selfish and keep them.
I'll get extras of the graphic novel when THAT comes out

**********************************************
watch the R. Tam Session vids: http://www.hittarivertam.nu/
and buy the 'Serenity' comics published by Dark Horse,

I love Serenity!

I'm depressed because it hasn't been in theaters here now for a long time, and I was hoping this week it'd pop up at the discount theater, but it didn't.

But only a few more weeks until it's out on DVD and I can watch it to my hearts content!

Keep 'em all or you'll kick yourself!
Just let them read your comics (you turnin' the pages, of course, don't wanna get them all dog-eared or torn), and get 'em the graphic novel later.

Serenity! The best movie I've seen since the Original Star Wars Trilogy! (Ok, so Serenity and Firefly, edge out the original SW trilogy, by a mile!) Joss should have directed the new Star Wars trilogy. Serenity was the greatest movie I've had the pleasure of seeing on the big screen since I've been going to theaters!! I laughed, I cried, I split my pants!

I LOVED SERENITY!

The past five years my favorite movie has always been Lord of the Rings I talked to my friends about it so much they would have wanted to throw me in the hold and duck tape my mounth shut... so when I told them I liked Serenity more then Lord of the Rings my friends nearly passed out from the shock they never thought this day would come...but it has and Serenity is the best movie I have seen!

Saw Serenity today for the 3rd time. Drove 100 miles to see it since it's gone from local theaters here. It was just as gorram great the 3rd time as it was the first. And the final 10 minutes broke my heart all over again too. God, I have a love/hate relationship with Joss Whedon lately. Grumble, grumble. Love the shite outta the BDM.

Another reason today's 100 mile drive was worth it: The theater owner told me I can have the Serenity movie marquee poster! Squeeeee!~

Also: I think Mal and the gang aboard Serenity are every bit as wondrous as Han Solo and the Milennium Falcon (and all the other bestest shiniest parts of Star Wars) rolled into one glorious package. No. Mal's bunch is BETTER than Han's, but that's the closest comparison I can cadge for ya.

BROWNTROUSERS

FireFly and Serenity both kick some series booty. I mean, I only got into Firefly about 2 months ago (cought one of the eps on SCIFI channel here in the uk, soon had the DVD set). It was an ideal time for me to get into the show, because SERENITY was being advertised on TV at the time. It was pretty funny, i watched an episode of Firefly, then saw an Ad for serenity the same day - now i did'nt even know that a Firefly movie was in production, and so when i saw this ad with mal, river and the Serenity in it, i was, well, confused.

As for the movie, I loved it. First time i went to see it i took my Sci-Fi loving sister, who had never seen firefly, to see it - we both enjoyed it a lot. I then went a second time, and it was great to see it again, because i missed out on a lot of stuff from the first viewing.

Serenity is Excellent cinema, I cant wait for the DVD!

Huge Fan of:
Firefly\Serenity
Farscape

Chris - I mean - #6 is a newbie?!?

Ok, a challenge! Go dig out your very first post and paste it on here.

Embers dont give away the pre-shussss! Give your friends and relatives the consolidated version when it comes out. I know they are probably clamoring at your kitchen door for coffee, cookies and the preshussss, and I know how tempting it is when you have a lot of something someone else wants, but you'll want those covers later on. Make 'em wait baby! You'll still be your own generous self later on.

Now to the topic at hand!

And I carved it on a tree!

Also, in my very smallest voice with no hint of gloating
it's still showing in Portland, only 10 minutes from my house. I wish you could all come see it with me this week.
I love this movie!
I'm so glad I have DVDs and you guys around to get crazy with.

i've done stunts in movies off and on (I was the guy hurled over a wall by Toxie in "Toxic Avenger 4", if you can stomach that kinda stuff) and my favorite stunt was definitly the guy flipping backwards after gettin hit with the pool cue.
The guy bouncing his head down the shaft(War Stories) was cgi. As was the guy getting sucked into the engine.

I'm still gushing about Serenity to my friends! I went to see it again on friday (I'm a very new newbie, like, 3 weeks, really!) Yet I've seen Serenity twice, bought Firefly, have the comics on hold, bought the Visual Companion, and just got the CD. I'm a junkie now. I dragged my friends to the friday show, and they liked it. I promised them we'd watch my fav. episodes of Firefly next weekend. We drove for a half an hour to the nearest theater, but well worth it. Not quite 100 miles, though! I'm jealous of whoever got the poster! What a fan!

Anyway, back to the movie! Serenity was all I had hoped for plus MUCH more. Being a die-hard long time Star Wars fan, I was quite torn when episode III came on DVD, and when I bought Firefly in the same week. Naturally, Star Wars has taken a back seat. What an amazing film. Summer especially kicked ass! I'm eagerly counting down the days until the DVD!

Loving it more and more all the time. i've seen it five times now and it keeps getting better!
Last weekend I had a Firefly marathon (the whole series) then rounded it off by going and watching the BDM again. Whenever I used to watch Firefly right through I always got frustrated by it ending with Objects in Space (not one of my favourites and it doesnt resolve anything). Problem solved, thanks to Serenity. Its so wonderful to see so many arc plots from the series finally pay off - and see Mal regain what he lost in the pilot episode.
Sheer brilliance.

The stunt co-ordinator was an old friend, and asked me if I wanted to get a little banged-up for pay, I said yes. So, freelance.
I also play the cop in a chase scene, with me driving, and various little other bits, they used a lot of us over and over in different shots. It was fun.

I just went yesterday for my 10th viewing!! Love this movie...love even more every time I see it!

I have not done this since Star Wars (before it was called Episode 4 "A New Hope"). Saw that about 13 times in the theaters. Here's hoping I can beat that record. It's a little harder now that I'm a full adult with adultlike responsibilities - #!!# job - oh well got to have a way to pay to see my movie somehow. And all those Serenity DVDs I've ordered for the holidays for friends and families. OK - it's definately worth the trade-off.

I am so ashamed. The first time I saw Serenity, I posted my general impressions which were kind of 50:50 positive:negative. I was trying to judge the film from the viewpoint of those new to FF, and that stopped me from getting sucked in to what was actually happening on screen.

Saw it again yesterday, and ... I take it all back. It's brilliant. I want more. There's so much subtlety that I just completely missed, and the pain was needed to complete the journey. Nathan and Summer ... just wow.

The cinematography, again, subtle. I just read a NZ review that condemned the look as drab, but we're just so used to the oversaturated look of most films. The FF/Serenity look creates a unique kind of beauty, which sneaks up on you, until suddenly you're catching your breath as a particular shot just blows you away.

No, Chrisisall, we're definitely not through gushing.
